That's not how it works. At a certain hour it goes to night mode automatically. You don't comtrol it.

Yep. There are Mercedes and bmw drivers that right now are jelly of the radio in my Miata.

They aren't compatible yet. When they are they will get full functionality but right now only spotify is compatible.

I noticed on the firmware update page when carplay came out, there was an extra unit called the AVIC-X8610BS. Based on the specs it reads exactly like the 5000 NEX, and I know the numbering system is different for european machines, but why is that machine on the update list? Confused.

Hello person from two days ago. We were mad too, but we aren't anymore as long as we didn't use USB storage to listen to music. Please update your 4000. It can have carplay now.

Carplay did not disappoint. It's exactly like the videos I saw, it reads directions from my texts, it is just plain awesome! I can't wait for the supported apps to have all their updates so I can control my Beats app in my car! And I hope apple in the future opens the app space up to more developers and allows stuff like waze to run on carplay. This is everything Appradio wishes it could have been.

Well its supposedly coming in summer 2014 in Australia as well which is in December, so that's where this mix up comes from. Even though both Pioneer USA and Pioneer's main headquarters in Japan are countries in the Northern Hemisphere, they are on a Southern Hemisphere Calender System. Carplay isn't late at all! My only question for you would be why? The display needs to be on for mirroring to operate, and AppRadio Mode already makes my phone pretty warm. The battery drain would most likely be horrendous. If it works please let us know, because as a mere science experiment alone, this sounds fun, but I don't see the advantage. As soon as I have to plug in my iPhone to charge it while using this, all advantages of this system would be lost.

I'm honestly just thinking about getting the Sony Headunit. The whole point of carplay, or appradio mode was letting me control my phone in my car. Well screw the middle man, let my phone be my radio! Let the iPhone do the stuff the iPhone does well. The user interface and the apps, from music streaming and car diagnostics to the plethora of mapping applications. Let Sony do what Sony does best. Radio can switch between FM, iPod, and CD player. I agree to them not giving a new date. However, there should be some form of an apology from the company. Pretending we don't have calendars and that we don't know summer has passed is just plain asinine. What they should have done is Apologized in a formal press release and then just stated "it will come out when it is ready. Not a day before, not a day after. Please be patient."

This product could have launched exactly on time and I still would have no interest in it after how Pioneer has treated its consumers that bought into the "summer" release date. iOS 8 isn't yet supported, and the new phones only run that. Man Pioneer is just a mess these days. In reality though they should work fine.

Maybe the specifics, maybe, but the unit seems like it's real. If you do a google search the DA120 was a unit on the Pioneer EU website right before the story broke. the link doesn't work anymore, but it used to, and it was a Pioneer link.

I find it funny that both Halfords and Appradioworld deleted any mention of this mysterious unit. I don't care either way. I am never buying another Pioneer product ever again. My second car is getting whatever alpine is going to launch. As far as the 4000 I already own, I'm gonna give Pioneer until Alpine launches their unit to get the NEX running carplay, but if they lose to alpine's launch of a new radio with a launch of a mere software update, I'm going to sell my NEX and buy two alpines instead of one.

Apple just updated their carplay page again. the 9 automakers they took away 2 days ago are back and coming 2014 never went away, it just moved up to the start of the page. So as of right now no change on carplay from Apple. Just a website restructuring.
