how22
I would like to know why the navigation is around 70 feet off.I grounded the break wire and the speed censor is hook up
redgar
The accuracy is mostly dependent upon the GPS signal you are receiving. What accuracy level does your gps status screen show (see pages 123-124 or your manual)? You may need to reconsider the placement of your gps antenna.
schaferc
why is it you cant find the right folder to post in?
CatchMeIfYouCan631
the best/most concealed placement is on your dash by the windshield or right by your rear window. You can put it outside, but I wouldnt. I have mine behind my regisration and inspection stickers at the bottom corner of the window. cant even notice it and perfect signal. wasntme
The best is actually outside the car. The antenna is designed to be outside the car. That is why it is magnetic and sealed. That is also why all factory GPS antennas are outside the vehicle. As for being off in distance it will never be very close. The satellites are locked by the government. Civilians only are able to get a piece of the available GPS signal.

Whether it's made for being outside or not, the front dash by the windshield will work just as good. As long as there is no metal above the antenna obstructing the signal you should be fine. bitman
i fully disagree that the signal is the same as being in side the car or on the roof. i tested both and on the roof is a major upgrade in signal. especially when driving in a city with high buildings. HiFiSi
My antenna is INSIDE my dashboard and I get great signal. Enough that the navigation is never off, even by a little bit.
lava10t2
i know it's not the same, but for satellite radio, have the receiver on the outside was a huge improvement over having it on the dash. That being said though, mine is on the dash and it's not that big of a deal, the "dot" on my screen is only about a second behind me.

Civilians only are able to get a piece of the available GPS signal. If you're referring to the SA (Selective Availability) signal that the U.S. military used to inject into the civilian-side GPS signals, that was turned off years ago (during Clinton's administration). We now receive the same, unaltered signal that the government gets - only they spend much more (of our) $$ on more sensitive receiving equipment than we can afford.
