  1. No, you can unlock both, and you may want to do so depending on your intentions. Many people unlock their drives mainly to increase the music partition. Others do so so that they can copy their drive image and then upgrade the drive to a larger/faster one, and again, increase the music partition and do whatever else they want to do to it. Just depends on what you want to do.
  2. Yeah, mines been doing weird stuff too lately. Ever since I got it transplanted from my camry to my xb its occasionally not booted up correctly. It will sit with a black screen, and i can just hear the radio station I had it on prior to turning off my car. Then I'll turn my car off and then back on, and it will be fine again. But, electronics are weird and are almost never perfect, so I just let it go.

  4. Sounds like your unit is doing what its supposed to do.
  5. Anyone done one? What double din kit did you use? Metra? Im curious because I just got one and im having my z2 transplanted from my 07 Camry to my new xB. And Ive heard that there may be issues. Any installers done one?
  6. Sorry, I wont be putting any alcohol based wipes on my z2.
  7. If that is the solution, you would think that would be something a software patch could address as well.
  8. Having had the privelege to experience the "o-so-great" lock up heat freeze (or whatever we ended up calling it) I found something interesting lately with my z2. Now, this may just be misplaced paranoia, but is it just me, or are there times when it seems like the unit almost locks up, but just when it would do so (when comparing it to past lock ups) it doesnt? Does it do this for anyone else? Again, this isnt a lock up or anything, just seems like it wants too.
  9. That right there is why moderators are created, so that the admins dont have to tend to every little thing. I moderate the classifieds section of another board Im a member on and we have clasifieds for car audio, vehicles, and misc items. We have a total of 3 mods just for those sections; meaning all 3 of us do all 3 sections. Its the only way to keep them, not only spam and idiot free, but to keep order in the posting so you know whats being sold and whats being asked for. I think the new requirement you made was a good idea though. I wish they would do that on the board I mod on. Gets a
  10. Yup, ive bought lots of stuff from Amazon. Everything has always arrived at my home without damage or any other issues. Always on time. I tend to check there for pricing when Im looking for a good deal as well. But yeah, you'll be safe ordering from them.
  11. How could the freezing issues been going on for over a year when the z2 just came out this April?
  12. Pretty easy to reset a car ecu. Just disconnect the battery for a little while, then reconnect. Ecu reset. As for your other problems, good luck.
  13. It appears to be working. Yesterday it was 90 degrees outside. I wasnt using a heatshade at all, and there wasnt a cloud in the sky, it had to be high 90's in my car. My car sat all day in the parking lot (from 8am till about 3pm). Now, normally I would start my car and expect the z2 to just sit there at the loading screen, but still be able to hear my radio station. However, that did not happen. Instead, the unit started up just fine, loaded and all that like it was supposed to and I went about my way. Nav came up fine, not choppiness, nothing. I didnt try to play any of the music I have
  14. Im hoping its not the later... Thats not only a bandaid, but its more like putting a cast on your arm to help with a bloody nose.
  15. did you check the system info screen and make sure the correct versions are shown?
  16. Consider your praises sung....... for now. I have installed the firmware update, bypass still works, and I havent had a freeze at all. HOWEVER..... it is also about 20 degrees colder here than it was when my unit was freezing. So, we'll see. But, you were right, pioneer has graced us with a supposed fix.
  17. However, on the flip side of that, my unit froze on me on a very cool day as well. AFTER having sat in my closed garage all night.
  18. Hell, I'm hoping your right............its a good unit outside of this f-up.. I'll agree with that. When it works, it works well.
  19. Well shit, you gotta figure they're losing lots of money repairing this shit too. I mean, i bet if we really gathered the number efficiently, I would say at least 1 in 3 units does this shit.
  20. Another one..... well, like I said in the other thread, I'll believe it when I see it. And then i'll sing your praises!
  21. Ah, thank you, you're the man! So i guess it is a universal toyota kit, thanks. Hmm.... that makes me wonder.... could the kit that im already using be the same kit? I wouldnt know, as I didnt install it myself. Maybe that p/n will be on my invoice from that install day, I'll have to check that.
  22. Ive been trying to find out if there is a metra kit made for these and I havent come up with anything concrete. I see on their site that they have a general install kit and looks like a wiring harness, but they dont say they are specifically for the xb. The reason im asking is because im thinking of getting one and id like to pull my z2 from my current car (07 camry se) and put it in the xb. So, pro installers, whatcha know?
  23. Ok, a little less vague, thats a bit better. But, who are you and why should we listen? Do you work for pioneer? You have to excuse my mistrust, but if we listened to every person that came on here with all these claims of "oh theres a fix coming" or "I have the bypass for the z2!" then we'd all have z2s with cut up NAV antenna cables and ground switches. So, again, who are you and why do you know what you know? Or better yet, how do you know what you know?
  24. I was stationed at Langley as well. That day was hectic where I worked too.
