  1. I have the same issue. I installed the official 3.0 update and the position (I use 2d north up mode, haven't checked for other modes) is usually 50 feet or so ahead of my truck. I have changed nothing else since the update, like the position of the GPS antenna, for example. This puts me past, or in, an intersection while I am waiting at the light. Frustrating because sometimes when the road splits the truck will be shown going up one street while I have actually gone the other way. Once I get 50 feet or so along, the arrow will snap back to the right street. Not critical, but certainly
  2. Sti Robot: I put the update on over Maverickster's mods without reverting back to original 2.0. As far as I can tell, the second SD card replaces the old data.zip file completely. I then replaced the new 3.0 data.zip with ulmer's updated version of Maverickster's mods located in this forum on a thread in the mod section. Worked flawlessly.
  3. One of the reasons I felt hesitant to go with 3.0 was that I would lose Maverickster's mods I've had on my unit since the 2.0 upgrade. My SD cards from Pioneer came in yesterday and I installed them update last night. What a difference. Such as degrade in aesthetics without Maverickster. As I re-read this thread to the end I found that Ulmer had rewritten the mods for 3.0. I copied the files to an sd card and went back to my truck. I only changed the 3.0 data.zip for the mod available from ulmer on page 28 and, voila! I have my mods back. I restarted the unit a couple of times, the fir
  4. I have a Boyo license plate camera in my 08 F-150. It is activated by the head unit when the reverse lights come on. There is a wire that connects to the positive side of the backup light and that tells the HU you are in reverse. The wiring instructions that come with the Pioneer tells you how to do this.
  5. I don't have XM but I do have a GPS anti-theft tracking device on my F150 that uses a similar antenna. When they installed the GPS they put the antenna on the brace that runs under the change tray. There is room for only one antenna there. So I took a metal light switch plate, drilled a hole in the brace and bolted the plate to the brace and set both antennas on the plate. There is room under the change tray for all of this and reception is great on both units.
  6. I've used a 4GB Geek Squad USB Drive and a 8GB San Disk SDHC. The problem with the SDHC is that if it is in the unit when booting, the unit stays dark until it reads the flash drive, and that takes a while (up to 5 minutes). I leave the USB connected and there is no issue with that. Once the unit has booted, the SDHC can be put into the slot, read by the unit, and be available for use. Both drives are MP3 files.
  7. So let me get this straight. You want to talk on the phone, look for your favorite song on your iPod, AND drive the car?
  8. No, the hardware bypass works just fine when everything is connected right. Mine did the same as yours after I pulled the unit out a couple of times while working on a finicky mic. I found out that the metal connector on the end of the mute wire had slipped back down into the white connector plug and was not making contact with the pin in the head unit. After using a jeweler's screwdriver to push it back up, the bypass was up an running again. If you get the brake wire message, you have got a bad connection somewhere.
  9. This is great! Comparing a factory unit with an aftermarket radio. First of all, Pioneer makes OEM radios for cars. My 2005 Ford Sportrac had a Pioneer labeled CD player in it as factory equipment. Sticker price $1500 extra. Worked great, played CDs and AM/FM. My F700 does a lot more than that for half the price. And by the way, what did the factory nav unit in that $45K car cost? I'll bet it wasn't $500-750. Second point: I did a lot of research before I bought. Read the threads here (thanks AVIC411 and all of you who makes positive contributions to this site) about Pioneer as
  10. Sonic Electronix (www.sonicelectronix) has the F900 for $579.99, free shipping, with the installation accessories included, and if you don't live in California, it's non-taxable. Plus they're an authorized Pioneer dealer.
  11. Thanks for the dash info bcountry. I'll be installing mine in my F-150 as soon as the HD module comes in. btw, color coding is available for an extensive collection of makes/models at www.modifiedlife.com, all free.
