    I hate my Z2!

That's either some cheap ass solder or a horrible solder job then. I have never ever seen a proper solder joint "disintegrate" I was thinking that same thing. I work in electronic repair (been doing this shit for almost 10 years..... how depressing) and Ive never seen a solder joint disintegrate. Ive seen joints go "cold" and have to be reheated and ive seen joints get eatin up by excessive flux left on the joint, but Ive never seen one disintegrate. Did he get that solder out of a bubble gum machine in front of walmart or something?
  3. I can do it. Although I think Omaha is a bit further than 200 miles.
  4. Well siiiiiince this thread changed to the 360 and that peice of junk refered to as the "intercooler" I'll chime in. DO NOT BUY thate pile of crap. The NYKO intercooler that attaches to the rear of the 360 is NOT reliable and (just as Til said) has been known to cause fires and catastrophic failures with the 360. I myself had one of the NYKOs' and I experieced 2 of the 3 red rings of death from it. I did some research on them and found out that MANY people had problems with them as well. I removed mine and havent had an issue since. Right now, there are only 2 brands that seem to wor
  5. please just take a look in the hacks/mods section...
  6. Have you tried doing the two wire bypass?
  7. Ive read of this before, I believe someone else had to reassign the output to the camera and then it worked again. If memory serves, the low level reset causes the z2 to no longer have the camera assigned to that output. Should be in your settings somewhere. Pretty sure thats how it went. I think that post is somewhere in this thread too.
  8. Nero is cd burning software. If you use the start smart menu, there is an icon that says burn ISO and some other file format. Thats the one you want to use.
  9. VERY good point, make sure its metal to metal to metal. And that is body metal, not a bracket thats connected to metal. Yes the bracket may work, but its not an optimal ground. I had a couple really convenient places picked out for my ground, but had to ditch them because they ended up being brackets connected to body. Eventually found a bolt that bolted directly to the body metal. And Ive had ZERO problems with this bypass. It works people, just do a good job, dont rush. Find an appropriate ground and make sure your wires are connected perfectly. If you do that, it will work.
  10. Done http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... 0145992669 DAMN RIGHT! Damn the man!!!! Get em Hyper, "hack the planet!"... .lol.
  11. I'll have to check the wiring tomorrow. I didn't do the wiring myself, it was done by an installer that has done several of the Z1 units. I can't say how it was done or if it was done correctly or securely. I did get the message that the unit was updated and it did a restart. I also finished with the system resent button and checked the hardware to see that it did show the parking brake set while driving. Like I said before, it worked great for the first 31 miles, so maybe it's just the wiring now and all will be good again once this is corrected. I'll post an update as soon as that
  12. You sound just like the guy above you. Did you do the two wire bypass as well? The software itself will NOT bypass the unit. You HAVE to have the two wire bypass done in conjunction with the software. Np. Heres DB's page with the instructions for the two wire bypass: http://www.sminntech.com/z1flash.html#newbypass Also, just to kinda steer you in the right direction, you want to ground the LIGHT GREEN wire. Its really light, kind of a Hospital Green color.

  14. Ok, you said you did the update and you reset your unit. First, is your unit a z2? Second, did you do the two wire bypass as well? If you did the two wire bypass yourself, did you make 100% sure that the wire you moved AND the connector were BOTH seated firmly and securely? That would be where I would look. The ONLY reason this bypass shouldnt work is if the ground is not applied. The software itself, if burned correctly, works perfectly.
  15. I seriously doubt it. If you have to send your unit in for repairs, you're just sending the unit, not the wiring. As long as you were the one removing it, not a stereo shop, no one would know the difference.
  16. Theres a really easy way to avoid breaking anything on your connector at all.... that is to steal the wire from a different wire bundle. Not sure about everyone elses z2, but mine came with 2 connectors. The one im using and another one. I stole the mute wire from the one that is not connected to my z2 and installed it into the one that is currently connected, then I spliced into the light green wire using the splice that pioneer gives you, and grounded just the light green wire.
  17. The mute wire is yellow with a black stripe.
  18. You have to add one AND you have to ground an existing one. The one you need to ground is in the power supply bundle and it is a very light green color.
  19. Your method of burning may be whats wrong here. What program did you use to burn the file? Also, did you have the ebrake engaged? Or, do you already have the two wire bypass done? If you have a z2, which you said you do, then you DO NOT need to unlock the drive. Also, if the software was burned correctly, you dont actually have to press any buttons when you install the disk. Mine read the disk, then started the whole process on its own, I only had to press the yes button a couple times.
  20. UPDATE: Well, after successfully installing the software, I decided..... "eh, what the heck, lets see if I can do the wiring and stuff on my own." Now, mind you, the wiring isnt something that I was afraid of. I do that stuff every day at work. It was the thought of ripping into my pretty new 07 Camry SE that had my dingaling shriveling like it had just met a glass of ice water. But I threw caution into the wind, found the service manual for my vehicle (thank you TN.com), hit up DB's site, and viola, presto chango, abracadabra.... it worked. I was able to search, watch movies, and al
