koush replied to sofakng's topic in NEX Series
Hi, Great write up. Can you post up some screen shots or videos of the unit in action, like sat nav and ipod screens? Thanks Koush -
No, sorry I'm not that Koush.

Can you take it back to where you bought it from and ask for a replacement? In the UK most shops will just replace the unit and they deal with sending it off to the manufacturer. Koush

Looking forward to your review, I want to get the 960dab. let me know what sat nav software it has as some website from Germany are saying it has IGo. Thanks Koush

What navigation software does it have? Can you get a video up once its up and running? Koush

I believe that overlay is to guide your vehicle into a spot, you can adjust the width to your car width also. To answer VBLUE; From what the 2nd paragraph says, news about the navigation software, based on the IGo. Maybe I am wrong, but that's what it says. Koush

I came across this website whilst searching for the European specs; www.carhifi-store-buende.de/blog/pioneer-avic-f850-avic-f960bt-avic-f960dab-und-avic-f60dab You will have to translate to English, but on the 1st paragraph is states the Sat Nav System and the operating system of the unit, which is Andriod. I was looking for info on the European versions and came across this website; www.carhi_store-buende.de/blog/pioneer-avic-f860bt-avic-f960bt-avic-f960dab-und-avic-f60dab On the 1st paragraph it states the software for the nav and operating system of the unit which is Android. Koush

Just found out the Nav software they are using is IGo, which can be updated via Naviextra.com website. From my past experiences using other sat nav, its not bad. Koush

At least Pioneer USA/Canada acknowledge the units exist, Pioneer UK will not give any info, and their website does not even mention them, except a press release. Koush
-
Great find, I will have to keep an eye out for when they actually come out. Koush
-
for me the sound quality of the pioneer is far superior to the clarion, regardless of the features, for me sound quality is more important. Koush

I stand corrected, I wish they would go back to iGo software, or have so you can use whatever software you wanted to load on the unit, like some of the cheap Chinese units. I know you can down load apps, but they require smartphone with data, which I don't have. There are software apps like Navfree which load maps onto your device so you can use the maps off line, will the NEX have that capability?

I thought Pioneer used their own map for the earlier unit like the f700 and f900, which were good detailed maps but since the f920 have been using other manufacturers sat nav like navteq and they have not been the same since. rso81, to answer your question why Pioneer, for all it faults, the sound quality and level of adjustment for me is better than Alpine, JVC, Kenwood Clarion. I think they have better mapping and some of their UI are better, but sound quality, for me its Pioneer. I believe Alpine, and Clarion use Naviextra maps, Kenwood use Garmin, not sure what JVC use. Hi, Does anyone know if the NEX range will be available in Europe, in particular the UK. I contacted Pioneer UK, and the guy would not say yes or no, just kept saying they are only supporting the current line up for the for seeable future. Thanks Koush
-
Hi, Yes I believe you do, as USB only controls the ipod, but sound is carried through the 3.5mm plug. Koush
-
I think Pioneer are saying if you look in the 3d calibration tab under nav settings, it displays your current speed, but as far as I know, it doesn't display it on the map. Koush
-
The units in the UK don't display actual speed, but the speed limit of the road travelling on. It displays the speed, next to the name of the road. Its on page 130 under customizing preferences for the f940.I have had a look at the f950 manual, I think that is the equivalent to the X950, it states it on page 128 under customizing preferences. I have also looked at the X950 manual and it does not state this feature, how strange that they would leave this out for the American market, but have it for Europe. Koush

Hi, I have a F920bt in the UK, and that displays the speed limit of the road I an travelling on. I have also update the firmware and map to the F940. Is the unit in the states have different software for this? Koush

Just to let everyone know, I have sorted the problem. I have connected my VSS wire and, now it is very accurate. Koush

Hi, I have the above unit, and I've noticed the navi is out by about 50 feet all the time. I have checked and usually have about 12 satelites connected, I have move the antenna in better line of site, and reset the calibration, but make no difference. I have modified my location, but it soon goes out after 1 mile. The main problem is I keep missing my turns because when it says the turn, I am already past it. Will the ugrade to the map software solve this issue? Any suggestion? I have other sat navs and this one is the worst when it comes to accuracy. Thanks Koush
