  1. Depends on the car and the vehicle to aftermarket radio interface. My GTO (which needed no interface) has a "gain" knob on the amp. My Corvette which has an interface has an adjustment knob on the interface.
  2. Which sucks. You get used to it... Perfect example of the tail wagging the dog.
  3. My source pausing doesn't work on either my Z110BT updated to the Z130BT software or on my new Z140BH. I have a iPod Touch, which at some point has been reset in the last 2 years (that's how long the one system has been in the GTO). It never fixed the issue. Hell if my iPod is connected and I start the car on XM or FM it starts playing the iPod in the background. Also my Play Count IS updated. I know this because when I plug into my PC my counts go up and the iPod Touch is ONLY used in the two cars (it exists for that purpose, I use my iPhone as my "regular" iPod). I can test ag
  4. It does. You have to cut the Orange wire off the PAC/Metra and IGNORE IT. Tap into the Black w/ Gray Stripe wire either off the F55 Switch or the T/C Switch in the center console area. The Corvette stock radio gets the illumination signal off the Class 2 Bus, so you need to find a voltage source. The switches provide this source.
  5. That's the Metra kit. It has a small screw on it for volume control. This way the Metra kit "amps" the volume before sending it to the cars amp and speakers. You need to adjust that screw to a lower volume so that the Metra provides less gain to the volume. Then you will get "normal" volume control on the radio.
  6. So after a false start I got the Corvette to work the way I wanted to. I started with a GMOS-100 from Metra, and take it from me for the Corvette it's crap stick with the PAC OS-2C-BOSE. The second problem I ran into was the "nub" the stock radio mounts into. The Z140BH is actually a bit long and would hit the "nub." Removal with a saw was required. This also freed up some room to mount the PAC CM1 Module the Metra ASWC Module and the PAC OS-2C BOSE near the HU. The Camera "module" was mounted above the driver footwell. The XM Module was placed in the rear of the car where the stoc
  7. They probably amped up the volume on whatever kit they used to interface with the car. Both the PAC and Metra kits have volume control.
  8. There is an update to the z130BT. I have it on mine.
  9. All TBSS's are the Class 2 system. Installers who use Metra recommend the GMOS-100 for the newer cars, I don't know why. PAC has the same unit for all Class 2 units up until 2010 (the only Class 2 car in 2011 is the Corvette). The PAC OS-2C-BOSE. See the latest Metra install for the years http://www.metraonli...GMOS-04_web.pdf (notice it says TB thru 2009).
  10. I like both the Z140 and the Z130 interfaces. The biggest difference I've noticed (as I don't use any of the voice controls) is that the FM presets say CH1-CH6 on the Z140 and on my 130 they show the actually number like 88.7 or 93.9. I think this is a function of the HD radio unit that's built in.
  11. Since it's a 2006 TB SS it's probably not the GMOS4. The TBSS is a GM Class 2 Data Bus System, and unlike GM's newer systems (GMLAN/Global A) the vehicles "network" isn't daisy chained. This means if you unhook a module all other modules should still work. So if you unplugged the GMOS4 and the problem still existed it doesn't have to do with the cars computer network. I'd check for a pinched wire in the door or the connector from door to car. It sounds like something isn't getting the required power. BTW your radio is now connected to an "ignition" source which bypasses the RAP (re
  12. There are some channels that are on one and not the other. But with Pioneer I'd go XM and forget about it.
  13. When people say it has no voice commands they are talking about the Navigation as apparently that's what most people use. I never use voice commands so I don't see the issue. I have both a 140 and a 130 (well software wise a 130)
  14. I'll let you know once I get my Z140BH up and running in my Corvette. I have a Z110BT with Z130BT in my GTO so I can compare side by side.
  15. For the newer GMLAN cars PAC supplies those signals. Older Class 2 cars like the Corvette have to find VSS, Reverse, Park Brake, and even Ignition (unless you want to rely on the PAC generated Ignition signal which I do not) themselves. I would have expected the GMOS to work better on the newer cars. The '09 Sierra is a GMLAN 29-bit (the newest type of GMLAN) and therefore the easiest to work with.
  16. I peeled mine off something to remount it on something out during my install. Hope it sticks. If not I'd need a new one anyone have one by chance?
  17. I agree on it now working the way you want. I am doing my install currently and I have decided to return the GMOS-100 and go with the PAC. Now I have to run reverse and park brake wires I think...
  18. VSS is needed for dead rekoning and is used as a plausability check for the GPS.
  19. I've had this same issue ever since I updated to the Z130 Software on my Z110. It's not the phone as far as I can tell. I've checked the volume, and it is paired as an Audio & Handsfree device. Handsfree works fine, Music Audio is a no go.
  20. To check dead rekoning unplug the sat antenna and see if you move. If you do then VSS is working. I know in some GM models the GMOS "makes" the VSS signal by reading the vehicle speed off the CAN communication bus. The VSS is a PWM type signal. Also try to look up the "stock" mounting location of your GPS antenna (even if you didn't have Nav stock) that will give you hints as to where you should mount the antenna.
  21. Something similar happens on the GTO. The right side buttons on the wheel stop working (the left work fine). Switching to the Metra Axxiss ASWC kit fixed that. I think the SWI-PS has that issue in a lot of cars.
  22. What's the Z140BH say about GPS stats (how many sats are you connected to)? Also does dead reconing work (this is when you have no sat and the car uses the VSS to determine forward progress)? My Z110BT in my GTO isn't 100% accurate but it's usually not more than 20-30 feet off.
  23. My classic suffered damage after 1 year of usage in a car. It was still usable but I had to refresh it so it would no longer use the "bad" sectors.
