  1. Could be because a lot of them were introduced to the business end of a baseball bat...
  2. Well, I knew I was buying the least expensive unit that had a ton of features. I didn't expect it to be perfect, but I've been disappointed constantly by AVIC-D3. Unit resets regularly. Just reboots, often 2 or 3 times in a row. Music keeps playing though... BlueTooth: This is the worst bluetooth I've ever used. A big feature of handsfree in the car is using voice command dialing. That doesn't work with this rig. On any phone I've tried... Let's not even talk about phone books, CID display, or switching between calls. Oh, and don't turn the vehicle off if you are in the middle of a c
  3. I doubt it's a loose power wire. Mine does that too, especially when I'm using the bluetooth module. In fact, it even happens when I use bluetooth to my headset. The audio keeps playing, but looks like the entire UI reboots. I think there's going to be a D3 + IPOD + BTB200 + XM package on ebay soon... Preferably before I put my fist through the screen!
  4. Both my D3 and my GF's D3 get lost, and suddenly think they are in New York, hundreds of miles away from our actual location. Both units have full strength signals when this happens. Using modify location can get you sort of in the ball park, but it's not quite right of course. The net effect is the unit telling you to turn when you are no where near the correct turn... Resetting does NOT help. My diagnosis? It's a POS... This is the last Pioneer unit I will buy. My solution? Keep a Garmin in the glovebox...
  5. My expectation was that the voicedial would work in the same manner as the headset (actually just a one-ear deal that I use). Hit one button, tell the phone what to do. It's efficent and safe in traffic. A handful of presets isn't going to do it for me... I too have the GEX-P920XM.
  6. The most IMPORTANT blue tooth feature IMHO, is the voice dialing. I have tried a Razor V3i and now a Motorola Q 9h Global. Voice dialing does NOT work on either. I feel the bluetooth module was wasted money. BTW, Jetware says it's incompatible with the Q anyway... I am less and less happy with the whole AVIC D3 system all the time. It may wind up on ebay soon... -> Blue tooth usability is horrible. Without voice dial, either you continue to dial with the phone, or the use the screen interface. Either way, the blue tooth headset is a better option.... -> Ipod interface is
  7. The antenna came today. Unfortunately, it has TWO antenna plugs, a green & a yellow. I think that's because some (OEM) XM receivers had separate connectors for sat and terrestial repeater inputs. I've seen splitters to use single output antennas with dual input receivers, but never the other way around... Now I'm not sure that I can use this antenna.... Guess it's gotta go back...
  8. Guess it just depends on your point of view... I couldn't care less about the ring tones. If I still have to fumble around to dial the phone, or look up a number in the contact list, or worse, try to dial a number on the (IMHO) clumsy AVIC telephone interface - then it's a dismal failure. The utility of Voice Dial in a mobile situation is completely lost. Oh sure, it works fine for answering a call, or talking once the call is established - but more often then not, I need to make a call, and while the BTB is active & linked to the phone, voice dialing is not functional. So in my vi
  9. Just to confirm, this same problem exists with BTB200 & Razr V3. If you turn the volume up all the way on the D3, the voice prompts are barely audible, but of course you can't use the system that way... I called Pioneer about this, they said it was a phone problem, then they said they would check with the engineers and call me back. Well, still no phone call and it's been weeks... You think they stood me up?? Actually, I'm very disappointed with the BlueTooth module. I feel it's unusable. It's actually so cumbersome to make a phone call without the Voice dial, that I turn the modul
  10. About $70. I could have found it a little cheaper online, but after shipping it's pretty much a wash...
  11. I ordered the Nissan glass mount antenna, should arrive Friday. I'll let you all know how it works out... BTW, the Nissan part number for the XM version is 999U9-VR000. I think the Sirius version is a different part number...
  12. I didn't say I WAS going to drill, I have no intention of drilling! The point was really that I don't want wires exposed... It's an 07 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab.
  13. It would be really easy to install the thru-glass type, thats why... I'd rather not drill holes in a brand new truck. Running the cable thru the firewall, then trying to snake it up thru the windshield moulding to the roof, or out the high mounted brakelight (possibly causing a leak) both seem like more work than I was wanting to do... Plus I don't like exposed wires - both of those methods would leave some wire exposed. Obviously hanging it out the door frame or one of those tactics is not happening... I would probably drill and mount a roof mounted antenna if that was the only way to
  14. Doesn't seem too bad actually - look at http://www.nissanhelp.com/Ownership/Bulletins/Nissan/2005/NTB05-061.htm
  15. Does anyone here use a glass mount XM antenna? I'm considering one for my 07 Frontier. How well do they work? I see Nissan has one, and also Terk. Terk would be my last choice...
