  1. Thanks. I assumed that something like that would happen. Now, the question is, can the system files be copied from the updated unit to the 2nd unit via SD card in test mode?
  2. Is this the file I should save if I want to preserve my navi Favorites list when doing a FW update? Also, can I manipulate this file to change the order they are listed on the screen? Are there other settings that are saved in files, such as bluetooth parings and radio presets? I'd like not to have to re-do all of that after a FW update. Thanks.
  3. Our two iPhone 3G's work fine with our F700's with the Pioneer iPod cable. They don't charge using that cable, and I occasionally get an error message on the iPhone that says the external device is not designed to work with the iPhone. But, it plays music fine, and is controlled by the AVIC interface just fine. We do need to use separate chargers plugged into the lighter outlets, though.
  4. The media key is not unique to the device key. The media key that comes in the package with the update has nothing to do with the device key of the AVIC unit. However, the password generated at https://www.pioneernavigationupdate.com ... ionupdate/ from entering the media key and device key is unique. And, that is where the real issue is. Does the password generator keep a history of the media keys that have been entered? If not, then that same key can be entered alone with the device key from the 2nd unit. However, there is a damn good chance that Pioneer does keep a history, and will not a
  5. What about using the same media code with a 2nd device code? Would that generate a new unique password for the 2nd device? Or, would it give an error message that the media code was used already? I have an F700 in each of our two cars. I'm not too horribly bent out of shape having to pay the $60 for the SD cards. But, I definitely don't want to pay that twice. (Personally, I think they should provide the 3.0 FW update for free, and charge only for the maps. )
  6. It sounds like you may need to hook up the blue wire.
  7. Here are a couple. I'm new at this. But, the simple one looks pretty good on the display when booting up. Clean and simple. The logoed one looks OK. But, I prefer the clean look.
  8. Are the BMP file names supposed to match the channel numbers of the logos they contain? The reason I ask is that after opening a few of the BMP files on my pc, I notice that some of them do not match. For instance: lps025.bmp shows the Bridge logo. Yet, ch25 is the Blend channel. lps027 shows Cinemagic logo, but ch27 is The Bridge. lps028 shows On Broadway, but ch28 is Escape. I haven't loaded them into my F700 yet. So, I don't know if those map correctly. I had only noticed that the logos don't match the channel numbers indicated in the file names.
  9. I found MSNDirect to be worthless, too. Combined with the fact that I really didn't need DVD playback, I returned my 900BT, and got a 700BT instead. I'm happy to have saved the $175 price diff, and the satin finish matches my console better than the piano finish of the 900, as well. Oh yeah. I get better FM/HD reception now that I don't have to Y the antenna to both the HU and the HD module.
  10. Thanks. I wasn't sure where it went. I also created black, blue, and gray versions, in addition to the original white one. (Although, the gray ended up looking more like a light blue.) I'm using the black one on my own unit. They are all created to match the F's native pixel resolution, and, as such, look very crisp and professional on the lcd display.
  11. Hi. I'm new here. So, I'm not sure if this is the right section to post this. But, I created a VW Logo splash screen, and thought it might be nice to share with others whose AVIC-F's are mounted in VW dashes. I created it to match the native resolution of the screen, so it looks pretty good.
  12. Can't the key beeps be turned off in the settings menu?
