  1. I assume you've installed it in the 06 passat, right? If you used a harness w/ rca plugs then chances are all the negative speaker wires are tied together. This will cause a problem w/ the output. You need either a PAC C2RVW or Metra XSVI9003-NAV. These will have regular speaker wires for non-amplified (or in your case more likely, Monsoon system). Should fix the problem.
  2. Here's the deal - your truck's electrical system includes a databus that uses data to digitally tell things to light up. You may have a hard time finding an illumination wire. The parking light wire will be brown and you'll find it in the driver side kick panel. Use the multimeter like bobsyouruncle said and make sure it only gets 12v when you want it to. In other words, if you turn on the parking lights and you get 12v on that wire, great. Then test to see if 12v is present when you use the blinkers and/or when the truck is running and in gear (when the daytime driving lights come on). If it'
  3. Looks like Pioneer has polished the turds that were the F series. Problem is - a polished turd is still a turd. If you need one right now, get the F whatever and the map/3.0 update. Otherwise, wait a few months until the X series turns out to be the turds I'm sure they'll be and get it for a fraction of the release price. However, if you want something more reliable right now, I might have to suggest going with a Kenwood. Sure, they don't have the voice command for dialing a call, but really, neither does Pioneer. P.S. Is anyone in this forum actually excited about the new lineup? I si
  4. Hope it's not too late to help here. The os2 is a somewhat problematic piece. Chances are the relay isn't bad - either the os2 is bad or you need to install a diode across the 85 and 86 contacts of the relay (check pac-audio.com for the bulletin on the fix). I have seen several os2's go bad in my life.
  5. Good thing this is a sticky - must be a lot of ML320 owners looking for new stereos. I'll post again if I EVER MANAGE TO MEET ONE.
  6. The f series is not the only responsible party here. While they are turds, Pioneer says plasmas AND car electronics are their biggest losses. The fact that the f series are problematic really hasn't stopped people from selling them. Instead, buyers who research before buying just don't ask for it.
  7. Looks like we're going to have to rely on each other for help, may not be anyone left to answer the phone at Pioneer. Their 2 biggest losers (according to Pioneer) are car electronics and plasma tv's. They've decided to pull out of the tv market - will car electronics be next?
  8. EVERYBODY - CHECK YOUR LOCAL CAR AUDIO DEALERS!!! We're currently selling the f90BT for $599 at our store! And it's not even on sale! We sell the f700bt for 399 regular and 299 on sale! We can't be the only ones!! Buy local and avoid dealing w/ people on the internet who will disappear and not be around when you need help! Pioneer has given dealers BLOWOUT pricing to get rid of these things. We even ran a promotion to include an ipod touch w/ the f90bt for $649!!!
  9. JR, first of all, there are only 2 amps (in the front 2 doors) in the Dodge Rams. Second, are you seriously saying that you bypassed the amps in the doors for some period of time before realizing you could just connect the turn on wire when putting a new stereo in? If so, PLEASE remove MECP from your credential list and stop referring to the rest of us as "us installers." Thank you.
  10. The different colors have a distinct value for each one. In a nutshell, they all reflect the fact that the stereo is a turd. But you probably know this already.
  11. VBLUE, have you used the search feature here? Try searching for the question asked here (how to do the software bypass) and please post what you searched for that explains in some sort of plain english how to do it.
  12. I've worked with both so here's the deal. The Kenwood 5120: - Does not drop iPod - Does not lock up on nav (or have you drive in a circle to get you where you are going) - Does not have SD input (although my f700 plays music off SD card just fine) - Shows 3 lines of whatever you want on Sirius - Works fine w/ iPhone 3g (as long as you have the most recent bluetooth update) - May or may not voice dial contacts - Has no voice control for iPod - IS A MUCH MORE STABLE HEAD UNIT THAN ANY PIONEER F SERIES I don't think anyone here can disagree w/ any of these statements. With that sai
  13. Hey Terron I checked nissanparts2u and couldn't find what you're talking about. Got a link? I like the fact that the texture matches even though you have to fill in the gaps on the sides. Looks nice!! By the way, how much did that piece cost? Not sure I'd call the metra kit shitty though. For Colton's app the metra kit should work just fine. Also, I've noticed the F series face is slightly smaller than regular double din faces. Anyone else notice the trim ring that comes with it doesn't fit properly? It's the same trim that comes w/ the D series which does fit right. Remember, it cost
  14. Craziness. First, please don't ever use security screws like the one shown above as it will cost you money and or time and frustration. Remember, stereos need to be removed for service or upgrades from time to time. Also, alarms do work most of the time. So some guy wants to steal your stereo and breaks the window and the alarms starts to go off. What's he gonna do? Wait for the cops to show up? Maybe have a donut?! If he really wants it, yes, he may go ahead and enter the vehicle while everyone around finally starts to look to see where the noise is coming from. If your alarm doesn't fal
  15. Sorry to hear about your bad experience RJ. As an installer things like this are an embarrasment to me and my industry. Yesterday I put a stereo in and the plug didn't line up just right and one of the pins got pushed in. We sent it back and I put a different one in. Here's why your serial number may not match - sometimes if we put something in a car and it doesn't work right we'll pull another from stock and if it works, it stays in the car and the defective unit is sent back. If it's busy, we may give the customer the box for the original unit since the box for the swapped piece is stil
