New Update Soon

Recommended Posts

Just got off the phone with pioneer. they dont have a ETA on the update. they are currently testing the update and estimating the release around mid of november. the fixes are the blackberry, touch 2.0, BOOT UP TIME, and few other things. soo till then, ill be waiting.

WTF, how can everyone be getting different information, someone said for suure its today, now you say not till november.

So wtf, either someone is guessing, which im going to assume is the reps at the call center. Those guys prob get their infor from avic411 too haha.

WTF!

my source is the tech support for mobile audio department from pioneers(800 #)

My source is a customer service manager....I would told it would be released today and that friday was the cut off for improvements on the update....He also told me that sometimes they yank these updates because of one failure on there test units....so who knows...but I was told today...so we will see what the brings.

only thing we can do is just to wait and see.

I am confused why you would know more the even the guys at the call center would, I mean are you someone special? Have friends in high places or what?

Pretty f'in sad the average folk may know more then the call center reps, AND you have access to the customer service manager.

Very piss poor system if you ask me, granted anyone could say anything on this forum and we would all believe it.

So I think I need to stop obsessing, actually we all do. Granted I would really like the 3 hours a day I spend in my car to be that much more special with a unit that has more bugs worked out. Just a nice thought,.

No...I'm not speical...the way I know this information is because I filed a complaint with BBB and the customer serivce manager called me and told me to wait for the update that is coming out. Once its released, I could test my avic and then if dont like it. I could return it for my money. Thats how I know all this info.

Also, I think the customer service people know stuff, but aren't able to release the information because if it doesnt happen they are on the hook for saying something.

Very true, although its not necessarily Pioneer but may the dozen or so obsessed screwed over customers who refresh this site a dozen times a day looking for some hope.

I hear what your sayinga bout mellowing out, I definately do. But it was a legit question, why did he get special treatment and knowledge? Not trying to be rude, a logical simple question.

Cool thanks for the information, obvoiusly the customer service manager prob got you off their back for at leas ta little bit. That is prob what I would say too if I had a irate customer on my back along with the BBB.

Glad we know now how you got some false information from the dude. No update is coming out, any time soon. Just call it like it is.

Avic 411 is on my porn block list via opendns, just so i stop obsessing since there is nothing to obsess about haha. Damn im sad aren't I.

Rest assure, as soon as that update is released, it will be all over this forum. JasonH will more than likely post it on the homepage and a member will make a thread too (our mod Skicrave will probably sticky it as well). If they're pushing it back to november, then it's a big disappointment to those who are waiting for it, but would you rather a rushed update that may have a flaw, or have them take the time to go over it with a fine tooth comb and make sure it does as promised?

Not all developers are made the same though wouldn't you agree. I myself work in the computer/portable devices industry and have some first hand knowledge of embedded OS's. Even in my previous life, I worked on a Digital Picture Frame that had wireless connectivity among other things. That platform ran WinCE as well and it only took 15 seconds to boot.

You can even customized an embedded version of WinXP to boot relativity quick. This is what they use for electronic kiosks, Point of Sales Systems (Cash Registers), etc...

I'm not saying your wrong, I was just staying to get the avic fully booted up in 10 seconds just ain't going to happen. They'll speed it up I'm sure, hopfully get audio playback earlier and we'll all be happy*

*I get mine tomorrow.

The avic is likley to be using a near full feature set of WinCE, so to strip out everything that is not needed is going to be tough and unlikely

I second CatchMeIfYouCan. Regarding the upcoming version 2 update, I want them to get it right this time, even if they have to postpone the release, and even if users (us) get impatient and clamor for immediate satisfaction. Most of us can agree that the F Series posts at AVIC411.com would be very different if Pioneer had taken more time with testing our units.
