1. I had a similar problem with the bluetooth update. I burned 3 different copies and they all had problems. Finally, I downloaded an ISO extractor (they are free all over the internet) and extracted the image to a folder on my hard drive. I then burned the contents of the folder to a disc. I put that in my Z1, reset it and it finished just fine. So, if you are having problems with the install, I would try this method before sending it in for service.
2. Since I'm the only one who had this problem as far as I know, I would guess yes, you would lose your info and most likely your unit. It would have to be sent back to pioneer for repair. I didn't have to do that because before I installed the update I pulled the drive out, unlocked the hard drive (with the $50 utility) and backed up all 4 partitions on the hard drive and was able to restore my hard drive from my previously saved backups. If I hadn't done that, I would have needed to send my Z1 back to Pioneer and I would bet they would have wiped the drive and reloaded it back to stock
3. I bought one of these, but I was a little nervous about the install. It says that you spray it apply it and squeeze out the excess fluid. Is there any possibility of some of that fluid getting behind the screen and shorting something out? Are there any tricks to the install? Thanks

If you have the navigation voice turned off, you will not hear the rings. You will also not hear the voice prompts when you hit the button for the voice recognition. Why Pioneer linked all of these together is a complete mystery to me.
5. you could also create smart playlists in iTunes that will automatically be populated with the criteria you select. i.e. - artist starts with A
6. Yes, you can have it give you an audible alert for POI's if you store the POI in your address book and set a sound for it. Every time you get near the POI the sound will play.
7. Just sent my money. Can't wait to get it!!
8. I have this strange problem. Every once in a while, when I start my vehicle, the Z1 does not turn on. If I turn the vehicle off then back on everything is fine. I have checked all of the wiring and everything seems to be hooked up right. Temperature is about 70F to 80F so it's not too hot or too cold. I have found 2 other D1 owners that have had this happen to them too. Does anyone have any insight into what might be causing this to happen?
9.
Ability to add POI's with proximity alarms - my Magellan let me download all the red light cameras as POI and it will warn me when I am aproaching one
If you create something (say, a red light camera) as an entry in your address book, you can set a sound to it. When you get close to it the sound will play, even if you are not routing to it.
10. 1) MP3, WMA, AAC copy to HD - would settle for at least MP3's 2) Better iPod interface - ability to type in letters to search; faster 3) OBDII interface - the vehicle dynamics is cool but not very useful. They could easily connect to the OBD II port and show much , much more useful information. If the vehicle throws a code, it could explain it and route you to the nearest dealer. Plus you could get info like MPG and it could route you to a gas station if you are getting low on fuel. Also, there would be no need to connect a VSS lead or a reverse sensor lead. It could get all that info
