  1. I saw Aha and Pandora both after the 5.0 portion of the upgrade (z130bt), and after the 5.1 app update. I'm at 5.1 now, Aha and Pandora are still there ... but I am concerned with what else I might be losing. Even though I've never used it before ... I just went to the car, plugged my iPhone 4S into the 30pin extension for my USB/Aux cable, and AppRadio popped up, prompting me to download the AppRadio utility app for my iphone, after which it showed me about 20 compatible apps. I was able to use the touch screen display on my head unit to move around on the desktop screens. I didn't
  2. Check out this thread -- 2013 USA/CAN Maps Download
  3. I have two questions: 1) Is the difference between 5.0 and 5.1 only with cabled iPods? Or does it affect bluetooth connected functionality too? 2) If you don't have a z140bh to get the firmware update, does this difference between 5.0 and 5.1 change? I went 5.1 nonag, but I'll back up to 5.0 nonag now that RonS has figured it out, if there is a difference in functionality with my z130 that I don't want. Thanks. John
  4. Okay, all is good with the z130 ... 5.1 and no nag screen Pre-modding didn't work ... as you thought, the .VER file must have checksum info per file. The install made it a dozen or two files into the copy and then posted a failure. And the .VER file is a binary, so no idea how to read those numbers. Removing FIRMWARE and TESTMODE.KEY worked fine ... no messages about uCOM ... just an app update. I had to use my original TESTMODE.KEY file to get the file maintenance menu. The file distributed with the 5.1 firmware release just gives you a uCOM update screen. I'm still not s
  5. And for those of us who haven't done the upgrade yet, can we make the mod to the file in the distribution before we install it? Thanks. John
  6. If you say you updated from the Pioneer update, that means your head unit is reading the SD slot, no? What is in the top level directory of your card? I believe it should have three things: * FIRMWARE (folder) * Update (folder) * CARDINFO (file) ... and not: * 2012 USA-CANADA MAP UPDATE -- John
  7. Sounds great! I have a couple of questions -- * Will this update directly from version 3.00x? (I have a z130bt running 3.001) * Does this update include the nag screen removal? (I implemented the nag screen removal hack last year, but on 3.001) Thanks. John
  8. but doesn't the update give you a much more accurate list of POIs? you don't lose all voice command ... just navigation voice command, correct?
  9. I used a hack that was posted by Pionara, which involved using a binary editor to change a bit or two which removed the branch of code that displays that screen. Evidently that posting was deleted from the forum for some unexplained reason -- I don't know if Pionara will repost, but I would suggest PM'ing him for help. Fyi I still have an SD card with distribution dated 2/24/13 ... I think this was the one I used to install the hack, but I don't have any instructions to go with it. If you can get the instructions I could send you my files to load on an SD card and install them. (Althoug
  10. I thought the GPS would have accelerometer and compass in addition to the GPS locator ... so it would have enough information to compute a rough speed ... but I didn't think it actually computed it. I have the z130BT with 3.0 software on it, with hardware brake bypass and software nag screen removal hack. ... is yours upgraded to 4.0?
  11. It's not .. if one out of every two places your nav leads you to, is closed ...
  12. sounds like your speed control wire is connected, and working ... no?
  13. ... and it looks like v2 should give you plenty of bandwidth to play MP3s and even WAV file if the player supports it (I wouldn't know). http://whatis.techtarget.com/definition/Bluetooth-20EDR
  14. I have the z130BT and I can tell you the bluetooth audio quality is pretty good ... I have 320k MP3s on my iPhone and I cannot really tell the difference between songs played from the iPhone and from the SD card in the head unit. If you look at the firmware upgrades you will also see Bluetooth driver versions 3.x ... not sure if that means Bluetooth V3 protocol or not.
  15. That's the "nag screen" removal ... it was covered in another thread, but I heard that thread was accidentally deleted. I performed the nag screen removal operation myself on my z130BT, but I didn't save the instructions as I assumed the instructions would always remain on the forum. I would search for "nag screen".
  16. Question -- Does this update change the UI or graphics of the maps at all? Or is this simply road and POI updates, and some functional changes such as disabling voice command for navigation? Thanks. John
  17. +1 ... please bring back the nag screen removal thread for 4.x. I would like to upgrade the maps on my z130bt, have had nag screen removed for a year now and don't want to bring it back ...!! Thanks. John
  18. I've Y'ed identical condenser mics in my pro audio gear ... these are balanced mics though, but the sound is clear and from what I can tell completely unaffected by the Y. The mics are the same brand and model though. The car stereo mics should be condenser or electret (a form of condenser), but I've never tried doing a Y on unbalanced mics.
  19. I tried the same thing when I first installed the radio and didn't have the illumination wire connected yet. I think this is used to force the radio to stay in day mode even when it's dark outside. An odd behavior but I think this is the way it was designed. Not that it will help at all, but it installed the metro ASWC and used the manual programming mode to program the buttons on my steering wheel. It's to bad pioneer doesn't have a SWC built into their head unit. All these extra boxes! The easiest way would be to install a manual switch on or under the dash somewhere yourself. Some pe
  20. On my z130bt the map turns to night mode when the orange wire receives a voltage. When the wire has no voltage the map stays in day mode. There's no time delay when it switches between day and night mode. My mercedes has a green glow ring around the cigarette lighter that turns on whenever it gets dark outside. I don't know what turns it on, but the wire leading to that light gets 12v when it's dark outside. So I tapped this wire to the orange, and all works well It's odd that your radio does the opposite. I would be surprised if the z150 was different from the z130. Somehow
  21. Interestingly, this morning the tuner started working again! I just saw your note on pulling the fuse -- will keep that in mind for the next time this happens -- but I didn't do anything this time around except for not using the tuner for a few days and then finally trying it this morning. Any ideas on what caused the problem and why it fixed itself? Do the different operating sections of the head unit have their own circuit breakers, thermal or otherwise? Thanks. John
  22. It's likely that the 12v switched wire on the Scosche harness isn't actually connected to the car. Check the pin where each of the wires on the Scosche plug match up with the car's plug, and see if there is a wire supplying switched 12v power. If not, then you will need to tap into something else in the dash such as a cigarette lighter wire. This was the case on my Mercedes -- no switched 12v on the car's radio harness -- so I had to tap into the cig lighter for it.
  23. I posted my results of a test where I created 3000 files, and could only see the first 2500 through the head unit. If someone is able to successfully view more files please describe the folder/file structure that you used. Thanks. John
  24. Yesterday while listening to HD radio for a while, the radio suddenly went "fffZZZZttttt!!!!" ... and then nothing. I can still operate all other functions of the radio, including traffic tuner, with seemingly no issues whatsoever. The sound is great on everything but the tuner, which has absolutely no sound (i.e. no static, whining, clicking, etc). When I switch to the tuner it stays on one channel (with no sound) and the info box on the right-hand side of the screen just spins like it's trying to lock onto the station. If I try a seek it will display ***.* for a moment and then red
  25. Okay I tried Cwolfey's suggestion of powering the PAC TR-4 via the switched 12v wire instead of constant 12v, and it works like a charm So to clarify the wiring assignments: TR-4 --> car/harness Constant 12v --> switched 12v Ground --> ground Signal In --> radio antenna/accessory wire Signal out --> amp remote turn-on wire Thanks. John
