1.

This is not possible. The AVIC has no ability to transmit data. The GPS antenna is "receive only". The first part of GPS tracking requires an antenna to receive position data. The AVIC obviously does this. The 2nd part requires a device to wirelessly transmit this position to a central location. The AVIC CANNOT do this. This is why you can track cellphones and cars with OnStar. It's also the basic premise behind Lojack. They relay their position via cellular transmission to a central location.
You sir, are COMPLETELY in

 3. Orlando has it... well, at least it shows traffic incidents and construction information. The Traffic Flow doesn't show for Orlando though. Personally, Nav Traffic has not helped me get to work any faster when there's an accident or bad traffic, but then again, there's pretty much only one way I can take to work.
 4. That would be pretty hard to figure out, and unlikely. We've already narrowed down the interlock being controled by the software, and usually these things have a solution that doesn't need to be done every time like pushing buttons. I mean, without insider knowledge that's pretty much impossible to know the buttons, how long to hold them, and when. I would not say impossible. If someone can figure out that you need to pulse the Illumination signal at x seconds for y amount of times, then this doesn't seem impossible either. Just a thought though. Not being able to bypass is what is h
 5. What if the bypass isn't a hardware bypass but maybe as simple as combination of keys pressed to access a hidden menu? Could be something like holding down two buttons for 10 seconds, or something like that. Has anyone tried this?
 6. I agree with coocho. After all, we did pay a good amount for the hardware... at least I did, and after plopping down over a thousand for an in-dash GPS unit, I'd like to think that we're entitled to some benefits, like "free" updates, or at least a downloadable update. I've even invested in accessories like XM/Navtraffic receiver, Sirius receiver, ipod adapter, Bluetooth adapter... how much more money do I have to keep investing into this unit? The features of the Z2 software do seem very appealing, but is it worth $250 just to pop in a CD? I think I'll wait and see if a "backup copy" star
