12. i only need to flash the headlights 1 time for the bypass to work and i can flash it anytime during the entire boot up prosess with a 100% sucess rate. should save a little ware and tear on the unit and vehical lights..
  13.
My timing must suck, I still cant get it to work...
when you start the car the lights illuminate on the z1....do nothing. when the z1 sarts its boot sequence it will look something like this 21314efdsfe35453 1321453254554435 134343525545345 thats when you turn on and off the headlights..... next it will display the pioneer logo.... you can still turn on and off your lights during this time. i usualy get 1 on and off during the boot sequence and 2 durning the pioneer logo and i do all my flashes within about 2 seconds total
  14.
Is anyone willing to write up a quick step by step procedure to grounding the e-brake and getting the bypass to work by flickering the lights, to include those with daytime running lights, if the lights should be kept on or off.....or does it really matter? This is the only bypass method I have seen that has worked and I'll be installing my Z1 tomorrow. I'm a newbie at this, so all the help would be great! Thatnks to everyone and their input too!! 8)
just ground the pb wire to the chassie ground, then turn on and off the headlights 3 or more times af
  15.
Mine didn't work with parking break grounded. I had to disconnect the parking break ground in order to make it work. I also found that if you ground the break while you are watching DVD's in motion, everything stops.
you must ground the parking brake, try it again and i bet you make the bypass work.
  16. YES IT WORKS... i took the parking brake and z1 ground wires and cnnected them, then hooked them up with the chassie ground. i used quick connects on everything incase i decide not to keep it. i do have the day time driving lights too, if you flash your high beams it doesnt work. i am dissapointed that my neighborhood wasnt on the map and its 8 years old, wtf pioneer? so far i got to say mt garmin 320 is alot faster and more accurate but im going to give it some more time. also the dvd video quality is worse than the jenson vm9020ts that the z1 replaced.
  17. KBryan, grounding the parking wire only takes a second, please do it asap and let us know your results. thanks
  18.
I installed the Z1 in my 06 Dodge Ram. I do not have the speed pulse wire connected because I guess the new chrysler vehicles don't come with actual wires, i guess everything is computerized, but the location of the car on the map is pretty accurate without it, so i say its works pretty good with just the GPS antenna. I am gonna try the light flickering thing when i get off work, but I actually bypassed it another way, requires a little work, but not tough. Considering your not using a backup camera or having extra tv's in ur car, I ran a really short RCA cable from th
  19.
If you connect the speed pulse wire will it affect this bypass? Is the speed pulse wire necessary?
it says failure to make this connection will increase errors in the location display. now is that true ? i dont know. but personally im thinking of just selling my z1 and getting a unit that will do video and nav at the same time, ie the eclipse. im kind of on the fence to hook up the z1 without being 100% that the headlight flashing will bypass the safety features. and right now its only hearsay on wether this trick actualy works
  20. looks like i will install my z1 after i go golfing today, hopefully i can have it done by 7pm. if this works i will post video of it in action. the only problem i have is with flashing the headlights is i got thoes stupid daytime driving light and i dont think they are able to turn off completely, if anyone knows how to shut them off let me know, its a 2002 toyota sequoia. here is a link to the switch http://www.soundoffaudio.com/item.cfm/id/2084 im sure it can be found cheaper looks like ebay is the place to buy http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?cgiu
  21. does he mean flash the headlights 3 times or the z1 lights 3 times. i might just install my z1 tomarow and try this out.

    z1 pics

no problem, thank you for starting this great web site.. as soon as someone posts reliable info on a bypass i will then install the z1 and start hacking on the hard drive.. although i got a gut feeling that the bypass will have to do with the hard drive softwhare.

    Anyone have a z1 yet?

i have one but its not installed yet " need bypass info before install or selling wothless unit and never buying pioneer again " i also posted some pics of my z1 in the mods section if someone need to see the back or bottom of the unit.
