  1. Apparently you didn't read the No-Nag instructions. Note: Install the 2017 map update before installing this hack. Do not change the file on the 2017 installation SD. If you do, the installation will fail. You will get the dreaded "Wrong SD" error. So I edited it with it bold red letters. Rebuild your installation SD from the zipped archive.
  2. I've had good luck with 4 GB SDs formatted FAT32 with default cluster size. I think most updates from Pioneer/HERE are either 4 or 8 GB. Although the applications can read bigger capacities, I think the boot and loader software is only smart enough to handle a limited subset of disks. Glad you persisted and made it work.
  3. Are you sure you have a X940? What does it say on the bezel? The set of files posted were for Z130/Z140/X930/X940. I posted a separate Cardinfo for the Z110/Z120/X920. I hope you didn't d/l that and over-write the good one. No matter, you just made more work for yourself. What did you expect? Did you enter a password? Did you even install the hack or read the thread?
  4. I just looked at the Z110, Z120, X920 2017 update document and it doesn't mention anything about installing those Lightning patches. So it is possible that they are only required for the Z140 (one time only). I remember that the year that the Z140 came out, Pioneer wasn't ready for Lightning support, and they rushed the v4.6 patch out to add support for the original Z140 software (v4.0). But the next maps were already out so they released a second patch (v5.1) for those who already updated to v5.0. What I don't know for sure is if the next annual map update for Z1110/Z120 had that patch buil
  5. The shortfuse hack only needs to be installed once. If you start the map update and it accepts the Pioneer password, you are done with the hack. That's all it does. It has no direct relation to the map update failing. Your problem is already addressed in the 2017 F series update thread. Your map update SD probably has missing files because you didn't enter the zip password (from godzilla) using single quotes.
  6. There is a section addressing this in the installation manual. See post #15 for the links. I encourage you to read it and the Bluetooth instructions. My iPod is too old so I haven't followed this issue closely, However I recall that the Lightning patches (either 4.6 or 5.1) need to be installed before upgrading to 6 or 7. Some system files get modified that are not part of the map update release. So you are wise to take care of it first. I'll let someone who actually knows this stuff take it from there.
  7. Is it possible your SD has the write lock set (the slide switch on the side)? The error verbiage sounds like the error happens trying to remove a file, and the only file that gets removed in the script is the SD TestMode.KEY file (to prevent accidentally running the script twice).
  8. So, you found your mistake. I've tried to make the instructions as clear as possible, so if you've found something unclear, please enlighten us. That's part of the purpose of this community.
  9. First, the script does not say to insert the upgrade SD. It says you can install the update. Those are two separate things. The hack just prepares your unit to bypass the Pioneer registration/password checking. Second, if it does nothing, then you have the wrong cardinfo.cif file or your update files are not in the correct directories. What model is your unit? I'm moving your post to 2017 US/Can maps thread.
  10. I wrote a simple script that will delete the security PASSWORD for most Win CE based F, Z, and X series units. I can't say whether it will work with the very old units, and it won't work with the model numbers ending in 50 or greater, or Nex units. If your model isn't included, look elsewhere (don't post here) -there's probably already a thread in the proper sub-forum for your unit. No need to install Condi's Hackmode or learn the complexities of TestMode. It removes the password entirely - unlocking the unit. It also saves the existing PASSWORD.DAT file (on the SD) before removing it. S
  11. I created a thread in the Z series that presents an automated script to remove the security password on many WinCE based units. It should work fine for the X series - X910, X920, X930, X940. I don't know if it will work for the X900 or the X700 units. No need to install Condi's Hackmode or learn the complexities of TestMode. It removes the password entirely - unlocking the unit. It also saves the existing PASSWORD.DAT file (on the SD) before removing it. Security Password Removal Script I'm closing this thread so all comments should be posted in the original thread.
