  1. WD 2.5" Passport formatted to FAT32 works like a charm, just have to give it a couple minutes to read and organize the files in a certain way
  2. Well I think I figured out how to load all my videos on an external with minimal wait time and no freezes. All the videos should were re-encoded to 640x480, 25fps, 400 bitrate, stereo 64 bit sound. The audio and video sync nicely and playback is pretty sharp, better than when I played videos from a usb pen drive without any re-encoding. The trick (or annoyance) to getting the minimal wait time and without freezes between skipping through files is to just load all of them in a single folder. I was getting freezes everytime I tried to switch folders within my video files, but once I copied a
  3. so far no issues with my f700bt. I got a WD passport 250GB off of craigslist, quick formatted it to FAT32, loaded a bunch of music and movies on it. Purchased a DC to USB adapter from Harbor Freight for $5 and a mini-usb to USB Y cable from ebay for $3. The f700bt took a good 3 minutes to scan the harddrive, at the beginning I didn't think the unit was recognizing it. After it scanned It displayed everything as if I had my 8GB usb thumb drive hooked up.
  4. Live in Harrisburg, driven to Lancaster area along Rt.30 a number of times with the f700bt. Never had any issues.
  5. Was anyone ableto verify the f700bt files? I need to do a wipe and reinstall thx
  6. i have zero problems with my avic and my RS for the year that i have had them both, every car is slightly different however and some situations might need to be worked around as listed in this thread same here. I have the f700bt and a Aviator with factory remote start. No problems since install.
  7. did you use the amp to integrate it into your car speakers?
  8. if you did the hardware bypass, check your splicing for the grounds. The same greyed out icons kept appearing for me even when I had everything set up correctly for the bypass. I undid all my taps for grounding out and turns out they didnt make a clean connection. I ended up splicing them together, old school style and everything worked perfectly.
  9. hey xterra, did you have any luck doing the f500bt install in place of your factory HU? How did you wire it? did you end up using the pioneer amp? Thanks so much.
  10. Well I can tell you it does work using the HTC Fuze's TV-Out and the f700bt. I will tell you a consistent connection like wi-fi is a must, because driving on the go will not hold a strong and consistent enough data signal from you phone. I tried it with my data connection and it was jumpy at best while on the move, but not too bad when sitting still. With the iphone I believe you must use slingplayer over wifi anyway, so it should display as long as you have a tv-out software downloaded. It will not work through the front aux-in, but will work through any of the rear RCA audio/video in's.
  11. i would definitely recommend it. I got mine for 250 refurb and havent had a problem since install except for the extra characters in my phonebook transfer which messes with the VR calling. But there is a fix for that on here. The boot time is definitely not as bad as people say with 2.0. Actually I usually boot it with the ipod as the last music before turning off and it resumes in under 30 seconds. The sound is far and away superior to most factory system, it made my Lincoln's factory speakers sound so refreshed. The video playback is smooth and sharp but if I had one complaint it would
  12. i ordered the CD-RM10 cable but the video didn't seem to work with the couplers I used to connect my video in. Got a black and white output on the avic that wasnt steady. Im guessing its due to the different pinouts as mentioned before. Am I mistaken that its possible to do video though the front 3.5mm jack with the RM10 cable?
  13. so does the AV2 work for video with a generic 3.5mm to rca cable?
  14. alright, 3rd times a charm! went back to check wiring today. looks like the tap I used to link the pbrake and ground didn't pierce. Hardwired the pbrake to the frame and now everything works. thanks for all the past posts that emphasized checking the connections!
  15. ok i did some more trial and error, i get the strictly prohibited message when trying to play video through the AV sources even when parked. I am guessing the parking brake isnt properly grounded?
