  1. yea ur right i dnt have too many posts but i do kno wut im talking about... just trying to help out my fellow newbies who just dont kno n e thing at all... like how to use the search feature on this forum
  2. yea just make sure your antenna isnt under n e thing metal.... and make sure u have good reception from the satellites....
  3. turn on the backlight... another great feature of that 30 cable is letting u play your music through you d3... just in case u didnt kno
  4. this was covered some where else on this forum but ill say it again... in order to get rid of that whine you need to turn your back light to always on or turn the charge ipod setting off.... if you turn the back light to always on it will not kill your battery on the ipod because it turns off after nothing is connected to it for a while..... trust me it works i used to hate that whine cause i blast my music so i would hear that whine nice and clear...
  5. i have an 04 altima.... and from wut the pros are saying here and from wut i kno is wired in my car (vss) it is a pink wire on the stock harness that would do it ... ill take a pic for u so you can see it juss gimme a min or 2
  6. if you dont have a metal dash like in my altima you can put the antenna under the dash... however because the sirius antennas suck that doesnt work well.. but i always get great reception including with my ez pass for those of you who live in nj, ny.... i would hate to have the thing on my window
  7. wut model??? does your antenna have clear sight to the sky.... through windows should be fine unless u have a metal based window.... if that doesnt work try resetting everything... not by just pushing the soft buttom but unplugging the unit entirely for a little while..... before you reset it take out the nav disc and then let it start up fully.... it should at least be able to see wut state your in.... then put in the disc and zoom in.... the drive around for 10 min.... if that doesnt work.... maybe bad unit/antenna
  8. no if they ground everything right and your mute wire doesnt come loose you should be fine.... sounds like ur confused on wut a wiring harness is.... all it does is plug into ur stock plug that would normally go into your radio.... the other end is the spliced to your radio/nav system.... you could hook up a system with out using a harness but that would void the warranty on ur car ( because u would cut into the factory wiring rather than plugging into it)... and im sure you nor circuit city wants to do that
  9. hold the open button down rather than just pressing it for it to tilt then youll have access to the eject button for the dvd
  10. yup it would... trust me ive dne it b 4.. your hot wire is still connected keeping all your settings and wut not
  11. check ur ground... might be loose
  12. dnt quote me on this but i think the d3 has a 4ohm resistance... maybe thats the prob.... when i originally had my d2 hooked up to my stock speakers which are 2 ohm it worked but it was likely to blow the head unit.... really weird problem your having let it sit on the forum for a little.... these guys are usually good with fixing this type of stuff.... one other thing.... try switch your front and rear connections if possible.... have the rear on the amp and the front on the harness.... to check if it is a speaker prob....
  13. you kno wut else would be nice to go with the type r theme.... type r speakers and subs from alpine.... i like em....
  14. connections at the harness?... do you hear n e engine noise from them like a wine
  15. koo thanks for the help... just noticed the infra red port on the d3....lol
  16. check your preferred routes like... avoid toll roads... avoid freeway.... stuff like that... i kno when i drive down to ga ill be on i85 and it will tell me to get on i85 business because i have it on avoid freeway makes you drive further but it could be that option
  17. i kno for the other remote you need to wire it to the back of the unit at least power it and plug it into the remote port on the back of the d3... but looking at the owners manual it doesnt say n e thing about wiring it at all so maybe ill get it
  18. does the cd r55 need to be plugged into the back of the d3 or does it use infrared or something along those lines... i have the steering wheel control interface and wanted to know if i can have the benefit of both....
  19. ill wire is just a + charge when ever your lights come on.... if you wire it to your head light or parking lights that will fix the prob... i had wired the d3 myself and was too lazy to figure out how to install the steering wheel control because it has so much programming involved... but when i took it to a loval installer they wound up messing it all up and i had to make and x tra trip there once i found out the illumination wire wasnt hooked up..... they tried to make me believe that there was some weird programming you had to do to get it to work.... funny i didnt have to do that when
  20. check to make sure your smart installer pugged in your ipod to the right socket... the ipod wire goes directly from the back of the unit to the ipod no separate box required ... if he plugged it into the sirius then into you d3 it wont work.... and if he is just using the box verison where the wire to your ipod is white instead of black that might be the issue too
  21. try resetting your ipod... plug it in and format it.... then just update the library again.... does the screen say pioneer when you plug it in?
  22. o i think im a little confused... do you mean an actual hard button on the d3 or just an option to turn them off.... if you want just one button to turn them off the d3 doesnt have that... you can make a switch to turn off your amp for the subs.... sorry for the confusion
  23. in the d3.... menu...sound...subwoofer.... its in the same menu that your eq settings are
  24. yes it also lets you set how loud you want the subs to be.... and if you have the subs reversed it has the option for that
