  1. Sounds like you have made up your mind already... like you said you don't have to run the GPS or Sirius antenna again not to mention that you wont have to learn a new interface.
  2. Well whats your budget and did you like your F900? If you did like and can deal with the annoyances then get another one, you can pick one up for around $350-$400 and at those prices its pretty hard to go with something else. Let us know what you get.
  3. In my opinion I think the F9110bt is a waste of space... all Pioneer did was re-package the F900 with a different bezel. If this is going to be a VW factory option I would want it to be at least 7" or 8" screen, it's not like they don't have the room. If I was buying a new VW Jetta or JTI I would get the standard Nav unit, but that me.
  4. I find that weather takes the longest to display. Traffic and Gas Prices work pretty good as does the Movie Listing.
  5. Try using the stylus and resetting the unit... the only thing is that you will loose all your presets but MSN should show the product key
  6. Looks nice... like it came with the truck. very nice
  7. I don't know if it is all F90s, I can only say that my unit does hiss. It's not a ground loop engine whine it is the head-unit. I have RCA from the pre-amps to the amps. I have been able to turn down the gains on the amps to about 2.5(which is almost off) and set the SLA to -4 and it is almost completely gone and is much more bearable. It's a shame because I am not using the power that my system is capable of.
  8. That being the case, I would imagine he would need to use chemicals, like acetone or rubbing compound. Rubbing compound would probably work better because it wouldn't eat the plastic but would take the writing off.
  9. Use the AVICFEEDS to change it
  10. I am aware of this, however many people seem to think that Pioneer would be charging for the firmware update. All I am stating is my point of of view on a paid update and I don't think it should be a charge. Maps update = a charge, I can deal with it. I understand Pioneer need to pay for licensing fees etc. Firmware = no charge, excellent as it should be. I don't feel anyone of us should pay.
  11. I agree with the two posters above - it sounds like you got a bum unit. I'm up and playing from my iPod in a little over 20 seconds, have ZERO problems with Bluetooth, and only had to do a hard reset once since September 2009 when my GPS lost signal with the sats. 7-8 minutes sounds like you either have a bum unit or screwed the firmware update up. Can you exchange your unit from the retailer you bought it from? Not a bum unit man... I am a tech geek through and through and know hardware failure from software mishaps... the unit was not bad, the software is buggy. You will find a
  12. Yes that maybe but you still get free updates on patches, bug fixes etc. and that is the point. They don't charge for patches... I don't know about you but I get them for free. Pioneer is not coming out with a new product (F-Series), they are simply fixing the current device that have been sold. Where are you reading that pioneer is charging for 3.0? Have you read this thread? It 's through out.
  13. If you believe that the F-series is perfect then fine Pioneer should charge for their updates. But Pioneer doesn't charge for firmware update and either does any of the other manufactures. Most manufacturing companies that includes Pioneer release 2-3 firmware updates for current or past product models then leave them as is and focuses on their new products. That is how you build core or even die-hard fan of a brand. In your statement you said; "Start-up time for core features is acceptable, stability is fine, and it generally works as advertised." This doesn't sound like you are sure of t
  14. True Pioneer can just stop providing updates and release a new F series. How would that go over with all their current customers owning the current F-series and knowing that they were left in the dark by Pioneer? Not to well. Every manufacture including Kenwood, Alpine, Eclipse etc provide support for their products, so it doesn't matter what happened 10-20 yrs back weather or not they offered updates, the fact is they didn't have the technology to do so and we the users didn't have a way to accept the update other than shipping back a product so your comparing apples to oranges. Like I state

  16. I have stated as well that I don't mind paying for the Maps... it is the Firmware I have a problem with paying. That's like Microsoft charging you every time a update is released for Windows. We are not talking about a complete OS change like Windows 2000 to XP or Vista and even if they did, in this instance they have a product that is buggy.
  17. I don't think Pioneer should charge for the Firmware updates. I understand the Maps data but Firmware should be free since it is fixing a product that still has so many issues. Issues that were not resolved with the previous 2.0 Firmware update. I would gladly pay for the maps but if Pioneer charges for the firmware, they will loose this customer for life.
  18. The hissing is not a connection issues rather it is a software issue, it has to do with how the software is interacting with the hardware and thus creates the hissing sound. As a matter of fact if you listen when you change the sources you might notice that it gets loader for a few seconds then goes back to the normal volume, the only time the unit does not hiss is when you are in FM and that is because Pioneer does not allow you to chance the SLA setting for FM. I have the same issue with my setup in my Honda Element and since you cannot turn down the gain the factory amp there is little you
  19. Are you sure that this is your Ipod's fault? I've been having this problem (with my Ipod Video) and I used to reset my Ipod to get it to work. Then I started unplugging the Ipod and then plugging it back in, and that worked. Then I started only unplugging the USB portion of the Ipod, and that worked too. I figured it was a problem with my Ipod until I noticed similar behavior with my USB thumb drive. I plugged in the thumb drive, and left it. The next time I turned on my car the USB icon was grayed out and the activity light on the drive wasn't blinking like normal. After unplugging it then pl
  20. I don't think it takes that long to come back, to tell you the truth it plays as soon as it hangs up. Although every once in a while it will take about 2-3 secs or just long enough for me to look down at head unit. I don't pay attention to it as much as before when I had the master volume turned up. Seems like it needs to process the audio TTS and prompts and when you mute it or lower it down all the way it doesn't use the system resources as much. As for you iPod problem here is a dumb question... but do you have the all three RCAs hooked up to the USB/iPod cable and are they hooked up i
  21. The only model that I heard of being released was F900BT and those are on clearance at Best Buy and other chain stores. But I believe that the biggest reason for the price drop has been because of all the issues with the F-series. Even after V2.0 was released people were hesitant to purchase an F-series, so the prices have fallen. Pioneer does not have anything on their website of new F model and didn't advertise it at CES this year. The F90BT is still selling much higher on other online stores, so the price you have is really good. Even if Pioneer does release a new model you are not to get i
  22. Thats a pretty good price for the F90. I don't think you are going to find anything for that price that has nav, dvd play back, ipod and optional traffic.
  23. Looks very clean... I like how you have the mic. By the way I have the same back-up camera.
  24. I totally agree with you on this I am not going to pay nor anyone else should for an update that should have been released with these units. Pioneer should have had all these issues taken care of in QC before it left the manufacture. Version 2.0 update was a band-aid on a bullet wound. Don't get me wrong, the concept of these unit is awesome but fall way short of what was advertised and Pioneer knows this and that is why they came came out with Version 2.0 in hopes of fixing the issues of units. If they were to even attempt to charge for the update they know that's just a lawsuit waiting to ha
