  1. excellent news...why am I having difficulty finding threads? what would be a good search phrase...
  2. any updates on those theories? do you know anyone who has successfully taken a 920 up to a 940?
  3. sorry, did you update a 920, or a 930? what's the version number...3xxx? Did this include maps, or just firmware-blutooth?
  4. If the makers of Android phones would get half-a-brain between them, develop a standard interface that includes docks, cables, chargers, etc, that third-party devices like Pioneer and Kenwood could use, then Apple would have a fight on their hands. Why Google, Samsung, HTC etc are too stupid to realize this is completely beyond me. Can anyone explain why they have all missed the boat on this?
  5. and that includes videos such as movies, music videos, etc.?
  6. just to clarify... do ALL Apple iPods (ok, the last three generations) output some kind of video to the X920 headunit via the 30 pin Pioneer cable? Surprisingly, I haven't tried this...
  7. I already have 2.003 installed... how does that change the install process? thanks
  8. hi there - I have the same situation, aka 2.003 has been installed for some time now. What are the steps, in order, if that is the situation? thanks
  9. My 920 is barely 14 months old. The VR never really worked - Google 411 is toast, the maps are inaccurate, and Microsoft support is six weeks from vanishing (lucky I didn't pay money for the antenna) Where is Pioneer with regards to updating and fixing software issues on a software-driven device? Even Apple updates the OS a few times before redesigning their laptops. I saw a 930, big yawn there. A volume knob. ooooo. At least give us 920 owners the 930 software (if it fixes some of the software blunders). Seriously Pioneer reps - and you know who you are - do you EVER talk to
  10. I listen to podcasts quite often on my iPod Classic. Whenever I turn off the car, and then restart it, my 920 always plays the first SONG on my ipod, alphabetically speaking, and NOT the podcast that I was listening to when I shut down the X920. Is there a way to set things so that the podcast I was listening to (iPod Classic) resumes when the car is restarted? I could find no clues in the manual that would be fun
  11. AVS Video Convertor or Handbrake both work well
  12. sign up for their email pushes - that's how I got mine for $390 - 30% discount, $100 rebate, and then they had a "golden special", which is a 2-hour discount window that took off another 20%. If it wasn't for my email link to Amazon, I never would have known about that last special.
  13. thanks, i ran down to my local pros, who had a light tester for such a task, and we found the correct cable - all is peachy
  14. As this may be beyond my electrical knowledge, do you know which of the two methods switches to what exactly. Method one being the grn/blk wires in the cluster beneath the passenger compartment, and method two being a connection to the reverse light at the back of the car. I do know that if you have the wrong one selected in the menu, and you connect to the opposite, the Pioneer locks you out of anything BUT the rear camera
  15. And the sales have begun again at Amazon . . . get em while they're hot. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/ref=pe_59010_19309890_pe_t7/B00332FKL6
  16. did you ever decide what the difference in polarity was? which did you set it to - battery or GND, essentially, is the polarity positive or negative while in reverse, and how would we know anyway?
  17. so i am underway with this install finally . . . ground is easy, as is finding switched 12v. The mystery is the rear-view wire. I was hoping to use the one in the passenger side harness (grn/blk), but that didn't seem to go well - aka, when I went into reverse, nothing happened. also, the brown input kinda took over the x920, and that's ALL I could look at on the screen. Obviously, something has gone wrong. Given these clues, would you bet on a bad camera or a bad connection. Secondly, there is a confusing selection in the camera screen for "polarity". Any thoughts on which is the correc
  18. OK, that's a good resolution for this screen size. That way I don't have to muck with the normal or full setting - just leave it in normal. bitrate of 768 with audio conversions at 160 and I've been able to play every video converted to xvid.avi without a hitch - feature length films, videos, whatever. All from a tiny, 8 gig Micro SD. Nice.
  19. thanks - I'll give that a whirl
  20. when encoding, re-encoding, converting etc, from whatever format to xvid for the Pioneer's SD card slot, what do people find is the best resolution to use? There are many combinations. Should it always be a 1:88 ratio if you're going to leave the screen in "normal" mode all the time (preferred - why keep switching back and forth). I'd like to find the right combination between resolution, FPS and bitrate so when I do a conversion, I'll be able to count on it filling the screen without squishing the screen or letterboxing. Of course, I understand some fiddling would be needed depending o
  21. If auto-eq is part of the new architecture, how difficult would it be for them to add auto-sound-level? That's the only thing I miss from my stock Mazda 3 radio. Hell, on the Mazda the mic is already built in, if there was only a way for after-markets to access it.
  22. What's worse is they just dropped doing any updates to keep making it better. I always thought that was the whole advantage to a software-based interface - updates. Try this - wait until the screen confirms that your iPod library has been created before selecting ANY music. Then, go to 'artists', pick one, pick an album, pick a song, and THEN press the 'album art' on the right. When I did this, it seemed that the arrow appeared and I could go BACK to the song list. Maybe it has something to do with the library being created before ANY button presses.

A kid, around thirty years old, was fixing a hole in my roof last week. He has already seen five tours of duty in Iraq, and one in Afghanastan, and is now de-militarized. To quote him fairly accurately: "The only reason we're over there is for the oil, and they hate us for it. I drive a Neon. It gets 40mpg" As others like him die needlessly so we can drive gas-guzzling, over-sized trucks, SUV's etc, I don't mind fiddling with this thing in the hopes that it might save me 15% in fuel usage. As big, oil company profits hit record highs, and Dick Cheney's Haliburton stock rises
