  1. The only change I have found is CarPlay connection (via USB) while the iPhone is locked. Better than nothing, I guess.
  2. I owned the previous Parrot double din model. It had a lot of potential but was really buggy, not ready for prime time. If the new one is like the last, the underlying OS is an out-of-date Android version, modified to work in a car. I'm not saying the new one won't be good, but I would wait until they prove that it is a stable system. I am much happier with my 4000.
  3. My wife used to have an '04 Prius. While driving, you couldn't select the INFO button on the radio to see the name of the artist and song. Instead, Toyota provides the same info scrolling across the screen. In other words, they want you to take your eyes off the road for 5-6 seconds to read the scroll but not to see it all on one screen for a second of two.
  4. Connect a second USB/Lightning cable to USB2 and plug your phone into that one. No CarPlay.
  5. I should have tried that as well. It works great now and no pop when shutting down. I'm a happy camper!
  6. I did the upgrade via SD card with firmware from Pioneer's site. It went thru all the steps and rebooted. I plugged my iPhone 6 into USB 1 and the AVH-4000's screen flashed "attempting to connect to Carplay" then it went back to looking like the old version except Aha was added to source list. Under setup, I have selected USB1 for smartphone. All other devices were disconnected. Where is CarPlay? I am doing something wrong?
  7. Since CarPlay is probably going to be vaporware for quite a while, what other brand would be a good choice? I would like Sirius/XM, nav, iPhone 6 compatibility and above all, easy for my wife to use.
  8. I just tried again. What I found is that if I am listening to Pandora, it will play over the Waze instructions just fine. But if I select Sirius, then AppRadio to get to Waze, the music goes away. Any suggestions to keep Sirius working?
  9. I just installed my 4000NEX and so far I love it. Is there a way of listening to a music source while using a GPS program, like Waze? I searched the manual for "map" and "GPS" but there is no explanation.
  10. I just added the GPS and Bluetooth modules to my AVH-P4200DVD. Only real problem is my wife's iPhone 4 (iOS 5.01) will not aut-connect via bluetooth. She must go into the phone's settings menu and enter the PIN to connect. EVERY TIME SHE STARTS THE CAR! My iPhone 4S will connect without me doing anything. Is there a fix so she doesn't need to reinitialize each time?
  11. Simple, add the BT200 bluetooth module. My 4200 does Pandora or iPod music via bluetooth from my iPhone.
  12. After all I have read and experienced with my F90BT, I have had enough. I cannot believe that Pioneer would sell a product so buggy. I am selling my pos and getting something that works as it was designed.
  13. Let me update my post. This morning I started the radio up again and just like old times, the stations just kept scanning after I jabbed the button, the "OKAY" button couldn't be pressed and it acted like the firmware 2.0 version. I am pissed! Never buy pioneer!!!!
  14. I just got back in town and did the update. I can happily report that the station presets now scan with the Pioneer wired marine remote. Volume up or down no longer continues to rise or drop after I let go of the button. If I hit a button on the screen, something happens! It's like Pioneer tried to copy Kenwood, Alpine, Clarion, Panasonic and EVERY other company in the way things work. It's about time, Pioneer.
  15. And this really pissed me off! I am using a Sirius Sportster 4, which displays ALL the info.
  16. I can hit the preset scan, search OR volume and sometimes the F90 will just keep going scanning thru the stations or increasing volume as though I was still holding the button down. Any fix in sight?
  17. Just hooked it up*. The volume, scan, source, mute and band select work. The one feature I bought it for doesn't work; preset scan. * I just plugged in the mini jack, I didn't hookup the power leads. Not sure if that will make any difference.
  18. I sure hope so, I just got one for my F90BT. I will hook it up later this week.
  19. Considering the latest new prices, I would guess that $400 would be be a fair price for a used unit.
  20. Mine has the same prob. After recalibrating, all finger presses work when touching the appropriate button, but the back button seems really fussy about hitting it on just the upper half of the button.
  21. I bought a Pioneer CD-SB10 and a Sirius SCVDOC1 dock to use with my Sportster 5. That way I can swap the Sirius radio from one vehicle to another. The Sirius stations show up on the F90 screen just like it was built in.
  22. I have a portable battery for jump starting cars. I used that and a pair of extra speakers to check out the system. Good thing, I found that the GPS antenna had the wrong connector. Also did the hardware bypass and made sure it worked as well.
  23. I am shopping for a new stereo/nav for my motor home. The 2 I really like are the AVIC-F90BT and the Kenwood DNX8120. I searched this forum for references relevant to my type of install but found nothing. What I would like to ask is, since the engine is 40' from the stereo and the parking brake is very different from a normal car, can I get around the need for a speed sensor connection and parking brake hookup? Are there any other complications I haven't thought of? Thanks for helping out a noob.
