  1. How many are necessary and do the letters printed on the sides matter? I'm guessing I can use as many or as few line up with the mounting bracket? Btw, I have 1/2" screws (12 mm) which is longer then the supposed max of 8mm. Although screwing them in doesn't seem to make contact with anything on the inside and they screw all the way in/down. Thanks
  2. Ok, thanks. I forgot that it's supposed to be dimmer when the headlights are on and it's nighttime out. Thanks again..
  3. I'm using a Metra 70-2002 harness to connect to my stock Saturn SC2 harness. From the Pioneer manual it has one Orange/White wire "To lighting switch terminal.". But the Metra color code has two wirea I guess it could be, "Illumination - Orange" and "Dimmer - Orange/White." I've tried connecting the AppRadio's Orange/White to both the Orange and Orange/White wires of the Metra harness but it seems that the backlight on the radio only comes on when I turn the headlights off. When I turn them on the radio gets so dim it's barely visible. Any ideas which is the correct wire? And is the
  4. Ok, but turning off the backlight saves battery and keeps the phone from over heating, the main problems when trying to mirror MHL for long periods of time.
  5. I finally got a chance to test it, and turns off the screen on my Galaxy Nexus... Can't test with the AppRadio though because I don't have an MHL cable (I returned all the cheap ones I bought and cant decided whether to buy the official connectivity kit or modify a cheap one as kagronick suggested.)
  6. Says it works with all devices including the Galaxy Nexus (AMOLED), by just turning the screen brightness to 0. Better link: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1934495
  7. Just a heads up I just noticed this thread over on XDA, don't know if it'll work with this but some one should try it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1927547 [APP] Turn screen off while MHL / HDMI mirroring / Downloading data
  8. Here was what I was going to post originally: But I did a little more work, and went back and saw that you have a Droid Razr and checked out the forum on XDA, and you're right, CM10 for the Droid Razr is not as far as long as for the Galaxy Nexus. It says it's beta and almost ready for daily use...Personally I'd go ahead, back up your txts (theres an app for that), pictures and SD-Card (mostly everything else should be backed up by through Google automatically) and unlock your bootloader and install a custom recovery. That's the hard stuff. Then you have the option of trying CM10 o
  9. http://forum.xda-developers.com/index.php Go to the development forum for your specific phone. Look for a Jelly Bean rom, and instructions on how to install it. I recommend CyanogenMod10 (CM10). It's pretty easy, and there are usually some 1-click solutions available. Basically install a custom recovery (ClockworkMod) and then a custom rom (CM10). After the initial formatting and setting up, it's a very easy process.
  10. Have you looked at the apps in the Google Play Store? It tells you "What's New" with the newest updates...But the biggest thing was Jelly Bean support.
  11. Oh you're asking about other phones that aren't the Galaxy Nexus and don't have soft keys on their screen, but actual soft buttons in their bezel...good question
  12. When my phone starts to run really hot I usually try to take the case and back cover off, to at least ventilate the battery. Its a pain in the neck, but the biggest problem with all the extra heat is how inefficient the battery use/charging gets.
  13. Just curious, what's the problem with bluetooth dongles? It would screw up this option?
  14. Good idea man. Maybe a $35 Raspberry Pi, http://www.raspberrypi.org/archives/1700
  15. It doesn't support XM unfortunately... you could use the XM app on your phone
  16. It does fail semi-often, keep trying until it succeeds...it's only a bluetooth connection so it should work with all phones I'd think
  17. It's like multiplayer notepad. If the channel were on efnet or linknet (the two I usually idle on) I'd definitely join, but setting up a 3rd connection is a whole thing lol
  18. When it says 'ready to connect' it means the Bluetooth isn't connected (even if the Bluetooth icon is blue or green (I forget if the EVO is ICS or gingerbread) on the phone). Did you every see the picture indicating to plug in the MHL cable? And you forced the bluetooth connection from the radio where it says 25%, 50%, 75%, 100% and then beeps and says Succeeded like I said in my original post?
  19. Before even plugging in the MHL cable (at least to test initially) open the AppRadio App. It should say 'ready to connect'. Connect to your phone via Bluetooth from the connection menu in the phone settings area on the radio. Once the Bluetooth connection succeeds, the picture on the AppRadio app should change indicating you to plug in the MHL cable. After it's plugged in then open the Apps menu on the radio and you should enter advanced app mode and have to touch the 4 dots (on the radio screen) and all that nonsense. After you're sure its working, just plugging in the MHL cable and p
  20. Aright true, I 'misspoke' I meant that Maps on the radio isn't using the actual Google Maps app on your phone. It uses the Google Maps API that pioneer built into the AppRadio App on your phone. So for instance, I heard (read) someone wonder what would happen to Google Maps on the AppRadio once iOS 6 drops Google Maps as it's default Maps application. It really shouldn't affect anything, since Pioneer is using the Google Maps API separately
  21. It doesn't actually get the maps from your mobile device. The Maps are a limited useage of the normal Google Maps API that are just built into the radio.
  22. I'm confused on all "bluetooth problems." I've got a Galaxy Nexus, but never have any trouble connecting to bluetooth automatically. I leave the bluetooth radio on my phone on, but not connected (gray icon instead of blue). Plug in the MHL cable (on the home screen or in the AppRadio app). The "Apps" button on the AR2 enables. Clicking it, gives me a message about connecting the bluetooth with two options, "BT Settings" (same menu as available by going to Phone > Settings > Connection > clicking -my phone- to connect) and "OK", you just push OK and wait, and after a second the Bl
  23. No, reason to lock my phone in portrait anymore after FINALLY receiving my Nexus 7 edit: Kind of disappointed now though, after realizing the Nexus 7 doesn't support MHL...I wanted to check out the Jelly Bean bugs you mentioned.
  24. @outcastrc: I've got a similar cable to yours but the screen on the AppRadio keeps losing connection/glitching out. Does that happen with yours? I'm thinking I might have to return this cable...
