  2. really? most cars have a dash kit, the dash kit is specific to your car, as i do not know what year your versa is, but the last one that i worked on needed a kit (08ish) you can go either here for more information http://metraonline.com/ or here http://bit.ly/L5ug53
  3. dont worry, i'm not angry at all because at the end of the day... this is true and all that really matters. as long as your happy with how it works, then cool beans.
  4. for the record, i have over 10k songs in 50gb loaded on my ipod via itunes, works like a damn champ! first off, i would have put all of the media on the ipod instead of very little (especially since your convinced its a capacity issue) of your library. especially since it did start working after our "test" but then you wasted an entire (insert your amount of time here) re-syncing your library your way just to have it still not work. the whole point of the test was to see if it would start working if you used itunes (which it passed) but then without fully testing it, you went back t
  5. for the versa, did you use a plastic dash kit or the factory metal brackets? If you used the factory brackets, you can drill new holes to be able to mount the radio a little deeper in the dash so it doesn't stick so far out.but this wont help with gap from the slightly bigger OEM Nissan radio. but if you used the dash kit, it should have came with a little piece of trim plastic to fill the gap around the radio, and most brands of dash kits have slotted mounting holes so that you can adjust how far the radio sticks out as different brands can vary a bit.
  6. definitely not, if they were, they would have all the bugs worked out, and these would be the best units on the market hands down!
  7. but when using this source, the screen is black because it is a video source, your just not using it as such. what i would love to see, is an option for audio only so when i have my phone plugged in to the front input, it could at least show the normal GUI screen with at least the clock showing!
  8. +1 as mentioned, it is not an aux input but it is an Audio & Video input. he didn't tell you this to be a dick just to correct you, he told you this because since it is a AV input, the setting needs to be set to "VIDEO" for it to work. ext1 is a setting for future expansion of devices that pioneer may (or more likely, will never) come out with that will plug into the IP-Bus. just tested on our 940 display, setting AV2 to video will make it show up as a selectable source. also your on the wrong page of the manual, try reading page 179, left side about halfway down (cop
  9. to accurately tell you how hard the install will be, we need to know exactly what kind of car it is going into, some cars are easy and anyone should be able to handle it, even first timers, however, there are some cars that will be quite challenging.
  10. the "test" is to use itunes to erase, reformat, AND load music onto you ipod. if you dont have music in itunes, then just put your music into itunes. you dont have to move any music around so it will not effect any of your other libraries. just have itunes search the drive where you keep your music, it will find it and then add it to its library.
  11. ^yep, your radio has a MSN Direct receiver, MSN is no longer broadcasting anything for that receiver to pick up, your unit also does not have any other receivers to pick up any other signals. what really grinds my gears is that pioneer took away the ability to use the traffic information from XM so that you HAD to use MSN (probably due to a large sum of money from Microsoft) and now that Microsoft has abandoned their service, i think they should pay for pioneer to develop a fix!
  12. he is saying that you should try to use itunes to restore (yes, wipe clean, and then resync you media) as a test to see if using itunes will fix the problem what hassle? its a couple of mouse clicks and then walk away from the computer for a couple of hours. sounds pretty simple to me, but it you dont want to try things to get it to work, then i guess your all set with your "plan B" i have also seen non apple software cause issues with some of the pioneer, which is why even though i hate apple and most of what they stand for, i always use itunes, not to mention that it is great software
  13. sounds like a software glitch, try updating the system.

    F900bt help!

where you just trying to use a normal USB sync cable? if so there is your problem, RTFM ^^^this^^^
  15. what has changed since the beginning? are you still using the same phone? or have you upgraded to a different phone?
  16. so... if you hook it up like it says in the manual, it works fine, but when you try to connect in a way that is not shown in the manual it doesn't work? sound about right? sounds like you already have your answer.
  17. wait a minute, your pissed because pioneer didn't plan for what apple was going to release in the future? yeah, that makes a ton of sense, we all know how apple loves to share information with other companies before (or even after for that matter) they release new products or services. actually all joking aside, i was so pissed too when i found out that my Yamaha DVD player wouldn't play Blu ray disc! so i feel your pain.
  18. well for starters, acc power is usually to turn things on, and constant power is usually to keep the memory. now let me get this right, ( a ) your having memory problems? ( b ) you didn't hook the unit up to constant power as shown in the instructions? ( c ) you thought it would be easier to go online and ask questions instead of following the directions and see if that fixes your problem? does that about cover it? if so, i think your answer is somewhere in you manual, RTFM!

I'm sure that it is much safer to look over and down at the radio to see how fast you are going instead of looking at the cluster.
  20. http://bit.ly/KYAuAN Your welcome.
  21. the ASWC wont have any problems working with a pioneer, if there will be any issues, it will be with the aswc working with your specific car.
  22. no there is only one option for muting, this setting is global from anytime the systems need to interrupt the source.
  23. if, with the reverse wire disconnected completely, it is still behaving exactly like it does in the video, you probably have an issue with your AVIC itself. i would remove it completely from the car and hook it up on a bench and test all of its functions, if found defective, you will probably have to send it to pioneer to have it repaired, hopefully it is still under warranty (unless it is new enough to just be returned to the place you bought it from) if it is working perfectly outside of the car, then it is probably time to take it somewhere and have it diagnosed. afterthough
  24. BUT when hooked up like this, you dont get a lot of the designed features. basically your F500 is now a source of the factory radio, so when a call comes in and you listing to either a CD or FM radio, you will have to switch the source over to the aux channel and then answer the phone call, where the system is designed to mute all of the audio sources when a call comes in so that you dont miss the call because you didn't hear it ringing over the music. and same with the unit interrupting the audio source when new directions are giving for turn by turn navigation, if listing to CD or FM radio
