  1. Burbank, nice! I just moved from there to NM. I have to admit there are quite a few things I miss about SoCal.
  2. Well what do You think about the F90BT? Is the iPod interface the only thing you dislike about the Z? And on the other note I would wait a few weeks for the new releases to be shown. All the existing units should drop in price and you may see something better then all the existing units.

    New F310BT

Cool. But ya that screen does seem small.
  4. So did this little bird tell you anything else???
  5. When you do a Google search on "AVIC Z110BT" it brings up a DviX's page and under "DivX Home Theater Profile (720x576)" you can see. Company : Model : Product Type : Date Certified Pioneer Corporation : AVIC-Z110BT/XN/UC : no hardware type selected : Apr 23, 2009 http://www.divx.com/en/partner/certified/oemodm
  6. Oh ya. I know it would not be easy hence why I did not go forward with it. But I was thinking you could probably look for the signal there computers use. I would imagine those talk quite often. And yes, your other idea does sound interesting.
  7. Ya I guess all the posts about this have fallen far back on the list and it is no longer on the home page. So it may require a little searching now. I just thought it was kinda odd he made a New thread to post the link and answer his question he asked 3 days before.
  8. Umm ok. What are we looking for? The overheat issue is old news, check the date. If this is in response to your other question "z1 possible over heat???/?" please just use the post response button.
  9. Maybe something like this will be shown on the "Pioneer Road Show 2009" this June. That is about the correct time frame that the lady hinted at.

    2009 Maps

Umm... as far as I know the HDD upgrade is people loading the SW on a new HDD and selling it, not from Pioneer. The SW originally was released on disk from Pioneer. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/ ... CNDV-800HD
  11. When I was younger I was thinking it would be cool to have a RF tower setup (or piggy back off of existing cell/radio antennas) to detect and triangulate radios operating on specific frequency. ie police RF bands. Then overlay the triangulated positions on a map ie a Navi. But seeing how radar detectors are illegal in several places there is no way such a device would fly nor would I want most other people having such a thing. The other thing about the ticket cameras is some here in NM are mobile, they are mounted in a van.
  12. Ya I remember see that last year and thinking that should be here in about a year. I am getting kinda excited now. Good question ttTony but that is getting a little ahead of things. It is not even an American product yet. But one thing I have seen several people comment on about the Z's processor is too slow to do that video encoding (DVIX/MP4). So if a unit like that gets sold here it will likely have some different HW.
  13. I am not sure about buffing out the scratches but there was a post about replacing the screen a while back. I think they were not too expensive. Also if you put one of those tearaway protectors on, it may cover up some light scratches. viewtopic.php?f=19&t=11086&start=0
  14. What do you mean, backward compatible? Are you saying you would need new hardware for thing like the XM traffic? Other then that why would you care if you your system could not load the old maps? I guess you are worried about the Z1-3 not getting the new maps (forward compatible). If the maps and system are done in SW they may be able to just change the maps and routing algorithm in the Z#-->4 update. But there may be a HW limitation to it.

    New Z?

That would be great and I will keep on the look out but if they really are going to release it in two months why wouldn't they at least have a mock up or video at the CES. They did that for the F-series. My guess is that is will be longer then two months if at all but I hope I am wrong.
  16. Yep and here it is "Can this be fixed?" Amilicia does a nice job on the third post down on replacing it. "part # CSX1093, its only $50.09" Amilicia
  17. Well it sound like you may get a few extra months to view analog TV. Digital TV Conversion On Hold? Personally I think they should kill the signal that day and replace it with a screen that says "If you are seeing this screen you need a converter box". If they really want to delay the conversion they could keep the shows on after that for a month or so and just keep flashing that screen often.
  18. IF ONLY . . . postcode in Canada gets you to within 6 physical addresses... a USA zipcode gets you to "somewhere within" probably about 10 square miles NICE IDEA, pretty unpractical for USA though unless you know the ZIP+4 Ya but it would be a nice addition to help narrow down the search. For example for some reason you know a zip and not the city.
  19. One thing our legacy's OEM Navi system has that is kinda nice is a section for the car. You can set a date or millage that counts down to the next oil change, tire pressure inspection, battery inspection, belts etc. It is nice not to have to keep a book for that stuff and it flashes a reminder when it is due when you start up the system. I assume that would be a pretty simple addition of code and only use a small amount of memory. One other thing I thought would be cool is the ability to set speed warnings. You place markers on the map that have a speed value. If you are close and mov

    New Z?

I would assume it would come out next year, late winter or in spring. Especially if it is just an update again. But I would be surprised if some of the features in the F series did not show up in a Z or N with new hardware. And if that was true I would be amazed if they were not working on it now. If they are doing new hardware I would hope they be almost done with the basic design and starting on testing in the fall if they would want a prototype for next years the CES. I am also willing to bet that R&D started to work on either a new system or the revamp of which ever system is
  21. Not sure about the Z3 but Teleatlas does have it.
  22. inferno999 did a very nice review of this unit, CD-UB100 USB adaptor - Guide and review for use on AVIC-Z2. There is the link, also if you search for "CD-UB100" as of 5/20/08 it is the 5th on the list.
  23. No I got you, that why the CSR would be like WTF. It took me a second but gave me a good laugh once I did see it. Oh and just hit the "quote" button in the upper right corner of the specific reply. Your message will start with the persons text with some quote forum tags around it.
  24. Oh ya, because an installer who messed up will never blame a problem on the product. Instead they will admit their faults and take a hit in labor and material cost and fix your system for free. If I were you I would listen and work WITH the nice people here instead of disregarding there help. They are very knowledgeable about these systems and can likely help you threw some of these problems.
  25. I would love to hear that call. The CSR would be like WTF?!?!
