  1. I just wanted to say Thank You to all the nicely detailed methods listed to perform the upgrade. I decided to take a safer route and use a different drive for the upgrade, so I could hold on to the original drive in case I had problems. A couple of things I wanted to note: 1. Like a few others on the forum, I installed my replacement drive into a notebook and was able to successfully disable the security lock on the drive via MHDD. After setting the option I gave it a reboot and double-checked. Sure enough it kept the setting. 2. Replacing the drive is actually an easier path and allo
  2. I just want to mention to Z1Help that my house isn't on the Z1's map either. According to my Z1 I live in a marsh . Anyways, you can always just mark any point on the map as your home, even if it's not on a street. So while a bunch of streets aren't around me, the Z1 will get me close enough to my house so that I know how to get home from that point anyways. I will say that the fact that your 6+ year old street is not on the map is rather odd, but honestly any map gripes should be with Teleatlas, since they provide the maps to Pioneer. Either way, it still sucks not to have your street
  3. I'd have to say that a lot of the frustrations I was having in regards to navigation on the Z1 went away when I started changing the route options dependent upon whether or not I wanted to be on the highway, toll road, etc.
  4. I don't see an option for it anywhere. Where exactly can you select the Pioneer?
  5. Quite honestly, the price range you're being quoted is not outrageous. If an installer knows what they're doing and they take the time to do a clean, un-cluttered install, it will take some time and the price is (IMHO) justified. Some people like the challenge of doing an install even if they've never done it before. If you're willing to take the time and potential risk of messing your car up, go for it. Even though I'm very technically computer literate, I don't know jack s**t about tinkering with a car or its' electronics. I suppose I could have figured it out, but I really don't hav
  6. ...(jaw drops). Sorry, didn't mean to drool on your nice Italian sports car And yes, I have nothing to contribute to this thread other than to say that the Gallardo is a beautiful vehicle. I wouldn't mind seeing more pics either.
  7. ducati, yes, that's exactly what I was thinking and what I wanted to know. Guess we'll all just have to wait.
  8. Does anyone have a link so I can search for authorized Pioneer sites where I can go and get this update done?
  9. This was really, really tough for me to choose 1 thing. Considering that the top reason I got this thing is for the navigation capabilities, that's what I had to go with. But a very close second would have to be fixing the iPod controls. I have over 8,000 songs on my iPod now, and navigating with the on-screen menu is just too slow. If I didn't have an iPod, I would definitely want to have the ability to upload my MP3s. Although not being able to easily upgrade the 2.5" drive in the unit pretty much kills that desire.
  10. I did find it after I posted, and I have added the setting. That will be awesome if this works! (oh, and someone should sticky this too).
  11. rlith, where can I get PHMEDIT? I can't find it anywhere. Your answer seems like that could possibly fix my infrequent BlueTooth disconnects.
  12. tillithz, thanks for your explanation, even if it was somewhat over my head . Let me ask this a different way: How can I get good sound using the Z1 without replacing my existing speakers?
  13. action, I did actually drive the car around the block while I checked those speeds. The speeds did increase and decrease along with my driving, but always had a minimum speed when I was parked or stopped. I'll complain to my installer about this and have him check the VSS wiring. Thanks again everyone.
  14. cntrylvr79, you'll have to pardon my ignorance, but why would my best option be to remove the Bose speakers? Those speakers sounded great with the factory system, so why shouldn't they sound great with the Z1? Is there anything I can have my installer check to work on it?
  15. action and ducatiboy, thanks for your suggestions. When the ignition is off, the key is in Accessory, and the car is in park, the speed pulse in Connection Status and the speed listed in 3D Calibration Status is 0. When I turn the ignition on but still stay in park, the Speed Pulse in Connection Status is going back and forth between 8 and 9. The speed listed under 3D Calibration Status is 21mph. What should I have the installer check for in this case? I also had the installer do the bypass (which seems to be working correctly). Could that be causing an issue?
