  1. Check here my friend: http://avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751. Read and read, there are some 50 pages of info, bad and good .
  2. Hi Rostol, It would be very surprise to me if Pioneer has left a JTAG connector on their production PCB, so I would say almost for sure, that if you want to go that way, it would require to install a JTAG connector by soldering around the ARM processor, which will be a rather delicate task to accomplish. I don't know exactly what was wrong with your AVIC but it should be other ways to revive your HU. There are other posts in the Problems/Troubleshoot sections. Search in this forum for "Revive a BRICKED F90" and "FormatMBR -SDMLC" to see if any of those methods can suite your situatio
  3. Hi there, Sorry if this has been asked and answered before, I searched the forum but can't find anything to answer my question. Probably quite simple for you experts: In the X-Series AVIC: where is the WINCEIMG.BIN and WINCEIMG.CKS after entering the Testmode? I enabled displaying of both hidden and system files, but nothing, not inside "My Flash Disk" folder, nor outside. I want to do a REAL COMPLETE backup. Thanks.
  4. Hey EEGeek, You surprise me on your offering to help complete strangers. Sincerely thank you from my heart . I live in Canada though . Appreciate your detailed explanation on the file/folder structure, I already backup everything from the "My Flash Disk" with System and Hidden files showing turned ON. My only concern is the WINCEIMG.BIN and .CKS files. Just FYI: with the F or X Series, the customized settings are not resetted upon system restart, because they are back-powered by the car's battery when the system is turned "OFF", unlike the F500 Series. They are however re
  5. Hi EEGeek, I do have System and Hidden file enabled but still nothing. Any hint would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
  6. Yeah, from what I know, after upgrading to FW 3.0x, a F-Series AVIC will be become a X-Series AVIC, so their firmware should be the same. I just don't want to miss something when performing a complete backup, I mean COMPLETE. Is there anyone who has knowledge on this, or refer me to another post for complete backup? Thanks.
  7. I am using an AVIC-X710BT, where exactly is located the WINCEIMG.BIN and .CKS files? I don't have it inside "My Flash Disk" folder. Thanks.
  8. I see that you have solved the broken link problem, just for others to have access to the TRE.exe utility under \TestMode\Utils folder ... See here: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=31838&p=214868&hilit=asian+font#p214868
  9. Abb, not sure I understand what you are saying ... Note that even when not in the navigation mode before shutting down the car, I still experimented the same problem. The example that I was giving is only to prove that the GPS signal is functioning correctly, while in the other hand, the map screen is not updating (before hitting the MAP key). This is surely a bug somewhere.
  10. Not sure whether this is coming from IDT's original mod or Abb's change or nav nag message killer ... It has happened many times already (quite often), after directly booting to the map screen (with the nav nag message bypass), the last known location was shown, then no more screen update even when the GPS is receiving its signal correctly (I know this because sometime, if a planned has been suspended, the voice prompts for turns continues with a frozen screen). No need to wait because it will never resume updating (voice prompts OK). I have to press the physical MAP button to resume
  11. Hey EEGeek, I don't see WINCEIMG.BIN and WINCEIMG.CLK inside the "My Flash Disk" folder, nor outside (checked today), can you point me to them please? Do I have to enable viewing System and Hidden files somehow? From a downloaded copy of the AVIC Firmware 3.0 Update, I do see them at the same level as the "My Flash Disk", but not inside. Can you shed some light? Anybody can tell me how to do a COMPLETE backup of the AVIC, beside the "My Flash Disk" folder Thanks.
  12. To compliment this, is there a way to also change an existing registry key value automatically? Thanks.
  13. Sharing my two cents ... for your Honda lovers and owners, just add your welcoming message on the bottom of the screen ...
  14. For your Honda lovers, I am sharing my splash screen ...just add your favorite welcoming on the bottom.
  15. Personally, I would love the existing layout. It is true what you say, but most of the time, we don't use NAV for everyday's routes, so we don't look at the map for street name, I would rather see the current AV mode and song name. If during NAV, I wouldn't mind to press the AV button to hide the AV mode.
  16. Thanks Laz for your continue support! I have a Honda Pilot 2005, so I don't know whether it will make a good ground in the rear hayon style of door. There are two contact points from the door hinges, and when closed (obviously), there is one additional contact with the rest of the car via the lock point. You know what I mean? One way to making sure is to use a multimeter, extend the wires and probe between the front and the rear door. Is this enough?
  17. In this case, you will better off NOT to include them. If you want to share, just post them separately so interested people will make their own setup, so you don't have to support them. Instructions are already presented somewhere in this forum, but instead of searching, people are asking ... Releasing the update anytime soon?
  18. Abb, very nice. Is your night scheme and others be part of the release?
  19. Hmmm, personally I prefer the old one, without the border gives me a sense of freeness, if I could say. I never see the bluetooth logo; is this new? Hey Abb, after all those days using the Mod, while the Time display is beautifully seated, I really like to bring back the standard Current Speed box (white) in the non-navigation screen, and put it just on top of the Elevation box (or under it), instead of the text display vis-a-vis the Time display. What do you think?
  20. Good for you. I checked and it works fine for "m" ... guess Abb forgot a space before the "ft" or something . 21. You know what NissanFrontier, I didn't observe that behavior because we're located North of the Border, so we are using metric system. Instead of having "ft", we simply have "m". But I will check when the info screen the distance is over 1000 m (under 2 KM the AVIC shows "m"). Will post ...
  22. Well, frankly I didn't observe this issue. I just remember your post so I brought that to Abb's attention. As far as this Nav Mod is concerned, the only new font that Abb has introduced is the BULL3D... something, which is solely used for the current speed display. FYI, for other Nav Mods, no, you don't have to delete the old fonts to use the new ones, the old ones will just seat there useless. Note however that the font in the the screen shots provided by Abb is not the same as what we have in our units, because he changed the default font for the display of street names, time e
  23. Thanks in advance for your works. Can you guys tell me whether there will be an option for the Off-Road Sensitivity? As I fed up with the iGo8 standard setting for it, where the vehicule is either stuck in the road when you're 200 meters off (shopping centre or in the field), or take the incorrect road when there are many (in this latter case, you can see the simulated vehicule exhaust is really off with regard to the car image, but the vehicule is still no switching road). Or is there anything that I can do to fix this problem? Thanks.
