I believe that's just a ground-plane for the magnet inside the antenna to attach to... you might be able to (don't quote me on this BUT...) use velcro to secure the antenna

Sorry, thats the way it is... separate antennas for all Lots of people have had good reports actually connecting the antenna's INSIDE the dash (on a metallic cross member) If you've had good expeience in a previous installation, mounting the "new" antenna in the same place *shoud* give the same results

The Z3 comes with a MIC, the Z1/Z2 doesn't Obviously, getting a Z3 means you get warranty coverage, with an "upgraded" Z1 or Z2 you're only going to get coverage against those specific units and you may actually void any warranties yes, it's likely to be much cheaper to get a Z1/Z2 and upgrade to a Z3 BUT you're ptentially on dodgy ground
