Recommended Posts

Hey guys

Is this post "Firmware version 3.020200 from Pioneer" refers to US or EUROPE?

Thanks

Can someone answer this? I bought the original V3 update during the presale so i think i have the early 3.000x version on my US f900. Where is this even at on the pioneer website?

The method below is for European / UK AVIC-F900BT units and if you are in any doubt, DO NOT DO THIS!!!!

This was the only way I could go from 3.0101 (or whatever) as the 3.020200 update would not run directly.

Download the EU version of 3.000300 from link viewtopic.php?f=34&t=26625&p=182800

You will get 3 files with the names, you will need to rename them to extract them :

avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300(part1).rar -> avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300.rar

avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300(part2).rar -> avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000301.rar

avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300(part3).rar -> avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000302.rar

You will then need to download the 2.3 Testmode from :

download/file.php?id=8932

You will need 2gb SD Card for the next part

Extract the TESTMODE_v2.3.rar to the root of the SD Card

Extract the archive avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300.rar to the root of the SD card

Your SD Card root directory will look like

Testmode

My Flash Disk

Boot from the SD Card in your F900BT unit, you will be presented with the Windows Mobile desktop.

Open Explorer and locate the "MY Flash Disk" on the main unit (not the My Flash Disk on the Storage Card) and delete everything from inside it. ONCE YOU HAVE REACHED THIS POINT,DO NOT SWITCH OFF UNTIL YOU HAVE COMPLETED THIS TUTORIAL.

Navigate to the Storage Card and into the "My Flash Disk" directory. Select EDIT and SELECT ALL, then select EDIT and COPY.

Navigate back to your "My Flash Disk" inside the main unit and select EDIT and PASTE.

Wait 15 minutes for it to complete, and once done you can restart the unit. You can then update to 3.020200 using the standard Pioneer update.

Once complete you will have a vanilla F900BT running 3.020200 with the 2008.10 Maps. You can then use any other method to customise and/or update the maps to 2009.10.

Great job kraven but I have a US version of the F900bt and I am using the X910 3.01 firmware version with 3.0 winCE. Is it the same method to upgrade to 3.02?

You can't use the "avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300(part1).rar" archives because these are for the EU F900BT, but the same process would work if you can find an old US backup that is version 3.000300.

The process I have listed above is how to downgrade an EU unit from 3.010100 to 3.000300, to then allow you to upgrade to 3.020200. Also you may need to ensure that the WinCE image is at least the same version as used in 3.000300 before starting my process above.

I suggest you refer to one of the other guides for install V3 firmware in a V2 unit. Perhaps thread viewtopic.php?f=34&t=25751

In theory, using the process in the link above, but at step one use the files in the archive "avic f900_700_500 ver_3.000300(part1).rar " instead. Again this is for EU units only.

Hi, can I upgrade from 2.009000 to 3.020200?

I have F700BT from EU, Poland. I am going to follow instructions of Kraven

Hi Klex,

no, this will not work. This is an update for version 3, not an upgrade from Version 2

You could try the non-official upgrade as described in this forum

cheers,

Hi, in fact i can confirm this DOES work.. I have an EU F700BT and upgraded it from the official pioneer 2.009 to the 3.0 on this topic. I haven't seen any weird things except for the phonebook synchronisation, which stops after it reaches the letter M. but i haven't treid deleting all user settings yet..

Good luck with your update its very simple and look great.. to me its an real improvement.
