  1. I too am disappointed in the routing. I live just off of exit 43 on I-295. It tells me to get off at exit 45. When I don't it tells me to go to exit 40! Maddening. I went to the Teleatlas website and reported it but their map on the web clearly shows the exit 43 interchanges and has the traffic flow in the right directions. It is stubborn when you skip a recommendation but recently it seems less so. I may be imagining that. Maybe I am just gettng used to it. Finally, for the past day or two it seems to take a couple of minutes to finally get the location right.

    Saab 9-5 install

Grex, My thump is gone. I installed the two PAC SNI-1 ground loop isolators today and they took care of the thump.
  3. I would ask for Frank. He went out of his way to make my D-3 order perfect. He's a good guy who got permission from his supervisor at 11 pm to honor a discount the next day after it was supposed to expire. Unfortunately, I don't have his extension number any longer.

    Saab 9-5 install

GREX, I actually got two PAC SNI-1 ground loop isolators on eBay for 5 bucks each. They are smaller than the Radio Shack version. I haven't installed them yet. I am waiting for my free camera to arrive from Crutchfield and will do it all at once, probably next weekend. Nice job on the iPod. I ran the cable for mine to the passenger well where I have an optional Saab holder installed. My install can be seen at http://web.mac.com/w2tv/iWeb/Site/Library%203.html Click on a photo for a closer look. Please let me know if you lick the amplifier thump and I will do the same.
  5. This morning on the way to work my D-3 jumped from AM memory 1 to AM memory 2. I thought I bumped a steering wheel control. I changed to XM. It also started jumping every 20-30 seconds from one preset position to another. I thought I had a stuck steering wheel button but every button functioned properly so I don't think so. I noticed that all of the presets were back on XM Channel 1 so I reprogrammed them. On the way home from work XM kept scanning again so I gave up and shifted to my iPod which was fine. Anyone have an idea what is going on? Is a simple reset going to fix everyt
  6. I am curious where you guys have mounted your reverse cameras? They sure seem pilferable at the locations in the Pioneer camera manual.
  7. I have a Motorola ROKR E1 which will not autoconnect. I can initiate the connection from the phone but sometimes have to reboot the phone. Calls are clear without any echo. I was able to push the phonebook from the phone, one entry at a time. Most problems seem to be with Motorola phones.
  8. I suggest you mount the GPS on your dash. I have it that way in two cars and it works fine. I haven't tried that with XM but suspect it will not work. There are 12 or more GPS satellites so I think the antenna always has a good line of sight from the dash.
  9. What the heck, I'll post yet another code: pr671-44vjg-84207
  10. I sent Crutchfield an e-mail after I read this thread and told them I ordered my D3 on February 16th. They said I qualify for the camera and placed it on backorder. Pretty cool. Thanks for the heads up!
  11. I used the OEM sleeve in my Saab 9-5 and cut some of the sheet metal away at the back side so the cables wouldn't be interfered with.
  12. Whitesmoke, I picked up a D2 cage on eBay while preparing for my D3 install but it turned out I didn't need it. I don't have the trim piece but I can send you the cage cheap. Send me an e-mail for pricing.
  13. Well, with the exception of the amplifier thump I'm really happy with my D3 intallation. I have one final hurdle to overcome. I cannot seem to get the D3 to autoconnect to my Motorola Rokr E1 phone. I have the BTB 100 and have successfully registered the phone, transferred my phonebook (one at a tme) but cannot get the phone automatically recognized. Yes, I have "yes" selected for autoconnect. Any help would be appreciated. I am starting to thing this is a motorola issue that cannot be overcome. BTW, don't tell me to buy a Parrot.
  14. As I mentioned in another thread I have installed the D-3 in my 2002 Saab 9-5 Aero with Harmon Kardon Prestige sound. This means there is I am using the factory installed amp. The amp has a balanced line input like high end home or studio audio. I get a loud thump when the D3 turns on and, seemingly, louder thump when it turns off. Yesterday I experimented with a variety of resistors in the amp turn on lead. With resistors greater than 100 ohms the amp won't trigger and with less than 100 ohms it triggers but I still have the thump. Any ideas?
  15. Thanks, guys. I guess you don't hook up the accessory line on the XM if you have the IP Bus but do hook up power to both. The D3 manual sure doesn't show the power cables but that explains everything. As far has the thump, I have the factory amp. It is Harmon Kardon Premier audio (The OEM headunit was Model AS3). Thanks, again.
  16. I just completed installation of my D3. The radio, nav and iPod seem to work fine but the GEX-P10XMT and the BTB 100 do not work at all. Trying to activate them from the touchscreen has no effect. I have pushed the reset button on both. I haven't yet pulled the D3 out of the dash to see if a cable became disconnected when I pushed it in but I have checked the cables on the 10XMT and BTB100 and they seem to be in order. I am assuming these units get power from the IP bus as shown in the D3 install manual so have not powered these directly. Also, even though the D3 install manual say
  17. XP800, did you buy it? If so, after you install, please advise if it worked. Strange the guy only sold one on eBay and has not relisted or offered more than one.

    Saab 9-5 install

Thanks, Grex. I got my D3 today and hope to put it in this weekend, weather permitting. Did you cut the RCA plugs off of the audio out on your D2 harness and connect the leads to pins 9-16 on the Saab harness? I am hoping I don't have to deal with the popping. I've done some digging and apparently sometimes it is an issue, sometimes not. I think ground loop isolation transformers (most readlily available from Radio Shack) in the audio output lines might help. Thanks, again.
  19. Here is what Pioneer customer service told me about the difference between the BTB100 and 200: "No additional bluetooth functions. However, I am told the BTB200 uses a differently chipset, with higher security. This means it more compatible with newer bluetooth phones. "
  20. Juice, I certainly understand that. If you want to deal with a little hassle you can buy two accessories, resell them at your cost making someone else a good deal and still save $150 on the D3.
  21. An earlier post said the Crutchfield 15% discount code 3A185 works til Feb 28th. I ordered with it on the day it was originally supposed to expire and got the discount. Bottom line is there is probably still another day left on the discount program. It's worth a shot.

    Saab 9-5 install

Grex, I decided to go with a D3 and ordered it from Crutchfield today. I am not sure when it will really be available. Do you recall if the connector to the amp was a DIN plug and, if so, how may pin? Did the kit you got from genuinesaab have a wiring diagram for the plug to the amp? If so, could you send me the pinouts? Did you ever solve the popping sound problem?
  23. I ordered the D3, the XM Nav and the BT100 bluetooth adpater from Crutchfield today with the 15% discount (which I believe just expired). The rep told me they took it off of the website because they did not have a firm ship date from Pioneer. Pioneer's website now says Spring 2007. I don't know if it has said that all along or not. I inquired about the BT200 but the rep did not know anything about that. The Pioneer website shows the BT200 on the specifications tab http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v ... sComponent and the BT100 on the accessories tab http://www.pionee

    Saab 9-5 install

Thanks, Grex. Did you need the sleeve that came with the kit from genuine saab or just the harness? It's not clear to me if the sleeve that comes with the AVIC fits inside the genuinesaab sleeve or if it is used in lieu of it. I got their kit when I put a Harman Kardon Trafficpro in my 9-3. I was aware of the PAC steering wheel kit. Is it pretty much plug and play?
