  1. well i pulled the entire antenna today and found that another section was literally cut... looks like it got pinched in the hatch hinge (oops)... so i just cut two ends soldered the center core, shrink wrapped it, then soldered the shield braid.... works great now
  2. i installed it... the cable looks fine... there just a small bend in the one section where it enters the car... and the manual said to make that lil loop to create a drip leg if u will to avoid rain seepage i doubt CC would have that cable on hand as a spare part (maybe im wrong)... either way i also emailed Pioneer parts about the issue
  3. so ive had my D3 installed for a couple weeks now... and today on my way home i noticed that as i was passing side streets the screen was a bit off... so i checked my hardware info and low and behold it says my GPS isnt connected... so i check the connection and it is in there just fine so i asked a buddy if i could try his cable on my unit when we installed his and bingo it worked... so i have a bad GPS cable... i bought my unit @ circuitcity and have a 2 year plan on it... how would i go about getting a replacement? id hate to have to spend 60 here: http://parts.pioneerelectr
  4. i JUST got my bluetooth from crutchfield today... i hope to install saturday i will try to get my 700p workin

  6. i was just reading a thread that talked about engine/alternator whine and it made slight mention of RCA's that have a grounding wire on one, but it wasnt very clear to me what/where the proper place to ground them was i have monster cables that have this grounding wire and the ground leads all reside on the amp end of my system... would it be ok to ground those wires to the amp grounds or is there a preferred/special way to ground those wires?
  7. try this: EJECT LOCK MODE for DVD mechanism In order to enter "EJECT LOCK" mode, reset start while pressing the "AV" and "INFO" keys together. Pressing the "AV" and "INFO" keys until monitor backlight is turned on. In order to exit "EJECT LOCK" mode, follow the same steps to enter this mode
  8. so far all ive found is: Disc Lock Mode Designed for dealer display boards. This feature allows for the Navigation DVD-ROM to be locked inside to prevent theft
  9. map -> menu -> system -> demo edit: oops... thats for a D3
  10. for home i over rid the location based on where my parking space is at my apartment... it tells me ive arrived as soon as i pull in front of my building

    D3 vs. Z1

nicely sum'd up... that was basically my thoughts in a nutshell -ipod was a must -navigation was an added value -custom LED's and screens was a HUGE selling point (ive swapped all my interior LED's) -video/nav bypass was a must

  13. can u provide a link to a place where i could find the grommets and loom you would use
  14. ok... have u ever done an install on a cougar where u had to run wiring into the doors? id be interested to know how you did the way the electronics are provided to the door is kinda wierd... they have a multi-pin barrel connector on either end with no open way to pass cables, at least i saw ideally id like to run all new wiring so I could upgrade the amp at a later date and be sound as a pound
  15. is there a better way? i mean, i cant forsee soldering those connections... but in all honesty, my 4 speakers are running half mode... i ran out of wire when i amp'd them so unfortunately the fronts are tied together and the rears are tied together (thats 2 pairs for 4 speakers) so im getting a spool of shielded monster cable to run (b/c radio shack stuff sucks balls) and i really wanted to know the proper way to connect the wiring @cntrl: i think im pushing 100-125 or maybe 150... im not sure... u saw the amp im using when i PM'd you so i dont think im breaking that barrier... ide
  16. i dont understand all the conspicuous talk about the D3... its just a screen people... if you are so paranoid about a double din navi system then cover it with a cloth when you park your car... and more so have it placed on your insurance i wouldn't settle for a single DIN b/c i was afraid it would get jacked as my fiance would say... cars are for driving... dont make it so nice that you cant drive it and enjoy it
  17. ill drink to that... the only way to know that an installer did a good job or takes pride is when you get the car back and everything is as if you never gave the car to the installer in the first place when i do installs for friends i go over the fine details, tell them what dash stuff i will be removing, where i might be mounting things and how, ask them if they have any concerns and so on and so forth... ill even ask them to hang out and help if they want (this is to a degree of course.... 2 can be a crowd when doing installs) just do what makes you feel comfortable i for one wou
  18. idk if any of the regular installers here are familiar with the 99+ mercury cougars, but with they way they provide electronics to the door you cant (very easily at all) just run speaker wire into the doors... so, i ran speaker wire from my amp and have it (dare i say) wire-nutted to the metra harness which then continues on through the stock wiring now... if any of you can tell me a better way todo this a) connect the wires to the metra harness -or- run after market wire into the doors to bypass the stock wiring altogether i would be really appreciative thanks
  19. I have an order for one that is back ordered... has anyone spoken with CF on as to when they expect a new shipment to be arriving to send out?
  20. ok very good... i only ask b/c my buddy has a D2... seeing it in his car prompted me to check out the D2 and D3 and he wondered if he could use my DVD's ill relay the information to him
  21. 1) make a jpg -1000x480 px -96 dpi 2) save it as a normal or optimized jpg (do not use progressive) 3) place that jpg in a folder called pictures on your cd-r 4) add a bunch of other pictures that you dont care about (all jpgs) to that folder so you have at least 20 files 5) make sure the total sum of the CD is over 1.8 mb 6) burn on the slowest speed 7) all done!
  22. thanks for the prompt answer any idea if/when there will be an updated map set for the D2?
