Funny. I think the one in 3.x is kinda small, and preferred the larger on in 2.x. At first, I thought it was my imagination that it got smaller. I'm glad to know I'm not crazy.
  2. Thanks for the info! I have no problem giving up the track/seek functionality in iPod/CD modes in exchange for preset up/down in radio modes. I listen to iPod and CD on occasion. But, my main listening is XM/HD radio by a vast margin. Besides, it's easy enough to hit the volume control right/left for track/seek. I don't think everybody needs to choose between the two, though. The SWI-PS can be programmed to do both, as long as you have enough buttons on your steering wheel. You can even program your volume up/down buttons to change tracks or presets, if you wanted.

But, my main listening is XM/HD radio by a vast margin. From your description, it certainly sounds like remote preset functionality has finally been included in the F-Series with the 3.xx update. About f-ing time!
  4. Another poster, in another thread, mentioned that his external remote (a Sony Stalk?) can now control preset up/down after updating to 3.0. Has anybody else seen preset up/down functionality on their F-series after updating, especially using a PAC SWI-PS? I would like to have some confirmation before going through the trouble of removing the AVIC and reprogramming the SWI. And, if this is truly the case, it's big news. Pioneer's decision not to include remote preset functionality in the F-Series was a huge mistake that made many people upset.
  5. I wonder why? I have two, and they work just fine. Plus, the black color goes better with my interior than that goofy white color that Apple likes to use for everything.
  6. Correct me if I'm wrong. You already programmed those buttons as Preset Up/Down when you first installed the unit (or they came preprogrammed as such). But, up until the 3.0 software update they did nothing. However, they are working now after the update? Is that correct? Or, perhaps I'm misunderstanding. I'm not familiar with the "Sony Stalk" you are talking about. If so, I am going to remove my unit and reprogram my SWI-PS so my steering wheel up/down buttons control presets instead of track/seek. Unfortunately, my car only has one set of up/down buttons, which I originally programmed fo
  7. Which command is that on the PAC SWI-PS? Commands 7 and 8 (Preset Up/Disc Up and Preset Up/Disc Down) do nothing with my F700. So, I use 4 and 5 (Track Up/Seek Up and Track Up/Seek Down) instead. But, I would gladly give up track skip for preset control I use XM and HD radio far more than CD/iPod. Plus, the songs on my CD's and iPod are all songs I like. XM and HD Radio often play songs I don't. So, I need to change radio presets far more often than tracks.
  8. Respect is a two-way street. And, I'm sure Pioneer would garner more respect from users, if they had more respect for their users. Of course, there will always be those who want something for nothing. But, in this case, the users already paid, and generally don't care for being screwed over by being asked to pay for what they already paid for - a properly working product. You also might try trading in a hair of that respect for just an inkling of humor. You'd still have plenty of respect left over. And then, maybe you'd be able to lighten up enough not to make every post a comment about the
  9. Has anyone gotten a PAC unit to change presets? I thought Pioneer removed that functionality from the external remote. (an incredibly stupid thing to do for no apparent reason other than stupidity, incompetence, or hatred for their consumers.)
  10. The password is generated from the Unit ID number. But, you still have to enter the Media ID for the generator to spew out the Unit-based password. And, if the Media ID has been used already, it won't create the Unit-based password. At least that's how it works for the US update SD's and password generator.
  11. I think Boris sits in the next cubicle over from Diannebrat at Pioneer USA.
  12. See my answer to macer20 here: viewtopic.php?f=33&t=27190
  13. You should check to make sure the RCA connectors are attached weel, that the white multi-connector is plugged into the back of the unit well, and that the conductors from the left RCA cable is seated properly in the multi-connector. I had a similar issue at one time with my unit, except I was only getting the left channel. I discovered that the pink conductor from the RCA wire had come loose in the multi-connector. BTW, the reason you still get low end is probably due to the H2's amp/speaker arrangement. There is probably a sub-bass deal that feeds off of both channels, so you still ge
  14. I'm using the 3G with iPhone sw 3.1 and AVIC fw 3.01. It's working OK now that I remembered to re-assign AV1 to iPod after numerous resets. (I had forgotten after the last reset, and thought Pioneer screwed something up. Well, they did, but not with the iPhone.)
  15. Yes. You need to use the Pioneer cable, or the equivalent Apple or 3rd party cable with the AV connections in addition to USB. You ALSO need to set the AV1 input to iPod.
  16. "Interesting" is one word for it. "f-ed" is another. The only good things about 3.01 are the button response, info text readability on the map, and key beep disable. Otherwise, to quote Capt Kirk... "Cons....!" -Takes just as long to boot up, if not longer. -Music during splash screen comes on no quicker than before. -3D Map moves slower, has less detail, and does not display all street names. -Map acts funky and weird, sometimes freezing, and requiring multiple pushes of the map button -Map visual setting does not retain full-screen mode, and the useless information window k
  17. Doesn't the update ask for a password that is generated from an applet on the Pioneer website? How would deleting that file negate the need for that password?
  18. I clearly state in my original post that I was going to BUY it from Pioneer. But, I just do not wish to pay TWICE for what should be FREE to begin with. I am not talking about map updates. I am referring to the FW for the devices that I paid good money for, that should work properly out of the box. If, perhaps, the software engineers, project managers, and group directors had enough respect for their consumers to wait until their products worked correctly before releasing them, and their sales and marketing depts had enough respect for us not to nickel and dime us for a FW update that should
  19. Hi guys. The following question may have been answered. But, it is hard to go thru 31 pages, and searching is difficult without the correct search phrase. So I apologize if it has been. I am planning on buying one set of official update discs, and updating one of my two F700's with it. My question is...Can I just copy the updated system (My Flash Disk, etc) files from that unit to my 2nd F700, after upgrading WinCE using steps 1-8? I'm not getting any DL action on that torrent. And, I'm thinking that it would be easier to just use my own files, if all that torrent is, is just someone
  20. You only have ONE previous post in this thread, so stating twice might be an exaggeration. And, in that post, you only mention mixing maps and POI's, which, based on others' posts sounds like you took maps from one brand and POI's from another. There is nothing to make one assume it is OK to update only certain states, and leave others as is.
  21. THIS was your first post in this thread. Makes it hard to read your earlier post.
  22. Are you sure about that? What would be the point of having to enter a password during the update process then? It seems to me that the password is generated based on the device ID using a specific algorithm. And, that unique password will only work on that device. Otherwise, what is to stop people from simply using that same password on a 2nd or 3rd unit, ad infinitum? And, the media ID is the single-use key through the gateway to the password generation. Correct me if I'm wrong. (Quite frankly, I'm hoping that I am, and one can use the same password on multiple units.)
  23. It may be their football. But, if they're gonna be a-holes about controlling the game, I'll just take the football, and they can watch people play fairly and squarely without their bullying. And, while we're at it, maybe we'll patch some of the holes in the football that we paid them to use in the first place. BTW, since you are such a nice compliant consumer, willing to accept anything offered to you with no questions asked and a smile on your face, I have a bunch of stuff I think you should buy. Just send me money. I'll ship it right out. It all works great too. I'll show you lots of shi
