  1. Turn your headlights on manually? Put the dimmer wire on a switch so you can dim it whenever you want.
  2. Use a multimeter and check to make sure your actually tapped into a wire that goes to +12v when the lights are on.
  3. You will rpobrably have to do a little searching because one of those wires is to turn on your factory amp. It's more than likely going to need a switched 12v source and then you will have sound. If you are giving your amp speaker level inputs it may sound like sh*t and the volume may be very sensitive. If this is the case wire in the front and rear outs instead.
  4. What specifics are you looking for in the XM part of the unit? I think the XM display is great, just wish it had more than 6 presets on the display at once. I hear it's the Sirius part that's lacking.
  5. The Z1 is a standart DD size. No bigger, no smaller. Is it too deep, as in the back of the radio hits something in the dash? Or is it too wide? Your car may not be compatible with aftermarket radio's if the dash opening is not wide enough.
  6. you can change this in the setup screen, so there's no need to take the unit out of the dash.
  7. I don't know, I haven't tried it yet. My friend just got a D3 and MP3 DVD's work in it, we tried it the other day.
  8. Sounds like a problemw ith the screen itself. If one of the tiny internal traces or a connection on the ribbon cable breaks or goes bad then you get these lines. Happens with everything from laptops to cell phones. If you have to pay out of pocket I'd just deal with it, maybe try wacking the dash with the side of your fist. After some time it could go away for good if your lucky.
  9. There is no brain for the AVIC, it's all built into one unit. Anything external is add on stuff like XM or an iPod adapter, you can put it anywhere, like the glove box or under the seat, as long as the wires reach.
  10. There is a data plug on the back of the unit that hooks up to the XM Nav Traffic box, not sure if it's used for anything else.
  11. Nice! Do you have a multimeter? There should be a wire in your radio harness that goes +12V when the lights are turned on. In an aftermarket harness it's the orange wire.
  12. I'd absolutely buy it again. There's nothing else out there that I like. My friend has an Eclipse unit and I think it's a piece of sh*t.
  13. I just helped a friend install a D3 in his 07 TRD Taco. Get the Scosche dash kit, the color is a perfect match and the quality is very good. The install wasn't very hard at all. I even wired up the steering controls with a PAC adapter.
  14. Not too sure where you will find this info. The car is very new and no one has really modified one yet. Your best bet is probrably going to be tracing the wire from the VSS sensor on the transmission or maybe you will get lucky and find it in the stock radio harness if you have the speed sensitive volume control feature. One of my cars was like this, and I know a lot of new Fords have this feature. Maybe do some searching on a Ford 500 message board since the car has a lot in common with the 500. I'm a member of a Taurus message board and have not seen any of the information you are seekin
