SSKEV
I was just wondering can you install the Pioneer AVIC-D2 without the sleeve and the two metal side brackets ? If not can I buy them anywhere? Thanks.
Jahntassa
What sleeve and brackets? You mean the thing for the front to cover any 'gap' around the screen? Sure, I guess. Knowing what car you want to put in it would help with a definitive answer.
SSKEV
Its a Chevy Trailblazer SS. Iam really not sure what brackets and what sleeve. Iam bidding on the Pioneer AVIC-D2 on ebay and they say these are the only missing parts.
MisFit
yes the d2 came with brackets and a cage. yes you can mount it without them using the proper metra dash kit
jaedee
Two words of advice. If the unit does not come with mounting hardware, it is probably STOLEN. Thieves tend to break the mounting hardware because they are in a hurry. I have installed/removed many head units and there is absolutely no reason the mounting hardware should not come out with the unit. (now on to my two word:BE CAREFUL!) MisFit
thats not true. most double din radios dont come with brackets anyway. most of the time you dont need them. so if they didnt get used in the original install, then the guy wouldnt have them now
jaedee
He made the reference to the "sleeve", in which all or most single din units have a "sleeve". I understand double din units don't utilize this type of hardware, but if you find a single din with no sleeve, it either is stolen or the person who removed unit didn't know what they were doing. That's all I'm trying to say, not trying to argue.
mnsweeps
I got one of these (Scosche TA1465B) side brackets / trims on ebay and it works great !! http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dl ... e+TA1465B+
Nomar1245
I've had my D3 in 2 cars and I haven't used the cage or brackets in either install. But thats just me.
yingjai
My D3 neither came with a cage nor bracket. I'm pretty sure it's not stolen as I bought it from Best Buy.
