  1. Everything you need to know: viewtopic.php?f=45&t=25031 Besides the new apple authentication chip and dvd mechanism and the different eject button, it's the same as 900BT with 3.0 firmware.
  2. I recommend what was brought up by another owner - hook up a battery charger during the update so you don't have to leave the car running, but you can leave it in the ON position without fear of unnecessary wear on your battery.
  3. Probably not. It's a small enough demand item that they probably won't be on hand, but available to order at similar prices to Pioneer's website. I doubt 3.0 firmware-installed F-series will ever show up, they probably just slapped the new face on any existing ones, added a couple hundred to the price and called them X-series.
  4. I was using CMH's before using the legit, official retail 3.0 update with no ill effects that I can't say were unique to my install. I'm running IDT's since my 3.0 install, and it's great.
  5. Going by how the Pioneer sales line was swamped for a couple of days from those who heard of the deal on this site, and how few install issues are in this thread, I'd say it's been pretty good.
  6. I experienced something similar - try putting balance 100% to the quiet side and turn up the volume. When I had this behavior, there would be like 60% noise, 40% music. I took the dash apart (you'll have to if you're putting in a new cable anyway) and checked all the wires, which hadn't come undone at all. I put good separation between the iPod wires and everything else. It sounded fine. I put it back together, making sure that no power wires were running close to the iPod cable, and it's been great ever since.
  7. I can see other countries this may be a problem, but is there a cellphone carrier in the US that charges less for a 1-800 number than anywhere else?
  8. Just to clarify the above: Buttons programmed to preset up/down don't do anything else. Buttons programmed to seek up/down do the same thing in 3.0 as they did in 2.0. So unless you have additional preset up/down buttons, you're better off with the seek up/down, unless you listen to a lot more radio than CD or iPod. Pioneer still screwed this up, and should have checked what 90% of car manufacturers and radio makers do with the seek up/down - Preset up/down for single press on radio, hold for seek up/down. A button can be programmed to answer or hang up a call, but the same butto

  10. Opened fine in firefox for me, but it's up to $79 now in the cart.
  11. I had cmh's all-in-one also. I never registered mine with Pioneer either.
  12. Isn't it still $60 at the site after it's been put into the cart?
  13. Another thing about the website - the codes are entered upside-down from the order you write them down on the paper - device on top, media on bottom.
  14. if you have nothing to say just shut the f up I see your facepalm and double it.
  15. jgb, did what you did to change by presets do anything before the update or only after? I'd like to know before I reprogram the steering wheel adapter.
  16. iPod connectivity is same as before, but, with regards to boot time, in 2.0, the music would play and there'd still be a few seconds of load screen, now the music plays and it's 1-2 seconds before the iPod play screen shows. This at least gives the impression that it's loading faster. I haven't used SD cards for audio at all. I need to hack the maps to get the mute and cancel route buttons back. I miss them.
  17. After checking the order status last night, I discovered the massive box had been delivered to my back door Today I installed it. I followed the minimal instructions exactly, copying down the maps version (not sure why they want you to do this). Rebooting with the first SD card, upgrades it to 2.00100 or 2.01 or 2.1 whatever you want to call it. It took about 20min and didn't require any codes or anything. After the install it rebooted. After staring at the splash screen for 4-5min, I gave up on waiting and removed SD #1 and I turned the car off and back on - I recommend leavin
  18. Mine was sitting at my side door all day I could've had this installed hours ago. I'll wait until tomorrow to do the install. But yeah, it says you have to go to pioneer to get a password to install. We'll see. And yes. The Box. Is. HUGE. and has only a CD jewel case with spongy foam holding the two SD cards and a tiny install booklet inside. They should have first-class mailed them all for like $0.52.
  19. Major difference - U310 has a smaller screen, but the navigation is detachable.
  20. Using the PAC-SWI and 3.0 upgrade, it'll do presets if the PAC-SWI output commands are set to seek up/down. The Pioneer unit doesn't do anything with preset up/down set as the PAC-SWI output commands.
  21. Wow, that was the selling point of the F90BT for me, can't believe they'd leave that out.
  22. Voice should be your primary iPod navigation system anyway. I do use the knob, but just to tell it what I want to hear. There's no other good way to select from the thousands and thousands of songs you have on there while driving safely. I'd like to see larger scan boxes for the touch areas, as my passengers hate poking for that 1x1cm spot to skip to the next song.
  23. Must have been those damn British, passengers go on the right!
  24. Do your reverse lights still function correctly right now? If they don't, at least you know you're playing with the right wire, and something's just not completely connected. Also, is your camera always on, or is it turning on/off when you shift into reverse?
