  1. Just an update: I did eventually get the warning again. I've now done the "bypass trick" and so far so good. No parking brake message as of yet. For now, I didn't change anything with the parking brake, so I just click it up a notch when I need to do "forbidden" changes. I may just ground it 'cuz it's annoying to have that red light on the dash.
  2. This could be completely off the mark, but could the vss wire be hooked up to a tachometer sensor by mistake? I'm trying to figure out myself which wire to connect the vss lead to in my 2000 Pathfinder (if any one knows....) and I seem to remember there being a wire that senses engine speed on the electrical diagram. I don't know how similar/different the signals are, but if the Z1 were getting a signal from this wire, wouldn't it think that the vehicle was moving even though it was idling (since the engine isn't stopped)? I guess if that is the case, then you could try stopping the engin
  3. I have/had a Sirius Sportster. I just installed the Sirius tuner (I haven't activated it yet) and used the old antenna. Seems to pick up the signal, no prob. The connection is identical.
  4. They did not do the "secret" wire trick. There is only one connector hooked up and the other (2) was still in the box. Come to think of it, I do remember seeing the parking brake message a couple of times at first, but I haven't seen it lately (with all of my 3 days experience ). Anyway, that being said, I have an electrical engineering friend of mine who is going to put an extra pin in the connector so I'm going to wire it the "right" way. I was just going to try and keep it as "legal" as possible ("Why no officer, you can't watch a DVD while the car is in motion, see?" ).
  5. I posted this elsewhere, But my Z1 seems to work with only the parking brake grounded. I have over 400 miles on it (in one day, however), and I just tried to watch a dvd on the highway with only the brake grounded and it worked. I don't think my speed pulse line is connected, though.
  6. I just posted about this elsewhere, but I don't think my vss wire is hooked up because the speed sensor always reads 0. However, I spedometer still gives me a reading.
  7. I'm not sure if this has has been posted somewhere else, but in my case, I think that just grounding the parking brake will do the trick. I purchased my Z1 at CC (after browsing this forum over and over) 3 days ago. They connected the parking brake so, of course, when the break is off (disengaged), I can't watch DVDs or enter nav points. However, when I click my parking brake one notch (not enough to actually engage the brake, but enough to trigger the switch), the functions return. I originally thought that they would disappear after hitting 15 MPH but they are still there. I was able t
