Dude. You really need to relax. You've posted the same thing in a bazillion threads. Yes. YOU had a problem with YOUR Pioneer iPod cable. However, I have two of them with no issues. And, a number of people report losing a channel due to the multi-connector on the back of the unit, not the adapter cable. So, letting folks know their problem MAY be a bad Pioneer iPod cable, like the one you experienced, is fine. But, telling them to just go out and buy a new cable without doing any testing is kinda dumb. N'est pas? (Pardon my French.)

No. That was YOUR problem. While it MAY be his problem, there are other possibilities, such as the ones pointed out by myself and others.

You will need a 2GB SD card. Do a search for "new testmode files", and download and unzip them to a folder you create on the card called "testmode". (Make sure you get the new one, not the outdated one in the Hacks/Mods sticky.) Boot up the Avic with the card inserted. It will boot into a Windows CE desktop. Use a smartphone pointer or some other non-scratching pointer to make touch selections on the screen. Tap Start/Programs/Windows Explorer to open Explorer. Tap once on "My Flash Disk". Choose "copy" from the edit menu. Tap twice on "storage card" to open contents of SD card. Choose "

If the Pioneer engineers would have used logic and common sense in their design, they would have programmed the knob to do track/seek with right/left push and preset up/down with up/down push. They would have also done it across all modes. Of course, that is only if they used logic and common sense, which they didn't. I look forward to the day when "usability" actually becomes one of the design goals of Japanese hardware and software engineers.

Actually, never mind. I found the info in another thread. Apparently, the preset info IS stored in the HD module. The station names do show up in other head units' presets when using the P10. But, they do not show up in the F-series. So, the problem is obviously in the F-series' HD Radio software. Pioneer should be ashamed of such a simple programming mistake. (I assume the issue is the same in the X-series. I'll have to peruse that forum to see for sure.)

If a standard mini-RCA cable plugged into the rear RCA inputs worked OK, combined with how the problem changed channels when you swapped left and right with the Pioneer iPod adapter cable, I'd say you are correct in your assessment of a bad Pioneer adapter cable. I'm not so sure there is anything inherently bad about the Pioneer cable. I use two of them, and they both work fine for me.

I realize that everybody hates the fact that the HD Radio section of the Avic doesn't store the station names in the presets the way the regular FM Section does. However, I was wondering if the preset info is even stored in the head unit, or if it is stored in the extension modules. (For some reason, I can't remember now, it seemed that my XM presets were stored in the XM module.) If it is indeed left to the module to store that info, but the P10 doesn't have that capability, I was wondering if the newer P20HD HD modules might be storing names now? Can you tell me what is the benefit of this new bigger dem file? The map screen looks the same to me. I see no additional detail. And, I still can't tilt the 3D map down any lower, either. It really doesn't appear to do anything differently than the 3.01 dem file. I had to delete about a dozen map, poi, and dem files to make room for it, as well. (I'm positive I won't be driving this car to Alaska, Hawaii, Eurasia, or Africa. And, there's a damn good chance I won't be driving it to any of the Deep South states, as well. I repeat, do I have to delete the original North America and USA dem files, or does the new NA_usa.dem reside in the folder in addition to the originals? I assume, and hope, the originals get deleted as the size of the new dem file will bring the total size of My Flash Disk precariously close to capacity, if not over.

Try turning off "smart zoom", or at least reducing the range from 200-500.

If you're using a PAC SWI-PS, you need to re-program it so the buttons send the preset up/down to the Avic instead of track/seek up down, which is what it is apparently programmed for now. The 3.x software didn't change track/seek to preset, it simply added preset finctionality back in addition to track/preset, the way it always worked with other Pioneer head units.

Do I just copy the unzipped NA_usa.dem file into the DEMfolder in addition to the North_America.dem and UnitedStates.dem files that are already there? Or, do I need to delete the latter two files?

Wow 5 parts. How big is that file? As for smart zoom, can't I just disable it in system settings instead of having to edit a system file? Although, 70deg is still pretty steep. I was hoping for something under 45.

I changed the names of the new files to match the originals, so there were no multiple instances of the same map or poi. The issue I was having is when I browsed POI's near my location. The AVIC listed POI's from both the California POI file and the Nevada POI file. And, because the Nevada sub-category headings are all UPPER CASE, but the California headings are all normally capitalized, it shows duplicate sub-category headings for any sub-category that exists in both files, with one in UPPER CASE and one normally capitalized. Perhaps this issue doesn't happen when one replaces ALL poi files. I only replaced California. So I have a new CA poi, and an "old" NV poi. My guess is everything would work fine if I replaced ALL the poi files. I'll bet the problem would also go away, if I reverted to the old CA poi files.

I assume the ones in there already are TeleAtlas. That's what Pioneer uses, isn't it? I may revert to the previous CA POI, but keep the later maps, and see if it goes back to normal. What are the dates for the Pioneer 3.x maps and poi's? Are they really that old? They might just be new enough for me, anyway.

Thanks. Your post about not needing any licenses threw me off. I went ahead and copied the ezrider and the two lic files mentioned in the OP. The new map appears to work fine. And, the CA POI's show up now. However, when I browse by category, I get duplicate sub-categories, one set for CA POI's, and another for NV. The NV sub-category names are all in upper case text, while the CA set uses normal capitalization.

Do they require the hacked ezrider file? I copied the California map, poi, and building files to the corresponding content folders, and now I get a white screen in map mode, and the closest POI's that come up for my California location are in Nevada.

I guess people have varying perceptions, as I think the Pioneer cable seems sturdier than the Apple-branded ones.

Physically open it up, and take a look. You might get lucky.

You should check the rca connections, and the way the conductors are seated in the white multi connector going into the back of the unit. One of my iPhone channels was out due to one of the conductors not being seated correctly. I assume it came loose during the removal of the Avic pulling on it.

Also in the manual, it has a diagram of the pin assignments. If you use an aux cable other than Pioneer's, you need to make sure it follows that spec. Apparently, some use a different assignment.
