  1. Just in case anyone else was wondering - they are in fact not the same harness part number. I did find someone else on the forum saying they went from a Z110 to a Z140 and all they had to do was redo the ebrake wire since it's on the other harness. I'm wondering if going to the Z150 would be the same.
  2. I was looking through the forums and I couldn't find a definitive answer. I have a Z110BT in my car now. If I replace it with a Z150BH will I have to rebuild my harness? Or should it just be plug and play? Thanks!
  3. Oh you're right. I just dug everything out and the iPod cable does have a 3.5mm jack but it doesn't plug into the back of the head unit... it terminates at the plug. Cool. Nothing to worry about. Thanks!
  4. I have a Z110BT and the iPod adapter from my old car and I am going to install them in my new car. I'd also like to retain my steering wheel controls so I bought a Metra Axxess ASWC. When I was looking at the ASWC though, it looks like it needs to use the plug that the iPod adapter uses. Is it not possible to use the ASWC with the Z110BT?
  5. There are too many threads on the same subject - but yes do it, research it, it is easy. I would think if you can do the bypass, the install is pretty much a no brainer - which means - why have someone else do the install???? I was thinking the same thing only because I've done it so many times. There are things, like building the harness, tucking the gps wire, and finding the VSS wire that can be annoying to do. Doing the bypass is easy in comparison.
  6. Sucks to have them install it if you're just going to rip it all out to bypass it. Move the pin over and tell them you want it grounded when you give it to them. Don't get into details. Then you can just do the ebrake grounding wire when you get home. Problem solved.
  7. What do you mean what kind of pin? It's like some proprietary thing I believe. Can't you bend it back into shape?
  8. Answered my own question: No. Done making the new harness anyway. No biggy.
  9. I have an Avic D2 in my car already that is coming out tomorrow. I was wondering though - do I need to make a new harness or will the D2 harness that's in the car work fine? I'm assuming no, but it would be nice to save myself the headache.
  10. If you do a POI setup for the trapster cameras, can you upload it somewhere for all to enjoy?
  11. I'm not sure if this is common knowledge or not, but if you flip the white plug over and look at the bottom there are 3 little notches in the bottom. If you pry up on all of them, the center piece that does the locking becomes loose. Don't take it all the way out though! From there, just take a straightened out staple and put it in the small rectangular hole below the pin you are removing. Give the wire a little tug and it should come right out. Move the wire over and then snap the center piece of the connector back down into place and you should be good to go. That should help
  12. That's basically what I did except I price matched Amazon.com when they had it for really low. I got this head unit for the same amount I paid for a used D2 several years ago.
  13. Same problem here. It's the disc from a certain very well known torrent site isn't it? It's flawed somehow. I gave up and decided my choices were drop $120 on the discs or get a newer head unit. I went with the latter.
  14. Think it was just a bad burn? I mean it USED to work fine.
  15. I don't know if this is related but sometimes my GPS just refuses to try to locate something I know it has been able to locate in the past. I'm wondering now if this was a disk burning issue. It seems to work fine MOST of the time, except that it boots really slowly sometimes and just doesn't work.
  16. Took me like 3-4 hours to download. I seeded for a while, but my ISP is really down on constantly uploading stuff so I had to stop. BTW, if you're having trouble burning it then definitely check the booktyping stuff in Alcohol 120%. I was trying and trying and then I did some research on booktyping and I discovered that my DVD burner didn't support it. I found another set of firmware for the DVD burner and then tried to burn again and it worked fine. As far as UltraIso goes... I dunno what the problem is with that but I'm also getting an access violation with that.
  17. So what's the deal if you get a bad download? Just redownload it? Is there a way to fix the file?
  18. Wow. Apparently folks are moving along this rapidly. I wish I had disassembly skills... that's really something I should read up on.
  19. Confirmed. Got it all installed today and it's working great... here's more info here: http://wrxmodders.com/forums/viewtopic. ... 010#100010 Thanks!
  20. Thanks a bunch. Assembled my harness, ran the wire, and then ran out of day light. Tomorrow I will post back with my results
  21. Can someone please tell me where this wire is? I'm reading that the "VSS wire is the green/black striped wire in the right-most wiring harness behind the gauge cluster. The wire is also found on the very right of the harness itself." Is this correct? Thanks in advance.
  22. Thanks for the heads up on that. Do you think radioshack would carry some sort of a noise filter?
  23. Awesome. You are the man. Can you link me to that site btw?
  24. Damn I was just at radioshack tonight too lol. 1k ohm resistor huh? In the book it says fuse/resistor but I've never heard of a resistor that is also a fuse. So like if I don't have one is my head unit gonna die on me or should I just get one of those, throw it in line, and call it a day?
  25. Ah I see. So I could basically put a really small fuse on there and it would do the same thing right?