  12. You don't need a different RenewallFlib.dll. If you got that far, the ShortFuse hack succeeded. These "Wrong SD" errors are caused because something is wrong with your map installation files. I can think of two likely causes. The zip password incorrectly entered when extracting godzilla's files. . If you don't surround it with single quotes (') some of the files will not be extracted and will be missing. IDK why he planted that bomb in there, but it just shows people aren't very good at following detailed instructions. Some people replaced or modified RenewallFlib.dll on the installati
  13. Well I don't know what to make of it. Looks like you're stuck with whatever version you currently have. You could try manually replacing the files as outlined in post #1.
  14. Thanks, but I wish it was linux. This script language is not well documented. It seems like a subset of Windows script language. Many fancier things I tried didn't work as expected. So I tried to keep it as simple as possible.
  15. It sounds like the hack didn't install. When you ran it, the first thing it should do is present the message PRESS ANY KEY TO START OR TURN OFF IGNITION TO ABORT. What is supposed to happen is you should press one of the hardware buttons like Vol - or +, or <. >. If you turn off the ignition then it won't install the hack. At that time, you can't re-run the hack script without rebuilding the SD from the zipped files. TestMode.key is deleted from the SD to prevent accidentally rerunning. So, it isn't clear to me if you ever got past the above message. If you decide re-try the script, I
  16. I don't understand why you are adverse to cycling the power. Nothing bad will happen even with the ShortFuse script SD inserted. However the screen will open if you press and hold the eject button for about 5 seconds. Then you can remove the ShortFuse SD. Then turn the ignition off. You can continue to use your unit as usual. When you are ready to do the update, insert the map update SD.
  17. A simple way to permanently delete your unit's security password. No Condi Hackmode or TestMode commands needed. I wrote a simple script that will delete the security PASSWORD for most Win CE based F, Z, and X series units. I can't say whether it will work with the very old units, and it won't work with the model numbers ending in 50 or greater, or Nex units. If your model isn't included, there is an alternate method that works with some NEX and AVH models. Service Password Method Format a smallish SD (32 GB or less) Must be FAT32 format. Download and Unzip th
  18. Yes, that's what it does. BTW, it doesn't say to "insert the sd wiith the map update". It says "Now eject your SD and install your map update." That just means to proceed with the normal map installation update procedure. Restart your unit manually with the map update inserted. I updated the script to make it more obvious. If it still doesn't do anything when you insert the map SD, you need a different CardInfo.cif .
  19. At least one person was successful installing godzilla's version on a F20bt by editing the CardInfo.CIF file. He posted the file. I think you could also use the CardInfo from a previous version that worked for your unit. IIRC, the 2015 maps had CardInfo files posted.
  20. There is no magic pill - cure-all for this issue. It likely is an installation issue which will vary for each vehicle. Is your antenna in the windshield? Is the antenna amp power wire connected? Is your antenna grounded? I'm no expert on this stuff but those are the most likely issues beyond what I posted above. While it could be a problem with your head unit, you need to eliminate everything else first. If you can't figure it out, take it to a car electronics specialty shop.
  21. You're answering a ~ 2yr old post. BTW, I doubt that would do much if it crashed during F/W update.
  22. I know nothing about the D series. But for someone familiar with D series, it might help diagnose possible problems if you stated if this is a new install. Also, if it ever worked for you with audio CDs.
  23. It makes perfect sense. The original problem is - your AVIC is asking for a password. Someone stupidly wrote detailed instructions on how to remedy that problem but that dangerously instructs you to install HackMode. The rest of the instructions were detailed and safe. Blake's comment on post #151 shows the safe way to do it while avoiding installing HackMode. So it might save you from getting knee-deep in shit. If it doesn't make sense to you - you're already in over your head.
  24. Notice to all. In the next day or two I will be evacuating due to hurricane Irma. It is forecast to be near me on Sunday. I live on an island in the Gulf of Mexico about a mile off the Florida coast. So I can't wait for the last minute. I need to get to higher ground. So don't count on getting much help from me.
  25. Just read post #15, and do that. You don't need to worry about your old one. But DO NOT bother trying to re-install 2015. If you want to, you can copy that RenewallFlib.dll
