  1. I have an axxcess unit.... I'll see if this is the case with my truck in the morning.
  2. My 8000 does this. I don't have a maestro. It's been doing it since I installed it. There are times when it will happen every time I start my truck for a week and then it wont happen again for a couple weeks. I have emailed pioneer a few times about it but always comes back to the same "solution" of sending the unit in for repair. I'm not eager enough to do that as changing sources fixes the issue for me. The thing about that workaround is I cant just change source from, for example, XM to USB. I have to change from XM to USB and then back to XM and this will give me sound. It's annoy
  3. Have you tried just changing the source instead of turning your car off and opening the door? My 8000 does this occasionally, starts with no sound, but once I change source (USB>XM>USB or XM>USB>XM) the sound will work fine.
  4. I have a 6+ and I have had an issue with playing spotify via USB. Today my phone was connected, I turned my truck off and left the phone connected and when I turned my truck back on my NEX said "no device connected" and then the unit rebooted itself. I unplugged and plugged the phone in a few times and it wasn't recognized. Finally recognized it after a few tries.
  5. I have been wondering about Carplay and bluetooth for awhile now. If this is 100% true (which it seems it is), it would mean that Carplay is not dependant on bluetooth which makes sense. I have been thinking for awhile that the USB1 and USB2 setup on the NEX units has something to do with Carplay connecticity and this makes me think that even more.
  6. Can we all agree that perhaps advertising the NEX line to have carplay way in advance to carplay being released was a bad idea on Pioneers part? They gambled and to me it seems they lost. I would try to put the blame on apple, but Avicsync not being available leads me to believe that this is more of a Pioneer being unable to deliver issue. At this point I'm just hoping that when they finally release Carplay and Avicsync updates they don't decide a few weeks/months later to release an updated line of Carplay compatible units that have better functionality to compete with the immanent Kenwo
  7. Is your phone plugged in and charging while you listen?
  8. If you build the pc yourself, you can get a soundcard with RCA or even digital optical out and route the audio through a DSP like the bit 1 or 10, or even a mini DSP. This would be cool because you could do all the tuning with your dash screen as well instead of using a laptop. He has the budget for it if he forgoes the 8000nex.
  9. If you are building a carputer why not just use a touchscreen that plugs into the computer? A quick search brings up this: http://store.mp3car.com/New_Black_Double_Din_Nano_ITX_Carputer_Enclosure_S_p/ENC-041B.htm?gclid=Cj0KEQjw7b-gBRC45uLY_avSrdgBEiQAD3Olxyd67jLID5sx7Fyp11A19FH3xISOi3PZaMcNpzbLr6kaAtGs8P8HAQ Thats simply a 7" touchscreen in a double DIN case. You can get a standalone screen that is of decent quality for under $50... what is the point of using an 8000NEX when you can get all the same functionality out of the computer itself? What are the specs of your PC?
  10. was it another dent and scratch or brand new? glad to hea you got it up and running!
  11. If that is the case, do a quick run through of your install just to be sure nothing is screwy with the GPS antenna/connection. I am sure you have tried a hard reset of the system already? Contacting pioneer is just going to result in them telling you to send it in for warranty repair. If I was in your shoes I would go to the shop you made the purchase at and talk to them about it. They could be helpful or try to push the blame onto you as you did the install on your own since they didn't get the easy money from doing the install, but hopefully that isn't the case. Hope you can get it
  12. maybe contact pioneer or the place you bought it?
  13. I would contact cruthfield first thing Monday morning and get it sorted. The adviser you purchase from on crutchfield is associated with the order # so if you have any issue you can look at your order and at least mention the adviser by name then mention what he told you about none of the functions being impeded.
  14. Sounds like its been dropped to me. Wavy screen and no response from the unit? Did you hit the reset button before you tried to get into the setup screens?
  15. Was the older camera aftermarket or OEM? I was able to tie my OEM backup camera into my HU and it still displays on my rear view mirror screen as well. It only cost me about $5 in parts and maybe an hour to figure out how to tap the camera wires and splice an RCA to it. Seems strange that they couldn't use your existing camera. Did they at least let you take your old camera home with you? Bummer about the mirroring not working as advertised.
  16. I actually asked this question in an email to pioneer support along with a couple others and they didn't even bother responding to that question. I have yet to get chapter skipping to work. Doesn't seem to be supported.
  17. What kind of rear view camera was that for $300? I guess the majority of cost is probably labor hours but that still seems high. $2300 for the 8k + modules/harnesses + RSE + install isn't too shocking to me for a retail purchase. But for that amount of money it should work flawlessly for your purposes and the installer should be willing to go above and beyond to get any issues sorted for you.
  18. HA! You are correct, thats a bit over 8% in the US using the numbers I provided. My post makes no sense as I read it now. The math I did was using the 1.4 billion households with a TV world wide figure and the possible 10 million units sold. I took some liberty with the .01%.
  19. When was the last update for apple TV hardware? Just because Tim Cook told investors "its not a hobby anymore" doesn't mean it's as big as they thought it would be. That $1billion figure also was referring to content purchases through apple TV as well as hardware. Apple also gave customers who bought an apple TV a $25 giftcard for purchasing content... This is coming from someone who has multiple apple TVs. edit: I also should mention that I meant a flop in terms of Apple's overall sales/ adoption rate. If that $1billion was referring to hardware sales alone, that equals ~1
  20. I didn't mean to imply anything like that. Just that its pure conjecture on the reps part. While its a plausible answer, there is no way to say that is the definitive reason. I think there is a much more straightforward reason why it's being "delayed" (no official release date that I have ever been aware of). They want to release it to great fanfare. Carplay has been talked about since 2013 when apple was calling it "iOS in the car" @ WWDC before it was officially rebranded as "Carplay" around March/April of 2014 @ the Geneva Auto Show, if I'm not mistaken. Carplay is intended for the
  21. I can appreciated that, but at the same time you also come to a forum to post about your aftermarket touch screen navigation unit. Most consumers can't even save a word document to any place other than their desktop. 10% of the internet population today is still using 56k dialup. Most consumers aren't going out and looking for stuff like this on their own. But if GM bundles it with their new car, consumers are more inclined to give it a try. How long have the major cell providers been offering mobile hotspots? They were even giving them away if you bought a netbook. That went well on both
  22. Apple doesn't give this type of information to low level employees. That much is fact. Just like if you call up pioneer and talk to a phone rep they wont have any solid information about carplay or avicsync. Anything these representatives say will be unofficial and unsubstantiated. That's why people are waiting for an official response. Once an official response is available, it will be plastered on every tech site as a headline. Go on apple support chat or call in to ask about carplay. I bet if you talk to 5 different people you will get 5 vastly different responses.
  23. I'm with spankey. How would someone on apple support chat have the key info we have been wanting all along. Seems like this guy just knew a bit about carplay and is as eager as the rest of us to give it a go. Just because he said it doesn't make it true or a reliable source.
  24. Having one come pre-installed in your vehicle vs going out and buying one is a bit different though.
