  1. Well, Pioneer Canada said the upgrade worked without an issue once they re-imaged the unit. Charged for 1 hour of labour, but the vendor that I bought the unit from "made it right".
  2. I mounted mine flush on the console by the center vents (lots of room on the Excursion). I used a large rubber grommet, and it holds it very securely. Would probably work better if it was closer to me, but this way the front seat passenger can be heard clearly!
  3. Spin2Win

    Which Ipod?

I suggest you check the list of supported iPods and their software versions. Pioneer doesn't support the newer ones, but does still support the "Classic" series. But best to double check!
  4. I thought Trapster provided the speed trap locations as Points of Interest. As such, you should be able to import the POIs from an SD card. Anyone try that? How does it work? Can the GPS display all the radar trap POIs?
  5. Pioneer Canada says there was nothing wrong with the SD upgrade cards. They will restore the unit then will do the upgrade, but are charging me for 1 hour labour. Support guy says someone must have hacked the unit, causing the upgrade to fail. Totally sucks because I can't prove anything. Hope it fails when they do it!
  6. I had the same issue - read error at 3% on the second card. I do have the hardware handbrake bypass, but can't understand how that would affect reading an SD card. I did pull the unit out, and it is currently with Pioneer Canada. The support analyst was very apologetic, as I was the second caller in 24 hours with the same problem. Should have some answers later this week.
  7. Spoke to Pioneer on my install problems (hangs at 3%, and after 3 retries, tells me to call Pioneer Support). They told me that it is not covered under any warranty, as I bought the unit on line through amazon.com. PITA - Now I'm calling Amazon to see if they can do anything. Not too hopeful. The support guy said that they've sold 185 upgrades in Canada, and have heard of no problems. Rob
  8. ARGGGHHH!!! Had a card read error on the second card at 3%. Hit retry 3 times, and got the "Call Pioneer" error. I'll try to copy the card and try again.
  9. Random results? I started out with an iPhone 3G OS2 connected to my AVIC-F900BT via a Monster A/V iPod cable. I routinely got the "This Accessory is not made to work with iPhone - Do you want to switch to Airplane mode?" error. I could answer No, and the phone would continue to work. The IPod would play through the AVIC, and I could make Blue Tooth calls and directory exchanges. It did not seem to charge, though on one long trip, it stayed at max charge for the whole trip, and was fully charged when I pulled it out of the car. Seems that charging works sometimes, but not others.
  10. I just spoke with Pioneer Support in Canada, and the update can be ordered now, for shipping in September. If you order now, the cost is $75 plus $21.05 for shipping and taxes. The price goes up to $150 at the end of September. For my AVIC-F900BT, the part number is CNSD-100FM. Hope the SD cards are at least 4GB to make it worth the bucks!
  11. Daughter had hers installed with the wire running up the "A" pillar, and clipped on to the sun visor. I installed mine in the dash - right between the passenger and driver. I feel I've got to speak up to be heard clearly, but no-one has ever complained about problems hearing me.
  12. If you've ever soldered, then do it yourself. If they're charging more than $250 for the install, learn to solder.
  13. I too am using a non-Pioneer AV cable, and my iPhone 3G does not charge. Though I ordered the Pioneer cable, it was out of stock, so I just grabbed the closest thing with I was picking up the mounting hardware. The cable worked for music, and looked like it was charging, so I kept it. Sounds like I'll need to donate it to a good cause (but I'm not holding my breath for the $50 tax receipt).
  14. The Sirius radio interface can show any of Station, Composer, Artist, or Song. There's room on the screen, so why not display all of the above?? Also, the unit should have memory, much like a PVR, so you can pause a song, and pick it up from the point that you paused it.
