I am no expert but you don’t have to go to the headlight switch, just find anything that lights up when you turn your headlights on. Your stock stereo must of had one, if not then your HVAC controls. You just need a Voltmeter and switch your headlights on and off and find the wire that changes voltage every time you do it. Your VSS wire will be a little harder. You must have a PCM in your car and your VSS wire will go there... As to finding it I will leave that to one of the pros to come in here and help you out. Good luck.

None. I dont know when, but it has been outlawed to have pretty stuff on the screen of a 2din stereo. It may distract the driver. Thats why they built all these motion lockouts into the systems now.

I say Z1 only if you want the Benefit of having a Hard drive or Bluetooth. IMO the Voice recognition is too slow; sometimes it’s just faster to do it manually. Alternate to the Z1's hard drive is just buying the IPOD adapter for the D2. But the Z1 Nav system is much better plus its HD based and the integrated Bluetooth is great, plus it has a better screen IMO. I say if money is no issue then it’s the Z1 all the way but to save yourself some money you won’t be disappointed with the D2. The install is a piece of cake btw so save some money there.

Yes that is what i do.. .

I dont think there are many Nav issues as long as you hook up the VSS wire. I dont have mine hooked up and i still have no issues.

You should get the Nav Bezel. The Nav bezel will lower you HVAC and the Z1 will fit right in the middle, then get a 2din piece and place it between the Z1 and the Bezel. Or... Wrap you current Bezel with swade or leather. Or were you gonna do something else? I have a Charger and i went though the same thing you did so i know how you feel :D

The VSS wire is just for accuracy when you lose satellites, i.e. tunnels, overhanging trees, big cities, etc. I say if you live in an area where you frequently lose satellites then it would help, but otherwise it’s not necessary. I’ve had the d1for almost a year with no VSS and now going on 2 months with no VSS on the Z1... no problems at all.

But again i cant ell you if anything was changed, or if its just me.
