  1. I have a stock Z2 (pre-june) that I had previously wired with the two-wire bypass anticipating an update like this. Downloaded the ISO this morning, burnt it on my Mac (PC isn't necessary), put it in.... "Want to update?"... "Updating!"... "Done!" (no retry errors or anything). Then I did the reset to get rid of the parking break message, and PRESTO CHANGO, bypassed Z2!!! Works like a charm. Well done and thanks to all!!
  2. I would suggest paying Hyperite for this post: http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8783
  3. can somebody make a bit torrent out of it and upload the torrent to piratebay (or any other of the thousands of free torrent hosting sites out there)?
  4. I wonder if a product exists that is a little box that you plug a reverse camera and those little sensors that go into the bumper, and it outputs a video feed of the reverse camera + a sensor overlay type thing. That way you could have it wired into the backup inputs on a Z2 and when you put it in reverse, you get not only the camera, but also distance sensor radar things. I found this: http://skyworthauto.manufacturer.globalsources.com/si/6008820752304/pdtl/Parking-sensor/1002268145/Parking-Sensor.htm But I'm not sure if it's quite the right product. Also, that link is from an e
  5. Looking forward to it!
  6. So what actually happens if I ground the parking break wire? When and how often does the popup box appear? Can I still use the extra features of the nav when the GPS/VSS/gyro say I'm not moving? Grounding the parking break wire seems like a better alternative than having the parking wire properly connected because if I'm sitting in traffic inching along, I can use the extra features most of the time without having to put on the parking break every few seconds.
  7. I have a Z2 arriving tomorrow (according to UPS). I'm hoping to install it this weekend, but I'm still missing a CAN BUS interface module (to get VSS, accessory, reverse, parking break, etc) and don't really want to go splicing into the ABS system to find the VSS wire... so it might not be for another week or two before it's actually installed. So in the mean time, I'd like to poke around and see if there's a nice pure-software solution to doing the bypass.
  8. It goes the other way.... start the group... get people contributing... and then maybe if it gets high enough somebody smart will figure it out. If not, everybody gets their money back.
  9. Can somebody send me the Z2 image or give me FTP access or something? I'd love to poke around a bit... maybe it's possible to send the image without all the navigation data (so it's not 17gb)? Also, does anybody have the bluetooth update CD for Z1? If so, maybe they could send an image of that as well?
  10. How about using a third party like http://fundable.org/ to make all these promises a little bit more real?
  11. Any status updates? Also, has anybody looked at the actual format of upgrade CD's? If somebody did figure out how to change the filesystem to do a Z2 bypass, could it be distributed via a custom built upgrade CD?
