  1. I misplaced my 12V to 5V cigarette lighter adapter for my F500BT. I got a new car and don't have room and can't be bothered installing the gateway amp. Currently I am driving around with the amp sitting loosely in a compartment. Where would I get a replacement adapter, or can I just get a random one that's rated for adequate current (which I understand is 3A)? I tried a USB charge that was rated at 1.5A and that made the device reboot rapidly. Thanks, Scradam
  2. Looks bloody fantastic. I would love to do this. Would you be able to put up a tutorial of some sort? You would have my eternal love in return.
  3. It comes with a Cigarette lighter charger, 240V mains charger and the big fat cable that attaches to the suction mount has a wire for the car battery. Soooo. If you're planning to pass it around the car, or mount it in the back or something it should be easily possible. You could either mount using the suction mount and fat cable in the back. Or you could mount it without the fat cable and use the cigarette lighter charger. If you intend to use the car speakers, you will need to buy the (ND-G500 by memory) amp for it and you also have to use the suction mount witht he fat cable. Ho
  4. Check your local car audio store. I ordered my harness through a company that gets their supplies from aerpro.com I'm in Australia btw. Pretty much everywhere I've been sells the harnesses from aerpro. In fact, I haven't seen any other brands of harnesses. Stores sell them for ~20AUD where ordering them through "wes" (which requires a trade license) cost me 7AUD. Hope this helps somehow.
  5. Sorry, I didn't make it clear enough. I meant that; I only recently did mount it. I didn't have the wiring diagram for my car. I couldn't be bothered testing the wires to see which was which. So I waited to get a workshop manual which didn't help so I ended up buying a harness from mazda to iso. To me it seems sub-standard compared to the in-dash units. However, for the price it is a very very good unit.
  6. Yeah, you can install them all. I haven't come across one that I can't. You have to check your sys.txt and make sure it has the appropriate code for 500BT at the top. If you have voice control it would be. [device] type="PIONEER749UC" If you do not have voice control it would be. [device] type="PIONEER749EW" UC is for USA and Canada I think... and EW for the rest... I'm pretty sure anyway. Good luck.
  7. You have to go from "off" straight into starting the car. Don't stop at accessory power. I THINK this is the way to do it. I haven't had mine mounted in my car for long. Good luck.
  8. No, the gateway amp does not have any pre-outs. You would have to buy an amp suitable for no pre-outs. They need what (I think) is called a low level input. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. You might want to go into your local car audio store and ask them if they have any amps that work without pre-outs.
  9. Haha, thanks. I didn't think to check if you could turn it off. My battery is pretty good, it lasts at least 2 hours.
  10. Yeah, took me the better part of the afternoon/evening and part of this morning haha. Most of the time was getting the mass of cables in there and finding a place for the amp. I couldn't be bothered cutting and re-soldering the cables to shrink the mass of cables. I now have a hiss that starts a little after music is paused on my F500BT. It isn't there when playing, or when AV source is set to off... My deck doesn't have it either. Any suggestions?
  11. I just grounded my parking brake wire and had no issues. Never tried it without it grounded but I was using my F500BT stand-alone previously and never required it which is a given I guess. Just solder the parking brake wire (light green) onto the ground wire (black) I would suggest reading the instruction manual that came on the F500BT disc to make sure you're getting the right wire. Good luck.
  12. You don't choose the pics from the music screen(s) haha. Go into the splash screen selection screen and have a look in there. I have not done it this way as I copied them in test mode while I was there. I have heard that you need to name the folder "pictures" but as I said, I have never done it this way. Good luck.
  13. You can either use the amp designed for it, or use an AUX input on the radio/stereo/headunit/deck. (whatever you want to call it ) If your stock deck has AUX in then you may use that, else you have to buy an aftermarket one... OR just buy the gateway amp.
  14. Do you have a 500BT? Mine is there all the time if I'm using battery or if I'm running it off cig charger. I am yet to try it in the mount but if it goes away then there will be no reason for me to move it as I intend to have it in the mount pretty much all the time.
  15. I was intending to skip out on the amp and just use the aux input on my deck but I received a free amp bundled with my F500BT, yay! I'm installing mine today as the parts I needed arrived this week. I'm intending on mounting it on the dash rather than the window but am not sure how to do so at the moment. So, yes you can use it without the amp as long as you have a deck with aux input. The deck will act as your amplifier and could possibly be a more powerful amp as well. Good luck.
