  1. First thing I'd check is your antenna placement - XM antenna needs to be on the outside of the car, mounted flat on a metal surface of the car. XM signals are weaker than GPS; XM antenna will not pick up signals well if it's anywhere inside the car. If antenna placement is per the above, next I'd check the routing and condition of the antenna wire itself - the wire should not be crimped in any place, and make sure there's no tears in the insulation. One of these areas is the likely source of your problem - XM reception should be clear and strong (as long as your antenna has an unobstructed
  2. My intense desire to get rid of my key beeps is trumped by my fear of bricking my F90. Although I'm pretty good with installing these units, I'm not sure how to do this mod - would anyone be so kind as to write up a step-by-step tutorial? (After which this thread should be made a sticky - this is one mod these F-series units really need!)
  3. Wow...I just checked abtelectronics.com just for fun; they're selling the F90BT for $868.00 with free shipping - compared to al-eds.com's price of $983.99 with the 18% off for using AVIC411 coupon code. What's up with that, al-eds?? You gonna price match abt??
  4. Your one year warranty is from the seller; won't be backed by Pioneer. I'd rather spend a few extra $$ for the peace of mind in knowing that Pioneer will be ultimately responsible for the warranty work and/or replacement of my AVIC.
  5. It must really be different, 'cause according to Pioneer's own statement at http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... et+Dealers they do not "offer its limited manufacturer's warranty or rebates for products purchased from any dealers on eBay."
  6. No it didn't - go to http://www.al-eds.com/Pioneer-AVICF90BT-p18725.html , click on "Add to Cart", then on the next page enter coupon code "AVIC411" for the 18% discount. Takes the price down from $1,199.99 to $983.99 with free shipping.
  7. Try pairing it using the "Select Specific Device" option on the AVIC unit, and try pairing it with every option (phone) listed under that selection. I was having great trouble with my Motorola Q9C until I went this route and discovered that the BT profile under the "Samsung A9xx" was a perfect match for my Moto phone.
  8. Yes, kdoll, I've heard of Jetware - my workaround for the Q9C (detailed in separate thread; link in my above post) works great for this phone and it's free for life.
  9. You need to connect the blue antenna wire you have coming out of the Pioneer harness to the blue antenna wire you have coming out of your antenna adapter. Leave the blue/white wire coming out of your Metra harness hangin', as you're bypassing that by performing the above connection.
  10. Before you install Jetware, try pairing your phone using the "select specific device" option on the F-series. And try every one of the phones and options listed there - I was having similar problems with my Motorola Q9C running Windows Mobile 6.1 until I tried this method and discovered that by pairing it under the "Samsung A9xx" option everything, including phonebook transfer, worked great.
  11. ya...I was about ready to throw my Q9C against the wall 'til I figured out how to make it work with the F90BT. Shouldn't be this hard, though...
  12. It should work fine if you just connect the orange/white wire from the Pioneer harness to the same wire on the Metra harness. Some cars are different, though...I did an '05 Mustang that only worked correctly when I tapped the illumination wire right at the headlight switch and connected that to the orange/white on the Pioneer harness (as opposed to connecting the orange/white wire off the Pioneer harness to the Metra one).
  13. Any wire you don't need to connect, you can leave hangin' from either (or both) harness - doesn't matter, since you don't need it. Or, go ahead and connect them all - that wouldn't hurt either.
  14. If you're installing an antenna adapter (to convert your smaller factory antenna connection to a standard plug-in type required by the AVIC), then yes, you will have to connect the blue antenna wire from the Pioneer harness to the blue wire of your antenna adapter. And definitely do all your wiring/soldering in the house - no need to do all that in the car.
  15. Get yourself a new PS3 and a couple games at BB with your credit, then buy an F90BT from al-eds.com with the 18% discount. ;
  16. Yep, just match the colors from your Metra harness and connect those to the same colored wires coming out of the Pioneer harness and then plug the Metra end into your factory wiring harness. I'm a big fan of using solder and heat-shrink tubing; makes for a bulletproof installation. As far as which wires from your Metra will be left over (unconnected to your Pioneer), that depends on your vehicle and what it has - e.g.; if you have no need to connect the blue power antenna wire, then just leave it hangin'. And be sure and do the bypass as described in the sticky posting in the "Hacks" thread
  17. **UPDATE** -- Got the Q9C working on my F90BT!! See separate thread at: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 563#111563
  18. After much frustration, trial and error, I think I finally found success!! I went through the pairing process on my F90BT using "Select a Specfic Device", and lo and behold the top selection, "Samsung A9xx", on the second page of devices works with the Q9C!! Pair it using this option, then just be patient - eventually you'll see another screen pop up on your phone that the Pioneer Navi is attempting to access the PIM synchronization feature of your Q9C - allow it do so. Then, be patient some more and you'll see the headset icon appear at the top of the Q9C - once you see that, then go throu
  19. Let me know if you find a Sprint phone that works with the F90BT. I'm very disappointed that my Q9c won't work with it. Odd thing is, I've used it with the Parrot CK3100 handsfree kit and it worked perfectly...which tells me Pioneer screwed up the implementation of the Parrot chip in the F90.
  20. I am - updated my Q9C to 6.1 within days of when the update was released.
  21. Yep, that too...dial pad comes up on the F90, and I can enter phone numbers on it, but nothing happens when I punch the green dial symbol. In addition to contacting Parrot direct, I've also emailed Pioneer support about all these phone issues.
  22. he said the connecting/disconnecting off the bluetooth and the nav boxes on the map screen and other little details I sincerely hope update 2.0 fixes the remaining Bluetooth problems. I'm using a Motorola Q9C, I get no incoming call screen; system hangs up after I end a call and I have to manually disconnect the phone to get music back; and after I finally loaded the contacts (manually, one-by-one) there's no way to differentiate between numbers (e.g.; cell or home) for the same contact. Plus, it switched some of the numbers and is displaying them under the wrong contact. My F90BT came
