  1. Did you ever get this fixed? When my unit was about a year old, I started having a similar problem and had to push the knob a little sideways to get it to work. Then, the rest of the buttons stopped working most of the time, and I have to push and hold the entire outer face plate (plate with the buttons attached) and simultaneously press buttons or turn the volume know to get it to work. I heard about the D1/D2 using a ribbon cable and it was easy to get a bad connection, but if I remember correctly in my research the D3 doesn't use a ribbon cable connection. Probably a really simple fix of a
  2. I have the same problem in my 1999 Toyota Landcruiser with factory amp. Tried multiple different grounding points. Probably related to the RCAs. While I haven't bought it yet, I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy a ground loop isolator. A 4-channel version can be had for only $8 + S/H at Monoprice dot com. Saw something similar at Fry's and I think it was $25-30. Didn't inspect further to see if it was wired into the ground line, or connected in between the RCAs lines like the Monoprice one.
  3. Is anyone having problems with "bit creep"? SWDW...since you help with so many of the disks, have you had problems for people months after getting your disks finding they just won't work anymore? Perhaps I just have a dirty lens? About a year ago I updated to the 80MT, and even using Imgburn or Nero or anything else, with verified taiyo-yuden DL media, it seems like everything will work great for a few weeks, maybe a month, and then the unit starts locking up every other time I start my vehicle. I'll burn a new disk and it seems to go away, or do the language reset once or twice and it will
  4. Thanks for the common sense approach to getting the reverse wire (looking at reverse lights for color, and then picking that up from the side). Was already working on side wires for other things (wiring in power for inverter) and so I know right where to pick it up once I determine which one it is. GPS antenna inside LC on dashboard is picking up 7/8 and 8/8 satellites consistently! No reason to go outside on this vehicle.
  5. Another "it works" to add here. Just finished installing my D3 on a 1999 Toyota Landcruiser. Wired up the VSS properly, grounded the unit itself to a screw to the stereo brackets (verified grounded), and hooked the illumination wire, mute and parking brake all to the harness ground. Yes, I know I could have grounded all of those together to one spot, but it was surprisingly convenient to do what I did. No illumination wire was part of the harness and I don't know where I might pick up the right signal, but I still may work on finding a spot to hook it up in the future. Bluetooth module arr
  6. Answered my own question for VSS... 4th connector down on the ECU behind the glovebox. Purple wire with stripes (grey or pink, I forget exact color). Still looking for reverse wire without going to back light, and know someone on Land Cruiser forum has found it using the service manual but I haven't located it.
  7. See thread here or post reply in this thread. Edit: Request for VSS & reverse wire for 1999 Toyota Landcruiser. Got the Metra adapter to stick with factory amp on AVIC-D3. Still looking for what the loose wires are from the adapter (just heading over to Metra's site now). Do they correspond with the same colors coming off the D3, or Toyota's wire colors? http://www.avic411.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=8596 Thank you for your help!!! -James
  8. Hello, Thought I had all my information together until partway through starting the install on my AVIC D3. Need the VSS wire, and reverse wire (not really necessary, since I'm not installing the camera at this time but might be nice to hook up anyway). I think the VSS is pink w/ purple striping, in 4th plug down on the ECU, but need to verify. Land Cruiser forum member had pics but didn't spell out the color and couldn't identify in his picture. Thanks!!! James
