  1. Pioneer does make a double DIN install kit. http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/par ... =ADT-VA133 I used it with my AVIC D-3 in my Saab 9-5. Also, consider this from Clarion: http://www.crutchfield.com/S-lva3VKPFMy ... I=0202DBKT Charlie
  2. Wulf, That is a great write-up. I have a 2002 9-5 Aero which I installed an AVIC-D3 in a couple of years ago. I've reinstalled twice, changing the mounting bezel/sleeve each time to improve appearance. Most recently I used the Pioneer ADT-VA133 but I wish I would have known about the Clarion sleeve you used. It looks terrific. Cheaper too. Also, I didn't need to install a resistor to program the SWI-PS. Great job. Take care, Charlie
  3. Ben, Mine works perfectly with my D3 and BTB200. It sounds like you did everthing I did. You don't have a BTB100 by any chance? They are not quite as agile.
  4. I have the D-3 in my 2002 9-5 Aero. What I did was cut off the back of the existing cage and drilled holes in the side of the cage to align with the tapped D-3 holes. As far as cabling I soldered the D-3 cables to the adapter provided by Crutchfield. My Aero has the Harman Kardon Prestige sound with an amp so I soldered RCA plugs to the respective lines in. I have attached a spreadsheet with the color codes. I had an amplifier thump when turning the radio off which was eliminated by installing ground loop isolators in the audio lines. Another guy on this board installed a D
  5. Once I got the phone properly registered on my D3 it has autoconnected reliably. Of course, that is ony one day's experience! Charlie
  6. VBlue, Thanks for the tip. That's a good workaround. I sure hope Apple improves the bluetooth capabilities.
  7. That has been my experience as well. I keep hoping for a breakthrough!
  8. There are probably no absolute answers to this but can anyone speculate on how the new Apple iPhone will perform with the BTB200 and the D3? The iPhone will be released on June 29th.
  9. That's not a bad idea. I'll have a look tomorrow,
  10. I knew that was an option but was hoping to find an alternative. Thanks, again.
  11. I appreciate the response, cntrylvr. That would probably work if I didn't leave the lights in the autosense mode. i imagine a photocell trips a relay somewhere but I don't have a decent wiring diagram for the car. I suppose I could start using the headlight switch but prefer not too. Amazing how lazy I've become. All three of our cars have automatic headlights. Thanks, again. Charlie
  12. The Saab 9-5 radio harness does not have an illumination wire. The car has daytime running lights. Any suggestions on where to connect the D3 illumination line so that the day-night feature is functional would be appreciated. Thanks.
  13. Guess I got one of the last from Pioneer directly. On Pioneerelectronics.com there is no buy button and on part.pioneerelectronics.com it says: Your Price: $15.00 Status1: Temporarily Out E.T.A. More than 60-days
  14. Crutchfield's site says they don't carry it-"Optional Remote Control: The AVIC-D3 is compatible with the optional CD-R55 remote control (not sold by Crutchfield)." That's why I ordered direct from Pioneer.
  15. I ordered one from Pioneer and it arrived today. It was $15 plus $5 shipping plus tax. It took 9 days from the time I ordered it from CA until it arrived in NJ via UPS.
  16. Service Provider: Cingular (The new AT&T) Phone: Motorola ROKR E1 SW Version: R373..G..DE.30.34R..A Auto-Connect: Yes Basic Function: Yes Phone Book Transfer: Only if you push phonebook from phone, one at a time Voice Calling: Not tested Signal & Battery Strength Indicator: Yes / Yes BT Audio Capable: Unknown
  17. I hooked it up to constant power to my amp in the right passenger well. I mounted XM and bluetooth under the glove box so that was a convenient source. The unit is switched by the head unit so it won't be powered up all the time.
  18. Well I figured later that Pioneer dropped RDS a few years ago. My assumption was that an upscale radio would have RDS. It should. The thread is a wish list. I admittedly didn't to my homework but you didn't have to take the opportunity to flame me.
  19. Before buying the D3 I incorrectly assumed it would have RDS. It should.
  20. Well Crutchfield exchanged my BTB100 for a BTB200 and things are improving. My Motorola ROKR E1 now autoconnects but I still had to push my phonebook from the phone.
  21. The preset problem is an annoying one. I get around it by using steering wheel controls and the PAC SWI-PS. I remember reading that there was a Pioneer remote that would work but I don't remember the model number.
  22. Crutchfield just agreed to replace my BTB100 with a BTB200 at no cost. I hope it improves connectivity with my ROKR E1.
  23. I mounted my BTB100 under the glove box in my Saab Aero. I pulled constant power from the power lead to the amp right of the passenger footwell.
