  1. Have you tried on the steering wheel column? Also I found directly in front of me on the visor a good spot as well.
  2. tons of information out there so I would read more... basically their are not a lot of streets which are labeled on the map unless you zoom in a lot. routing is sometimes hit or miss I would say its not terribly accurate, normally my car is about 3-4 car lengths ahead of where it shows on the map Summary but this unit if your more interested in the interface, but if gps is your main selling point kenwood probably better
  3. its as simple as this, YOU should not be getting those error messages if everything was done correctly. So either you have a faulty unit or it was installed incorrectly, THATS IT. Yes the gps is not a strong point of these units, but thats all been well documented and knowing that I still bought one, and do not regret it. To me the bluetooth is more of an annoyance than the gps... however i've now gotten a chance to experience some different kenwood models and like everyone else their are pros and cons. I bought this unit for the interface and the fact pioneer lets out yearly upgrades.
  4. lol sorry man but you figured it was legit because the people selling on ebay told you so...
  5. really look forward to seeing your guy's experience with this mic. I almost picked one up last year when i got my unit but heard several conflicting opinions. Currently I'm using the garmin mic which was certainly an improvement over the pioneer but still not usable for calls...
  6. Very strange I tried a friends iPod and it worked... I then tried my iPhone and it seemed to work fine. Kinda bizarre, I did not change anything on the unit or my iPhone hmm
  7. Bt does connect and work. I will try to do a full restore now and see what happens
  8. This suddenly happened because for the months i've had it the unit has worked flawlessly. However now whenever I connect my iphone its goes to "ipod" and its all blank... I can search artist etc. but it will not play any songs or show any artwork. I can go into musicsphere and see everything but once again you can click songs but it will not play. Only way i've gotten music to come out of it was to start the song disconnected from the unit on the iphone and than plug my iphone back in. My iphone is uptodate and i've even re sync it but still nothing. Anyone have a clue? maybe a setting got
  9. they are identical, the difference is software only
  10. Ok from doing further research it seems many people have experienced the same issue from a number of different Mics. Seems that 2 options are maybe worth delving into... One would be purchasing another mic that has noise cancellation which not many have so it could be worth buying a headset one and just removing everything but the mic. Option two would be to buy a 2.5mm jack to 3.5mm jack adapter. This would open up a ton of different Mics for use. Most of the forums that I've read about people doing this are about the garmin nuvi models so no clue how it would work with the pioneer unit. Tho
  11. Been looking around and their are numerous 2.5mm car mics out there to purchase. Anyone think perhaps some of these might do the trick?
  12. Interesting... I currently have the mic placed in the upper left corner near the windshield. I have a dodge magnum rt. I've placed some foam over the mic and it certainly made a difference though not perfect by any means yet. Friend recommended using a little plastic and cover the mic so I will try that tomorrow as well as moving the mic even more
  13. Ok i went with the garmin mic because when i installed the other pioneer one people said I was very difficult to hear. Now at a standstill people can't tell if i'm talking through the car or the iphone. however as soon as I start moving people are complaining that I have become hard to hear and they can pick up all the road noise. Has anyone else experienced this issue or know of a fix? I have tried moving the mic around a bit and that doesn't seem to make a significant difference.
  14. I thought I'd seen a video where someone seemed to be streaming youtube to the head unit? Is there anyway to do this even with the wire connected?
  15. dude only some buildings are able to be displayed... i hope you live in a major area otherwise they will be hard to find
