  1. Mine has done this on and off even with the 2.0 firmware. After upgrading to 3.0 I noticed that it finally worked correctly for a day or two. However, it went back to random boots during startup again. My only solution is to unplug the iPod from the unit. If I do that, it always hibernates and wakes when I start the car. This has been my biggest gripe with the system. I hate thy it defaults to playing the iPod after reboot, when my last setting was "off" so I could listen to the radio
  2. One nice "feature" of the new firmware is that if you were listening to the radio (Ipod off), when the F500 boots, it defaults to the radio again (instead of the ipod). I found this really annoying before, and always tried to hibernate my F500 to avoid this.....but now, even after a full restart the last audio source is remembered.
  3. OK. Thanks! So this isn't an isolated event. Seems like an odd way to design the F500..why do it need to rely on its internal battery when powered down???? Can't it just write to some memory so it can be turned off completely...maybe 3.0! I changed the wiring of mine back to the oringial (and correct) configuration and a strange thing happened. It turned on this morning (after 12 hours off) without a reboot. It just awoke as it should! Halleluja! But.... I stopped twice on the way to work and both times (~5 minutes with the car off), the system rebooted. This makes no sense at all. gott
  4. OK guys and girls...i'm still struggling with how to get my F500 to behave correctly when turning off the car. Let me tell you what I just tried, and if anyone has an opinion as to my next step, i'd love to hear it. Basically (see above), every time I turn off the car and then later turn on the car, the F500 reboots (i'm using the ND-G500 amp). If I push the power button, then it goes to sleep...then I can turn the car off and when I turn it back on it "wakes" as I think it should (no full reboot). I was wondering if my power wires (12v and ACC) were crossed in the harness/adapter
  5. hmmm, by (ab)normal, do you mean that this happens to you, but it shouldn't happen.....or are you just referring to the fact that tons of people have issues with these units? Has anyone else had this problem.....i'm wondering if it could be a mixup with the wiring (acc vs. 12 v)......is that possible?
  6. Hi, I've got a rather annoying problem with the F500BT. I usually listen to the radio (NPR geek), and my problem is that if I turn off the car and then restart the car the Ipod always turns on (even though it the AV input was "off" so i could listen to the radio). The only work around is to press the power button once before turning off the car. If I forget, it performs a system startup once the car is turned on. Is this normal? I would have thought that turning off the car would be the same as pressing the power button. Instead, pressing the power button seems to be the only way to "h
  7. So, I see the link says for "in dash" units....no mention of the F500. This happened last time too, right? No initial update for F500 users. Any word if this is going to happen for F500 owners as well?
  8. yep, see: http://www.pioneer.eu/eur/products/25/38/301/CNSD-150FM/specs.html Cool. thanks for the info...good to know. i think f500 owners had t owait longer for the 2.0 update (at least in the US).
  9. I suppose the F500 owners will have to wait a bit longer for this one as well, or.....? Not sure why it took so long to get the software update for F500 last time. I just hope they release it, i'm not sure if they are going to update this model (haven't seen any mention of a hardware update like the other models).
  10. Agreed. According to this thread, it seems that the update will be free (without maps). I think this is fair. My thought is that 20 years ago, a company had to get things exactly right when they released a product. Now, they can release it half-baked knowing that they'll be able to "fix" it soon and make money off sales while "fixing" it. This isn't anything unique with Pioneer. Take video game consoles....5-10 years ago, any game released had very few bugs. Now that consoles are connected to the internet, we constantly get updates/fixes (content that wasn't ready in time for the release,
  11. Hi all, I've read the hardware hack posts, and I see very little mention of the F500. I just installed an F500 and have a few questions/observations. Since this is a portable unit, it seems to work differently from the other F series 1). In one car, i connected the F500 to the ND G500 to fully integrate the system with my factory radio. When installing, I also connected the parking brake (although after doing so, the parking brake light stays faintly on all the time...not sure what that is from!). When the parking brake is not engaged i can't adjust the settings for nav, etc. 2). T
  12. I don't think you "need" a factory head unit. Basically, the NDG500 takes the audio streams from the Avic and head unit and decides which gets priority. I'm not sure why you would do this with the F500 though, since it is not meant to be an in dash unit like the f700, 900, 90. You won't get radio reception with this unit, and it will be much more difficult to install in dash. But, it should be OK. I have had the bad fortune of having two bum 500's, so i'm waiting for my 3rd, with G500 installed. I think you'll be OK though. from what I remember, the amp just grabs the audio wires, and power, a
  13. Awesome.... thanks for your help. I have a wiring diagram for my factory radio, so i'm ready to jump in and break things. Thanks again.
  14. Hi, Thanks for the reply. I see that they are performing a "T" in the G500 wiring, and the point of this is to get power to the amp. My main question is (assuming i'm not going to directly connect factory radio like you did), would i just leave the European plug on the G500 loop that is designed to power the factory unit "unplugged", since the harness also supplies power directly to the factory radio without the use of the G500 wiring? I hate to assume things when it comes to wiring. Would the T in the G500 wiring work just fine to power the amp without connecting the single ISO
  15. Hi again, Sorry, I don't think i was clear enough with my question. My point is that the G500 already reroutes the power back to the original stereo through one of the two ISO adapters. So, I'm not sure why I need/want/dont want the power also going directly to the stereo from the initial interface to the car wiring (prior to entering the G500 loop). Seems like i'm bring the same power line to it twice. Does that makes sense? Would I just skip the part of the G500 loop that returns the power, and just use the ISO connector that returns the speaker wire? By the way, no one I ch
