  1. Are they really different circuit boards? From the X910 manual, this is the exact same damn hardware with iGo 8.3. No A2DP, no pause iPod on incoming call. Nothing else is different from my inspection.
  2. http://www.pioneerusa.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Navigation/AVIC-X910BT_OperationManual0512.pdf Judging by the X910, the 3.0 update is going to be minor, especially if it doesn't include the iGo 8.3 Nothing but bug fixes and performance enhancements are all I am expecting now. Which would be good, of course, but none of the enhancements we were hoping for.
  3. Too early to tell if there's anything different hardware-wise, but the hardware was never its shortcoming.
  4. http://www.pioneerusa.com/StaticFiles/Manuals/Navigation/AVIC-X910BT_OperationManual0512.pdf I can't see anything in there that warrants a change from 2.0 to 3.0 - music is still muted instead of paused during a call, for example. I suppose 3.0 could simply be bug fixes and speed optimization. If they do that perfectly, I guess I'd be satisfied with the lack of usability improvements. All I could find was the expected iGo 8.3 features - Page 37: Lane Recommendation Page 38: Heading-Up Mode Anyone else find anything useful?
  5. $70 would make it the cheapest map update any GPS unit has ever had. I'm guessing somewhere around $200.
  6. Sounds more complicated than F90. Pioneer & Complicated have a poor track record together. At very least, it sounds like the best of the Kenwood 9140 and F90 in one.
  7. Good point. Maybe we can use the testmode 2.0 to dump all the 3.0 executables and data files onto a 2.0. Here's to hoping. The good part is, that version 3.0 will be available to test in audio shops all over the country, so it shouldn't be hard to do a side-by-side.
  8. I appreciate the testing as much as anyone here. Now we're all aware that 3.0 will almost assuredly lock out testmode. 2.007 would be expected for bug patches, whereas 2.7 is expected to be most of 3.0, with some changes missing (like new maps). The title should really be "BE AWARE THAT ALL FUTURE FIRMWARE UPDATES (no matter how minor) WILL VERY LIKELY LOCK OUT TESTMODE"
  9. Good Call. $99 price: http://www.msndirect.com/pricing.aspx Somebody needs to tell Amazon. I tried to find the part of the website that says how long they guarantee the service up until. I'd hate for them to roll out something completely similar but incompatible in 2011.
  10. *2.007 - minor update But if they broke testmode there, you know 3.0 will. Here's to hoping it's worth it.
  11. I doubt it'll be long after 3.0 release that test mode gets outs again.
  12. If the install screwed up the airbags, preventing them from deploying, the Airbag/SRS/whatever light on the dash would illuminate.
  13. Title of this thread should read Version 2.007 I wouldn't expect anything notable in such a low number bump. From the Updates File:
  14. Wow, so right now, loading 2.7 = dead end with no improvements?
  15. All was good for a while with my install, but now the right channel went to about 1/4th the volume of the left, and there's a tick-tick-tick-tick that plays even if the iPod is paused. It stopped for a bit after I checked the wires, but today without changing a thing (not even unplugging the iPod) it started again. Any ideas? It doesn't come via the headphone if I plug them in while it's occurring while the connector is connected to the AVIC and playing.
  16. In my G35, I've got it right next to the "reset trip" button/stick. The wire is completely tucked inside the steering column to the center console. Very slick and I haven't had complaints. The GPS antenna works fine under the plastic of the dash. No metal above = fine GPS reception, plastic above = 100% stealth.
  17. It shows up at $123 with that link.
  18. All these updates look specific to the map software, and according to the google: 279 Euros = 399.5001 U.S. dollars They can suck my left nut if they expect $400 (more than you can get the F700 for) just for a map update.
  19. I know it got brought up before, but that was months ago and wasn't much more than what people had heard from shops. Now we've got new the new products announcement on Pioneer's website, and DISCONTINUED posted on one of the largest car audio retailer's websites. So long as they get a significant 3.0 update for the F-series, I'll be happy.
  20. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130F90BT/P ... F90BT.html Item #130F90BT DISCONTINUED F900 and F700 no longer can be found via search on Crutchfield.
  21. Map opening when receiving a bluetooth call? Software. No direction-up on map? Software (limited to iGo version though). Seeking radio instead of preset up/down from steering wheel controls? Software. Annoying tone (without hacks) on button press? Software Not recognizing changes in iPod for VR automatically? Software. At LEAST give it a single "Update Now" button instead of turn on, wait, turn off. Using 1/2 the artist/genre/album screen for three buttons to choose a letter? WTF? give us a phone-style "three presses or less" pad: ABC DEF GHI JKL MNO PQR STU VWX YZ# Instead of u
  22. Check the info screen, that'll tell you for sure.
  23. Bug fixes should be free BUT, any update that offers new features is worthy of a price tag. If the bug fixes and new features are bound, it should be free. If they are separate, I can justify charging for new features. I will not pay for functionality that was advertised and not delivered.
  24. I was pretty sure that "Play the song ..." worked for me.
