  1. I have a 2007 F150 so install would be similar. For the backup camera, head over to www.f150online.com. There are a few threads there about what you have to do to get the camera functioning (a couple splices and a little solder, easy to do). As far as the factory Sirius, all you can re-use is the antenna. I think the Sirius modules you would need come out to around $100 extra but I could be wrong about that.
  2. here ya go bud http://forums.maxima.org/audio-electron ... aring.html
  3. Same issue on my 4GB USB and 2GB SD. Songs are cutting off 2-5 seconds early on about 90% of the files. They work fine on my pc. I've just learned to deal with it until I get an Ipod (god I hate that word)
  4. i'm pretty sure any switch would work since your just trying to break the ground connection with it.
  5. If you have to ask that question are you sure you want to install this yourself??? j/k. It pulls a very negligible amount of power. I went to Cancun for a week and a half, came home, truck started right up. You will be ok.
  6. If you still have the factory head unit and the volume changes with your speed, that wire should be on the factory wire harness behind the stereo. It is gray/black Clipping into your reverse light would be pretty easy since you could hide it behind some interior panels. I'm gonna have to run mine along the frame in my f150. Do you have a voltmeter? If so, try finding an orange/light blue wire by the fuse box and test it for voltage with it in/out of reverse. If you're in central tx by chance i could help ya
  7. Make sure it is formatted to Fat32, should pull right up and start playing audio when you insert it.
  8. Figured it out. The BT on my phone keeps randomly stopping working, requiring a hard reboot of the phone.
  9. For the first 2 weeks or so I had my headunit, the BT was working great. Over the past week, I have had to clear the BT from both my phone/HU and re-pair them multiple times. It seems that it's working now only for that session it's paired, then I have to re-wipe it all and re-pair it. I don't have anywhere near the 300 contacts that I have read about in previous posts and most of those posts are pre-firmware update. Anyone else having a similar issue with their BB? Thanks. o yea, this is for an F700BT, bypassed.
  10. Great success. How is it functioning now with more data on it and does it work w/o the extra usb power?
  11. Can only do splash with the "F" series
  12. do a search, there's plenty of active topics about this under the hacks/mods sub-forum.
  13. It's just part of the dash bracing. it's about 1.5" wide and perfect for the antenna.

  15. That drive you stated said it needs a 5v power supply, and all the manual for my f700bt says is it has a 500mA current supply so I am unsure. I even pulled up the data sheet off of Transcends website and it doesn't give specifics. Good luck with it and let us know how it goes.
  16. I have checked out several portable hard drives and the specs for them, and for some reason none of the manufacturers or sellers have what kind of power is needed via USB to run them. Edit: The Western Digital Passports require about 650mA of power. It also looks like most of these come with a USB 2.0 Y-cable in order to get enough power to operate. Looks like we're SOL. Since most of these have Y cables, do you guys think something like the following would allow our units to power a HD, given the extra amp or so of power it would spit out?
  17. Sorry to hijack but I'm going boarding in Breck next month. RandomMistakes, how's the powder up there?
  18. +1 for in the dash under the useless tray. I started out with mine on the roof, ran through the cab using the 3rd brake light. I didn't like the way it looked so I put it under there and didn't experience any signal loss. If you look under there, that metal brace almost looks like it was made for a GPS antenna. This is in a 07 F150.
  19. I have a 4gb USB and 2gb SD card with music on both. The USB is recognized about 75% of the time it boots up, and if not all I have to do is unplug it and re-plug it. The SD card is recognized MAYBE 50% of the time, but again all I have to do is pull it out and re-insert it. Nkosi, have you verified that your stuff is formatted to FAT32? It wouldn't hurt to re-format it even if it already is.
  20. Have you done the screen alignment?
  21. www.isohunt.com or using a program called Direct Connect.
  22. I think whoever wrote that review mistakenly put "dual usb ports" instead of saying there's 1 usb and 1 sd.
  23. It won't play any sort of dvd's. You can play avi files off of usb/sd, however the USB lags very bad and the SD doesn't always read.
