I've had my z2 for 7 months or so and i love it. i'm not a big fan of ipods so the harddrive works GREAT for me. i have to say i absolutly HATE the EQ though. i'm really losing faith in pioneer now that the z3 is out and the only thing new on it is the maps. I am now thinking about selling my z2 and going with the new kenwood excelon 8120 and getting an ipod for that. this unit has some better features that pioneer seems to lack. the harddrive is the only thing that makes this unit my favorite, but that's nothing an ipod can't cure.

I used etronics.com. They were the cheapest and nothing was wrong with the unit...perfect. I'd reccommend using them.

Hey guys, i really am not into the whole ipod thing at all. but now im considering it. My z2 pretty much acts like my ipod by holding all my music but now its time for video. i was thinking about getting the 6 disc cd/dvd changer from pioneer, but that just seems like the obsolete route to take. plus its cheaper to just get the ipod and ipod adapter than it is to buy the $600 piece from pioneer then pay god knows how much for a custom install. from what i understand the video ipod needs to be plugged into av input of the z2. so does that mean i dont need to get the ipod adapter? suggesti

calvin1202...yes i was successful in getting the picture background to work. just do exactly what bigred said and it'll work fine. for some reason it doesn't work with windows, so use nero. nero works like a charm for the avics. after you put the disc in, go into the settings menu, then background, and the "import from disc" button should be highlighted.

so i got the email from pioneer the other day about the firmware update that should stop my z2 from freezing up. in the instructions it just says to burn it onto a cd-r. i know on the bypass update disc, the avics didn't recognize cd's burned by windows. i used nero for the last update, so in what format do i burn this firmware update? as an image? data cd? any ideas?

u dont need to unlock the drive on the z2 to download the bypass. mine isnt unlocked and it works just fine

i called my installer...hes going to take everything apart monday to double check that its all connected the way its supposed to be...hopefully it is just a loose ground or something...i dont wanna fool with it myself, since it was a custom install. i had a din and a half and plenty mods were needed to get the z2 to fit...thanks for all the help and suggestions!

ok problem...i burned the image to a cd no problem there. i inserted it into my z2 and it went very smoothly, said it was updated and i hit the reset button. my installer said he wired it for the bypass when he installed it, anticipating that something like this would come out. well...its not working! the messages still pop up and nothing is functioning correctly please help! i was so excited everything went smoothly and much to my amazement, my unit wasnt effected by the update

i havent looked at this forum in literally 4 days and all of this has happened?? 12 pages later, all these success stories and ALL questions answered, im feeling great right now! just downloaded the iso and will do everything tomorrow ASAP!! AGAIN THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO WORKED ON THIS BYPASS!! GREAT WORK!

well im from new orleans and got flooded in katrina...ill accept that upgrade disc as a generous donation to rebuilding my....stereo system! hahaha im sure ill have that thing soon enough

yea makes sense...i was just under the impression that the cd MADE the z2 bypassed. didnt realize it still needed mod after that. sorry for the confussion...just a thought...and in that case, i need to get my hands on that damn thing asap!

i personally dont think pioneer would post up a free download of that software. i mean, posting up a free download for z2 owners that will make the z2 bypassed?? sounds good to me, but pioneer doesn't want you (us) to watch tv and drive at the same time...so why would they even put this out, much less just GIVE it to people with the z2 already, knowing that it bypasses the z2, therefore making them liable for dumb drivers who wreck their cars while watching tv or playing with the unit???

i just spent 2 grand on the avic z2 last month! now i gotta spend another $250 for the bypass?? damn pioneer, yall killin me!!
